Hi Michele, the first, thanks for your nice.
I´m planning a trip to the northen Norway for the next fall or winter.
I would like to fly to Tromso because I want to met the city and next I want to rent a car so I can travel to Lofoten.
Do you think that with twelve or thirteen days is ok?
@@carlosbravo1679 Hi Carlos, my pleasure. Yes, 2 weeks is a good amount of time to explore both Tromsø and Lofoten :) There are a series of guides I created and listed in the description of this video to help you plan. I also have a video guide about Tromsø here ruclips.net/video/LqqJi_UqGZY/видео.html

Thank you so much 😊 I appreciate you saying so. It’s really is a wonderful place. Norway is exquisite 👌
Hi. Thank you, what a beautiful video that you have made, in a beautiful place
Thank you so much Ed :)
Me and my wife visited Lofoten around early November 2019, and we stayed at Hattvika Lodge too (we might just missed you haha). Went to Ryten hike, and roadtrip of E10 up to Tromoso chasing the northern lights. It is such an unforgetable experience. We planned to go back! Thank you for bringing us to where we were.
Aww that’s wonderful. My pleasure 😇
Weather is tricky up there. Moving around is definitely a way of finding any accidental pockets of clear sky. Or you can live there and the accidental pockets find you sometimes. The northern lights do wary and awful lot, though. I lived in the mountains inland from Lofoten for a year, so that was my vacation in the north, and there was a lot of northern lights when it wasn't busy snowing. Sometimes they were barely visible streaks of grey/green, sometimes the sky was absolutely full of swirling snakes of light. At its brightest it almost turns yellow.
Such an amazing trip we had! Still can't believe how beautiful it was! Had so much fun with you!
Me too! My heart still hurts watching it 🤣
This is absolutely awesome. We are planning our trip for 2022.....now this is on our list. Beautiful photography. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words Amanda :) I have a series of guides to Lofoten that will definitely come in handy. They are listed in the description. 😉
In all sincerity, the only thing more beautiful than the scenery in your video is you!! To say the least, I'm pretty smitten. :)

Thank you so much Andreas 😁 My drone was dying on this trip so I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to use the wibbly footage, you can still see it in parts. DJI ended up replacing it when I got back but the damage was done. So annoyed it happened on THIS trip when I needed it most. Hey ho! Glad you liked it though mate. Happy New Year!

One more amazing video. I have watched your video about Oslo and i have taken some excellent ideas. I also have plans to visit Lofoten Islands and your video is just amazing. I intend on visiting them in winter to combine my trip with the northern lights. I believe it is worth visiting in winter somewhere between January and February. I have some questions though.
1) Would it be ok to land in Tromso or somewhere else?
2) I know it may be expensive for accommodation, is there anything like cottage except hotels?
3) Do you believe that one week is enough for Lofoten?
4) Which are the main cities for food and shopping?
5) Which months are snowy months?
6) I want to rent a car, is it easy to drive all over the islands, do i have to take any ferries or are they connected with roads?
Basically, how can i spend 7 days in wintertime in Lofoten Islands with my top priority the northern lights?
Thank you very much and keep up with the great work!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words :) If your priority is to see the Northern Lights then I highly recommend watching my Tromsø video here ruclips.net/video/LqqJi_UqGZY/видео.html It's one of the best places to see them on a tour due to it's location and the ability for local tour operators to drive away from bad weather which is very difficult to escape from in Lofoten.
Here are my tips for questions
1) Would it be ok to land in Tromso or somewhere else?
Yes, absolutely. From there you can either catch a connecting flight to Lofoten or drive down (6.5 hrs)
2) I know it may be expensive for accommodation, is there anything like cottage except hotels?
Yes, you can stay in 'rorbuer', traditional Norwegian fishing huts which have been converted into gorgeous accommodation. They are the most authentic way to experience Lofoten :) I stayed here bit.ly/EliassenRorbuer and here bit.ly/HattvikaLodge
3) Do you believe that one week is enough for Lofoten?
Yes, that's a good amount of time, although you won't see everything and you will want to come back for more again in the future, and probably in summer so you can go hiking!
4) Which are the main cities for food and shopping?
The main and largest city is Svolvær but other town have supermarkets or small shops.
5) Which months are snowy months?
From late October to March
6) I want to rent a car, is it easy to drive all over the islands, do i have to take any ferries or are they connected with roads?
Yes, it's very easy to drive around as there is one main highway and no ferries are needed.

It is so beautiful, speechless!
Fantastic video! I'm researching a trip to the Lofoten islands and this video is just what I needed... Also, the separate reviews and tips you made are invaluable, and thank you for taking the tie to make them! I've already bookmarked them and will print them out when it's time to go. My dilemma at this point is when to go.. winter or summer? It looks beautiful either way!
Thank you so much for the kind feedback Rich. I'm so glad you found it useful. Ah yes, Norway is wonderful in winter and summer, it just depends on what activities you want to do. For hiking in Lofoten, the best time is in summer. Winter is better for photography and enjoying the snowy landscape and northern lights :) Have you read my guides? Wow amazing video and very informative. I must say that your Video about Tromsø helped me a lot. I just came back from seeing the Northern lights in Tromsø and I’m planning a trip this coming year to the Lofoten.
Can you please tell which month were you there? I see lots of snow. I’m hesitating to go either mid- May or beginning of July. I don’t like big crowds so I’m still hesitating about booking something in July.
In which month can we able to see northern lights & mid night sun ??
Lofoten is soo beautiful ❤️❤️
You can see the midnight sun from late May to mid-July. To see the Northern Lights, you can see them from Late November to February
You missed about 5 amazing day hikes all around there. Crazy views but not easy
This is so beautiful! I just hope that next year I am able to visit Norway. Where you would be going when the Covid situation dies down?
Nature-based trips are on the rise so Norway is definitely perfect for that :) It just depends on local laws and any lockdowns. I hope you get to visit Norway soon! It's a stunning country ;)

Beautiful place! But I wonder how the smells would be coming out from drying fish 🐟
Haha yeah the wind does carry the smell of fish which isn’t so bad if you eat fish, but I’m vegetarian lol 🙈
Lovely information what time of year did u go to make the video
Hi. Beautiful video. I watched it and then subscribed. I want to visit the Lofoten Islands. In my research I learned that Macs Adventures only caters to 2 or more people for their tours. When I asked why they indicated it was for safety. I am 68 years old and in decent shape. I plan to travel alone. I assume that most of the risk would be from taking trails by myself. I realize that I can just skip a hike if it is too remote or dangerous. Any thoughts on this subject?
Thanks David :) Hiking in Norway is serious business so depending on the hike and difficulty, it's important you ask locals and refer to the official Norway tourism site about these details and when you arrive always check with local for the conditions. There is the so-called "mountain code" in Norway that even locals need to follow. One of them is to never hike alone, even if you're experienced. It's not just about your fitness level, but all weather and terrain. Conditions can change very quickly in Norway making it unsafe. I would always recommend going in a group :)
Ankle support and be very careful near any cliffs if it's windy. Don't break anything or get blown out to sea and you'll be fine. Lofoten isn't the Himalayas. You can usually get at least somewhere if you need help, and the roads are good.
Your Norwegian is pretty good.
Tusen takk :)
Never been there, but i love skrei(torsk) and I do take tran:)
You’d love it! It’s absolutely wonderful 😀
When was this filmed? I'm asking because the Sun was up in a location above the arctic circle and this was posted in December.

Aww that's makes me so happy :) I loved it there too!
Picture Perfect and beautiful. Which month is this?
This was in March 😊
Wonderful video. What a beautiful, enchanting place. Question: how do you spell that word for fishing village? Is it "rorbuer?"
Thank you so much :) You'll love Lofoten even more once you see it! Do you mean 'rorbuer'? That's the name for the fisherman's cabins you can stay in. I stayed in two of them and wrote reviews for each. You can see them here bit.ly/HattvikaLodge and here bit.ly/EliassenRorbuer Highly recommend!
@@theintrepidguide Thank you so much for the info and the quick response! I definitely want to visit someday. I'm actually in the midst of writing a screenplay that takes place in Lofoten, so your video has been really helpful in further understanding the area, customs and some of the terminology they use. So, thank you again. :D

Nice! Thanx :)
From your overall experience, do you think Lofoten is a nice place to move in after early retirement? I love calm and cold places and Lofoten is the most beautiful I've seen, but idk if it's a comfy place to live in year-long. Either way I'm sure I'll visit for a few weeks or months before deciding :)
I'd personally love to live/retire there. It is indeed very peaceful and incredibly beautiful. After you visit, you will have a better idea if it's for you. It does get much busier in summer so it won't be "as quite" but overall, I think you'll love it :)
@@theintrepidguide sounds good, ty, appreciate your response
I don't know your preferences but livingcosts in Norway are very expensive. If you want stunning nature, wildlife, tranquility, mountains and similar winters you could also find paces like this in Sweden (Not Lofoten copy). The high alpine area of Sweden is in the far north. Here the livingcosts are lower compared to Norway. The scandinavian experience is imiar to what you would find in Norway. ( I am a Dane visiting both Norway and Sweden ) Having said that getting there in both the northerne parts of Norway and Sweden is often expensive too. For me in copenhagen it is the same distance as flying to Rome in Italy but there are fewer companies competing in the air, busses and train, so expect higher prices than when flying to 'Rome'. But yes the north up there is stunning - both Norway and Sweden.
Is March a good month to visit Norway for photography? I know that all are amazing but still...
It sure is! You'll still have snow on the ground and lovely sunny days. :)
Wow awesome🌺💜💖🌷🌹💗

Which airport do i arrive in Lofoten if i depart from Bergen? And how many days do i need to stay to explore Lofoten islands? Is there a day tour to take us around plus maybe some easy hiking to catch some views? After my tour around Lofoten, is there a direct flight back to Oslo to catch an international flight back to my home?
should i visit in Feb/ March or May/ June ? so hard to decide huhuhu
it’s hard to decide because each season opens up different opportunities. You need to go in both summer and winter to experience both sides of Norway and its incredible beauty 🇳🇴🤩
@@theintrepidguide is it crowded in early June in lofoten ?
Great video! Really loved your voice and presentation :)
Awesome that you learn the Norwegian language aswell! You are from England I guess... or?
One thing though.. your drone seem to have some problem with recording video as there is some disturbance in some of the video you've shot with the drone.
Thank you so much! I'm Australian and I wanted to learn Norwegian because I love Norway so much :) Yes, my drone was having issues whilst I was there and it needed to be replaced. I tried to only show the "best" of the footage I had as to not make a video at all and not show the wonderful landscape. I have a new drone now but it's a shame it wasn't working well for this dream trip :(

I am planning to go in late Oct/ early Nov. I arrive in Svolvaer and will be making my way to Reine. Public transport can be a bit challenging but wondering if it is safe to drive in snowy weather at that time. Thanks if you can advise.
Yes, it's safe to drive. The roads are cleared daily in Norway That being said, be extra cautious :)
When is the best time to visit there, look like beautiful
It depends what you want to do. I think March is perfect of the snowy landscapes but you can do a lot of hiking in the summer.

Hello!! I'm Elena and I write you from Spain (sorry if I make a mistake but I'm trying to improve my English). I am thinking about visiting Lofoten next summer. The landscapes, the Midnight Sun... wow!!! My boyfriend is allergic to fish and I'm a bit worried about it because there are many fishing villages in this zone. Having lunch or dinner will be a problem for him or there are alternatives like pizza, pasta...? What do you think?
Hi Elena! Your English is perfect! Well done you :) I'm vegetarian so I know it can be tricky to find non-fish dishes, especially in remote places as Lofoten. Does your boyfriend eat meat? To be honest, you won't really eat out all that often as it both expensive and there aren't all that many places to eat at and the selection is limited. I stayed in small villages in accommodation with a kitchen like bit.ly/HattvikaLodge and bit.ly/EliassenRorbuer. It's much cheaper to go shopping at the supermarket and prepare your own meals and take snacks and a packed lunch (which I recommend doing anyway) with you when you go out during the day. This is how I did it anyway. Hope this helps ;)
Hello, Intrepid Guide! My boyfriend eats meat and if there's a supermarket where we can take a packed sandwich, fruit, chocolate... I think there will be no problem (I hope) Thanks for your help! I am going to watch more of your videos because hearing you helps me to improve my English.
So sweetie
