I agree with you about Andy's videos which are stunning, educational and inspiring but I'm not sure who else you are watching because there are some quality youtubers out there (although there is excessive narcissism in a couple).

I really appreciate your approach in explaining how you thought about making each image, including the the lines that you draw on the photo. Many others have produces videos on this location, but I cannot think of another that has been so complete in the clarity of teaching what’s important in composition. Thanks!
This is definitely one of my favorite areas of my home country! Thanks Andy for the way you explain your compositions, all the theory I read makes much more sense when I see it drawn out and explained like this!
Thanks so much, you live in a really beautiful country and Lofoten really is an amazing part of it. I can't wait to return in July. I'll be heading to Senja too
Andy, thanks for sharing your thought process while in the field. It inspires me to slow down and look more carefully for 2-dimentsion shapes and relationships. What a beautiful place! Take care.
Thanks so much. It's a lovely place. I'm planning on heading back to Lofoten in the summer to shoot from the tops of many of the mountains and ridges there.
Great images, the light on the fishing village and on the mountains is amazing. I think you explain very well the decisions you've taken for taking the photos.
And thanks again 🙏 I was lucky with the light...I've been to Lofoten a number of times and shot this scene almost 10 times...but this was the best light I've ever seen there
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. Certain lenses tend to work in certain places and I used the 10mm a lot in Lofoten. Not so much in the Dolomites where I use a telephoto more
Thanx for a great video Andy. Im missing Lofoten terribly ;-) Love the churchshot with the fence. Brilliant :-) If your ever want to explore the possibilities in the middle of Norway round Trondheim let me know. Lot of different things to shoot here. Take care.
Amazing photos and really informative. I remember from the previous videos a hint about triangles being a strong composition template and wow, the hut and the church. Mind-blowing. Hope You and Your family are safe. Be well.
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the video. I've got it in mind to make another video about composition at some point but I need to sit down and work out a list of coherent ideas and examples. Alls' well here...just suffering from cabin fever in the lockdown. Hope you and yours are good
Hi Andy, I met you and your team last year while in Lofoten (several times). This video brought back happy memories of a very special place. It was great meeting you and I very much enjoyed our chats.Hopefully our paths will cross again someway and somewhere down the line.In the meantime please keep up the good work and keep posting the excellent videos which I enjoy very much.Stay well and safe. Hugh O'Connor
Hi Hughie. I remember you from last year. We chatted in the restaurant...right. Glad you're enjoying the videos...there's another one to come from Lofoten. All the best, and lets hope our paths cross again one day
Only recently stumbled upon your videos. I loved the location but it was the explanations that were so clear and made so much sense to me - a newbie to landscape photography. There is a lovely simplicity to your approach both in technique as well as kit.
@@AndyMumford coz it's really a big deal to watch something and actually enjoy it with this covid-19 situation! Been Locked-down since 17 days haven't even had a single walk in the sun! So yeah thank you for your efforts! Maybe a new lightroom editing tutorial next?
Excellent video, as always Andy, thanks for publishing this one during these challenging times. The last photograph of the church within the fence is simply stunning! I would love to see that one printed. Perhaps a future video of print review from this trip?
Thanks so much Mark, really glad you liked it and enjoyed the image of the church. I keep thinking of making a video about printing...it's on my to do list
Great video Andy, love the advice how your compositions are thought through. Don’t know how busy you are in these most difficult times but maybe a video giving your camera settings for the Xt-3. Also your thoughts on the Xt-4 if you have got your hands on one. Look after yourself and stay safe.
Hi Alan, thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video. My XT3 settings are pretty much default. I shoot RAW and have the film simulation set to Pro Standard Negative (because what I see on the LCD and EVF and the live histogram are based on the JPEG and NOT the RAW file. Pro Standard Negative is closest to RAW, so this way I get the most accurate exposure preview). I haven't seen an X-T4 yet and don't know when I will as deliveries have been delayed. Also, I like to test cameras in the field, and with my trips cancelled for the next few months it's going to be a while before I can field test it. Maybe something in May, but I really don't know. Hope all is well with you, stay safe
Great video and in location explanations ! Just coming back from Lofoten 10 days ago then for sure the video remind me a lot of great moment on spots ...
This place definitely needs to go on my bucket list. The tips on composition are very enlightening. Do you have problems with the corners of the XF18-55 at the long end? My copy is not great and was wondering if it's just copy variation or if this is typical for this lens.
Thanks so much. Yeah, Lofoten is a lovely place. To be honest I don't use the 18-55 a lot, and when I do it mostly around the middle. If I'm shooting long I'll use the 55-200mm, which is really nice at 55mm
Wonderful video Andy. I've seen quite a few great images from that location and yours are right up there with the best. Especially liked the one of the church and the diverging fence lines. I've been wondering how things are going for you and your tours over the next short while. I'm sure you and Andrea will make it through. Take care :)
Hi Hamish, good to hear from you. I hope all is well with you. Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video. Things are alright...we had to cancel the Faroe Islands in April and Tuscany in May, but so far just those. Andrea and I just got back from Iceland last week and were blown away at how incredible it is in winter. We were up in the Highlands in Landmannalauger in a super jeep and it was breath-taking. The only people there, the whole place covered in white...it was absolutely magnificent. I've just finished Skyping with him to discuss the itinerary for the workshop there next year. He's doing fine, we both managed to get back home before the lockdowns closed the borders in both Italy and Portugal. Hope you're doing OK over there in NZ, stay safe
Just recently started watching your videos and absolutely love them. Very informative and straightforward. Thank you so much! A quick question, do you ever do focus stacking? How do you keep the foreground all the way to the background in focus?
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video. It's very rare that you need to focus stack with an APS.C camera (I use a Fuji X-T3) as DOF is so long. At 10mm everything from 40cm infront of the lens to infinity is in focus
@@AndyMumford Hi Andy, I am an amateur photographer. So far have been taking photos using a Nikon D7500. I have been having some issues with this camera and am looking to buy a new one. Researching through the internet has been quite confusing. Mirror vs. mirrorless, nikon vs. canon vs. sony vs. fuji! Would you have any suggestions? Oh! Also saw that you provide photography tours and they seem to get full very fast! Hope I get to come on one of those in the futrure.
Hi Andy, two things: First, thank you for making your videos about Lofoten and Fujifilm cameras! Because of you I looked more closely at Fujifilm, and ended up getting an XT2 which I love. But much more importantly, you were a big source of inspiration for me going to study a year of photography in Lofoten. There's a photography school in Kabelvåg in the eastern part of the archipelago that I learned about when researching Lofoten after seeing your videos. I sadly had to leave early because of Norway's COVID quarantine measures, but I hope I can finish my year after Easter. Secondly, you should visit the eastern part of Lofoten as well! Although the nature isn't quite as extreme as in Reine, there's lots of beauty there too. I'm hoping that this doesn't come across as shameful self-advertising, but I have a few pictures on my Instagram that might showcase what I'm talking about: instagram.com/henrikbvm/
Hi Henrik, thanks for your comment....it's really nice to know that they influenced and helped you. I've actually driven through the eastern part of Lofoten (the first time I visited I drove from Tromso) and remember seeing some really beautiful areas, but I've never had the chance to go back and explore it. Last year I also spent a lot of time in the area on the south between Stamsund and Henningsvaer, which was also beautiful
What an amazing place, and great images. Let me ask you something I feel like all the images are over exposed? Or maybe the video or was your preference for these photos.
Hi Juan, thanks for the comment, it is an amazing spot. The images aren't over exposed. There are bright parts where there was strong direct light, and darker shadows. For the two images shot in overcast weather where white was a strong element I pushed the processing to the right to keep the whites clean (darker whites look muddy), but they're not over-exposed.
Hey Andy, I'm looking into the Fuji cameras and set up as a whole, could you please make a current " What's in the bag" video, and essential accessories for a landscape shoot, but in particular for the Fuji set up you're working with, i.e shutter release cable, and the like...look forward to seeing it asap, lol no pressure, I'm hoping it'll give me a prod to pull the trigger :-)
Thanks for the comment. I do actually have a couple of videos like that. One from last year about my camera bag, and another from the year before about everything I pack for these trips. As I'm stuck at home for the next couple of months at least I might make another one as I'm constantly changing what I carry with me
@@AndyMumford Cheers, Andy. I for one would love to see what you use for the remote shutter release cable, as it seems that the cable I have seen being used screws into the shutter button, which is really cool, oh and since this first message to you, I have come across the Sony A7III.....oh dear, yes literally DEAR as in expensive lenses in particular.
Thanks Bill, glad you found the video useful. Some of the video is shot with an iPhone 11 in Filmic Pro, the B Roll shot with the XT3 is 24fps, 4K, F Log
Nice video. Quick question: as a fellow Fuji user, do you adjust your DR settings when shooting? I try to maintain low ISO like you, but I am scratching my head a bit on the DR settings. Thanks!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The X-T4 has been put back a little. I was going to receive one and test it in the Faroe Islands next month, but that workshop has been cancelled. At the moment it'll be difficult to test the camera when I receive it, so I'm not sure when the review will be out.
