And I basically answer any and all questions any eBay resellers may have who are looking to grow their eBay business!
I just have to say … what a transformation! Not from shed to warehouse, not the business with room to grow. It’s you! From the fear and doubts and huge life changes … to hear you say you’re proud of yourself and you’re “excited” about the next chapter. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much xxx
... ♥️ ...
Hope everything is ok missing your posts.
You could always hook a hose to that tap and run it out of the shelves into a bucket on the floor beneath. That way if it does leak and you don't notice it right away it'll get it away from the books.
*great suggestion*
Exactly!
I was about to say the same but you beat me to it 👍
Agree
You should be very proud of yourself. You have grown tremendously. You are amazing. Take it easy on yourself especially since you have been sick
Thank you Linda!
Ask the BIG Shed owner (Tom was it ?) If the tap has an outside shut-off valve to prevent ANY water getting inside the building
I will do that!
How exciting to watch your business grow 😀
If you don't think you'll ever need to use that faucet, or "tap", you could ask your friend to turn off the water to your warehouse, so you know you'll never have a leak.
Your shed has become Your Shop! Warehouse takes more energy to say 😂💓
Warehouse, Warehouse, Warehouse 🎉😂
I am retraining my brain as fast as I can lol
Get a phone mount that goes on a bike handlebar so that you can mount it to your wagon when you’re videoing in your warehouse
I reckon Clax Cart should sponsor you, with the amount of times you have had their cart on your channel. Best of luck in your new space. Look forward to your next update.
I actually asked them (first time I’ve ever wanted to work with a company) and they said no :(
@@backfromburnout very un-Australian of them. Keep up the great content, love watching your journey ❤
Water Tap (Hose Bibb): unless you have plans to use it, most are threaded, so you can cap it with a screw on cap. Use a little Teflon tape or Pipe Dope to seal the threads too. If you are going to use it, add a short hose ran behind the shelves to a more convenient spot for filling buckets or jugs.
From the dining room table to a warehouse, look how far you have come. And you know you have made it to the big time when you work so hard you sweat and stink. 😆 Congratulations !
Mel regarding the faucet/tap as you Aussies say, lol, go to Home D or a hardware store and you can buy a cap that screws on. Just buy some plumbers tape. I’m sure one of the guys could come over but I’m sure you could figure it out. Just take a pic and bring it to the store with you. Someone will help you with the right size.
Missing ur smiling face 😊have not seen any more videos since watching this one, r u okay.😮😮.
Hi Mel! I'm an ebayer in the US and have followed you for about a year. SO JELLY that books do well in Australia .. I would love to niche in books!! Instead it's jewelry, plush & a little of everything else for me.
A tip for spiders - they don't like bleach or peppermint. In warm months I diffuse peppermint oil in my garage to keep them away. It may not be feasable to do in the warehouse as the books will absorb the peppermint odor, but you might try swabbing bleach all along the door frame and the back side of the door with a string mop every couple or three weeks.
You've done SO AMAZING and you should ABSOLUTELY be proud of yourself!! You are such an inspiration! Now grab hold of yer boot straps girlie 'cause I bet business is gonna accelerate in that new space!!
I am also jelly, LOL. The time when Mel comped a Tom Michener book, I think it was Texas, and it came back around $30, I nearly fell off my seat. It may not be this way forever. Take advantage of every resource; list and list some more; and get some help to list even more. Honestly, I am amazed at how long this opportunity has lasted.
That's awesome needs a loft with reinforced shelves and a round spiral staircase.
For the tap, connect a hose from it to another point in the space so you can use it.
So awesome to watch this come together!! I would love to organize my new space...it's something I happen to thrive on, anyway...looking great!!! One day I'll have my warehouse....one day.
Oh yes! Elevate! Make use of that vertical space! Woot!
It's nice that you have those fellows across the way to keep you company at work. It's nice to have that little social circle.
So true! It really makes a difference having others close by that also do the same line of work and understand exactly what I'm doing and can help if need be.
buy a hose. hook it up to water spigot, and then run the hose to somewhere away from books. you could use it to clean hands or other stuff
HEY MEL, not sure if you will see this message. Haven't seen a new video in a while, just wondering how things are going getting the warehouse set up. Also wondering how you are doing. I hope you are doing fabulous and having a great day. I am sure you are SUPER BUSY, looking forward to seeing your next video and how the warehouse is looking.
Mel: For the "Tap"... My recommendation, and I believe the safest to protect against potential water damage = I believe I saw that the tip of the spigot/tap was threaded (like a hose would screw onto it). If true, buy and install a dead end threaded cap, screw it on with cheap white plumbers tape - for a secure fit. My 2-cents. Best wishes and keep charging. You're an inspiration to us.
Thank you for the tip I will look to see if I can fit one of those!!
Spiders are good luck! They mean big money is coming your way. 🥰🕸
I hope so! I'll take all the money spiders!
Yep that was the red back dangerous type. Good eye!
I just love your personality. So proud of you and your business. You give me hope. Keep up the good work
Thank s for watching me Karen, I appreciate it!
When pipes are cold they will collect condensation. Wrap the pipe with foam
Thank you for a great tip. Would a pool noodle work?
I had that same thing when I went from giving private lessons to a rented space/classroom. I grew into a second classroom and created a shop. The same feeling was when I got the first person to work for me and when first person left and when I had to fire the first person. We now grew to team of 4, 139 students, 2 spaces, a shop and we survived pandemic. 8 years later I have a sustainable business.I found your channel by chance and binging all your videos. Love your personality. Keep going, you are doing well.🎉💪❤Greetings from France
You should be very proud of yourself your business has grown exponentially since you started while taking care of your family.. it is looking fantastic in your WAREHOUSE.
Thank you!
You could connect a hose to it and lead it back out side to keep the rodents out. I’d assume once they realize your moved in with all those tasty books.
WOW what a difference this will be for you! Looking forward to how you get this all put together, it's an amazing feeling!
Love your attitude and enthusiasm. Gives me a boost. Do a walk in somewhere and have your hair washed. It s what I did when my arm was in a cast. Best wishes
Bunnings warehouse is commonly known as the big green shed
Head there and you can buy a cap for the tap , its prob 3/4 inch , cap it off and no worries about leaks
LOVE IT! In no time you will move into Tom's Warehouse and he has to move lol.... Go Wonder Woman!
Ha ha, move over Thom!
Wow. I thought organizing and setting up my space was intimidating, but I don't know how you did it. But I would love the space to move around in. I will get there one day. Growing slow, so that I grow fast. Hope to see you in a call this week. I swear, we always make different calls. You're doing great, in everything. Hugs to the kids and you. And I can see you with one of those ladders on wheels.
Goodness looks like you definitely could get a bunch more than just 4 shelves in there. Nice job!! 😊
Now it is your own office, great videos.
I'm hoping you keep an area to back the car in so your books don't get wet when you're loading and unloading the car
Yep I can do that David :)
So much work, but it's coming along and looking good. I wish I had that much space.
Mel - you're making good progress & have a good plan for it. As far as a shower... shrink-wrap your bandaged leg. Also... remember to PUSH your trolley not PULL it (will save your achilleas). Luv your vids!
LOL, shrink wrap your leg like you shrink wrap your bundles!
All the room! So good. And the trolley now gets to live its best life ;)
It's yours Mel, call it what you want to!
Warehouse sounds more important I think lol. I just have to get used to it
Congratulation with your new shed i mean warehouse. See you as a real seller. You are. I'm proud of you. When i get the key to my apartment, i will hang up my curtins as the first. Take my tools with me, so it's easy to do. I will then take my computers and and TV''s. You are so great. I don't care if you have OCD or other things. I think your store/warehouse will be the worlds cleanest. LOL Please make a collection with spiders. Dead or alive. It would be you 100% I have seen this video 3 times. Cant get enough.
This is so amazingly well done! You are truly an entrepreneur miss.
Regards from Sweden
We need more Mel! Having withdraws not being able to see your progress videos! Hope you are doing well!
Surely Bunnings could deliver the extra shelves to you, if you ordered them online (?)
My Dad picks up all spiders in his bare hands and carries them outside! But I use a glass… especially for the red backs! 🕷
Eeeeek, I could never touch a spider like that. I have shivers thinking about it.
Sticky traps. diatomaceous earth helps too. It’s a fine powder.
You may need dehumidifiers if you have rainy season.
I’m so proud of you. GREAT JOB!!
I watched the video and I want to make a few comments and ask a few questions. Do you have adequate lighting? Do you have heat and a/c? I think you should pick up some fans. I don't know the best type of fans for this kind of space, but certainly not those jumbo powerful ones that sound like an airplane starting up. I personally love those vertical fans, but I don't know how practical they'd be in this warehouse.
I've worked with pallets and boxes at one place and I can tell you from experience, don't load the boxes so high!!! You want them at working height. If you're not pulling books directly from the boxes, then you can move the entire box on to your trolley and then roll it to its final destination. You never want a box stacked over your head or were you can't see the contents without standing on your toes or worse. If you can look down into the contents, that's the right height! When I saw the boxes loaded into the higher shelves of the bookcases, didn't you hear me screaming NOOOOOO!? You only have one back and your work involves a lot of physical activity. You must protect your back at all costs.
When I had a new space for whatever business it was, I always drew up a design plan. I can't draw for s*it, but I can use a ruler and draw a somewhat straight line. You need the actual dimensions of your work space, the dimensions of the shelves you're using, any tables you have for computer, photography, mailing, etc., stations, plus how many tables you want for putting books on that you have picked or want to show us, etc. Flat surfaces for new hauls and such. If you do that and always allow for more items then you think you'll have, you will be fine, and free of surprises.
I don't like the small distance between the shelves against the wall and the shelves facing them. This is something that could have been discovered during the design phase. How are you going to grab books from the bottom shelf? Maybe even the one above it? You're going to kill your back. How are you going to get down there and see what's going on? I think you need to have more space between those two and any others.
To deter spiders, you might keep some citrus scents, peppermint oils, eucalyptus, and the mighty vinegar, around the area, in abundance.
These are just some suggestions for you and feel free to take the ones that make sense to you. I'd rather you get a pair of roller skates to go from one end to the next, then have your shelves so close together. My first look at the warehouse when I saw how the shelves were placed, made me feel like the space was small. That's because of the closeness of the bookcases. This is your chance to spread out and make your fairly large space feel like a fairly large space. So, forget the roller skates comment and buy a library stool on castors. Maybe get a couple of them. If you do get them, get the ones where the castors are not exposed which can be a tripping hazard. The ones I am thinking of have the castors contained underneath Other than that, I think you will like them for working on low shelves and a way to scoot around. In the states, they go for around $70 on Amazon.
I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but it can't hurt....get some good insurance for your inventory. Congratulations, Mel. You did it!! Now make it a safe, pest free space, and use the space to its greatest advantage. Function, function, function. BTW, I just looked up space between library shelves and it said 42 inches minimum. I'd be curious to know what it currently is in the warehouse.
Mel it looks like that faucet has threads on it. Take a picture of it and measure the diameter of the threads across the opening. Take all that info over to the plumbing store and ask them for a cap for it and some teflon tape to put on the threads. It might take a couple pieces but I bet you can cap it and not have to worry about it with a bucket.
This is awesome I need to do this!
Just found your channel. I’m hooked! I have small percentage of books in my inventory. Trying to expand that area. Love your videos. What happened to your leg???? Oh my. Best of luck.
What a difference a little rolling cart, and warehouse can make!!!!😅🎉
It's the small things in life isn't it lol Who knew a cart to pick books would make me so happy ha ha
Those shelves don't like being moved, but they get loads stronger when you bolt or even cable tie them to the one next to and behind them. I had them in my old place.
This is very good information *****
So exciting!
Thank you!
mell that tap has a screw fitting in the end for connecting a hose you can buy a blanking cap that will screw over it and then if it ever leaks it will never come out of tap no need for bucket
I would get a can of bug spray for the spiders.
100%. I' will spray the surfaces around my doors and computer especially!
The tap looks like it has a thread on the spout....you should be able to buy a screw on cap for it at Bunnings ...then you won't have to worry about dripping at all or taking up space with a bucket.
I thought Thom would have at least unpacked all the books for you! 😂 Space looks amazing Mel 🎉🎉
Please scold him next time you zoom with him 🤣🤣🤣
Always love your sense of humor!! keep it up you are doing great.
Thank you!
Such an amazing space! Definitely needing someone’s eviction notice lol spiders 😮. You’re super women & so much work😊. How lovely are the guys in the other warehouse - so kind.
They’re awesome. Thank you
You are so happy! I have nothing else to say except:
Is the roof of the warehouse separated from the wall at the b back end? It looks like a triangular opening. Ask if you can have a carpenter come in and seal things up. The roof above you especially don't want to leak through rivit holes. Is there a sealed roof above?
I am so excited for you! I'd !I've to come and walk your aisles to buy bokks, but since I am in the USA and not traveling much these days, I just do it vicariously, with great pleaasure.
Mel sing it loud & proud! You should be so freaking proud of yourself!!! You're doing an amazing job, so many huge changes in your life and business and you just buckle down and get it done! Can't wait to continue following your journey as you continue to grow into your new warehouse space! xox
Well done! Wishing you much success and happiness on this awesome journey you are on.
It’s looking awesome Mel. You’re living my dream ! When you were saying about the boxes dropping on your head it reminded me of the other day. I was in the thrift shop and it was stacked to the brim and I was looking at the books and a lampshade fell on my head! 😂
So nice to see you so happy.
Amazing!! You're like the Energizer bunny, you keep going and going...😁
You've got this, and I love seeing the fierceness return. Truly inspiring
Your videos are inspiring 🎉
On the shelves closer to the door perhaps put on some shelf covering to keep the dust under control.
Great tip! I have an idea now I can do for that!
I like that new shed the poor spider going to get nuked
He found a new home :)
@@backfromburnout noise
You are doing a great job unpacking it looks great
Wow, good job!👍👍👍
Thank you!
A second trolly would be good as you say, and also you need a decent step ladder for getting up to the top shelves! With the height in your executive shed, you could install a mezzanine floor LOL. That water tap looks like it might have a screw thread on it, if so you could buy a threaded bung from the DIY store! It's all looking good, making progress Mel !! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the next video !!
I like step stools, you can sit on them, use them to put stuff on as you get the stuff behind and just high enough to get to the top of the shelves when you stand on them
In 2037 Mel still will be talking about her shed :-) hahaha you're doing great! Please connect your shelfes to one eachother, for safety. Even some ty-rips will help
That's a good tip I will look into that!
Always so proud of you Mel
Super excited for your new 'shed' for you hahaha
Dry shampoo if you can get it is great for those days you just can't get hair washed
YOU INSPIRED ME IM GOING TO START TO SELL BOOK IM WATCH YOU VIDEO ARE AMAZING
I would check the weight rating on the shelves before adding more height to them. Don't want them to collapse on you! The space is looking good though! Excited to see how much you grow!
200kg per shelf.
That is something to consider and I may even have to look into alternative shelving as I grow.
Thank Paul.
The new space looks amazing Mel, well done! Love the trolley cam too :-)
I love the trolley!
You're such an amazing person Mel, to have to pack up and move your business AND home not once but TWICE, health issues with covid, your back and then your leg, i love that you have come through it all and you have every right to feel total pride in what you have and continue to achieve, i so look forward to seeing where you are in a years time, keep smiling amazing person
The warehouse is looking great but i can guarantee that in 12 months you will be running out of space!!
i hope you never have to move again either, ive watched you go from your house to another house, to storage units, to the shed then to a warehouse! i'm exhausted just watching all of them! haha!. It really really looks great Mel, you're amazing! xx
Bucket in a dish pan for any overflow if an accident happens. Make sure you can hear a drip, to call your attention to a problem. Also, buy shelves on wheels for easy movement.
You look so happy Mel. So lovely to see the smiling and happy Mel back 😉😉
You are excited and I am for you as well. Can't wait to see it grow and develop. So pleased for you.
Not a shed, a BIG shed! Lol
Get yourself multiple high quality step-stools (Costco has great ones, not sure if they carry them by you?) but get multiples so you can leave them around your warehouse so you’re not dragging one all over the place., that would get old quickly and become a time suck. Your space looks fantastic! So proud of you 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
🎉 Thanks for sharing ❤
You are just adorable and such an inspiration. I used to own a snack vending business. We started in my spare bedroom, moved to a back yard shed, then to a rental warehouse much like yours and eventually built our own warehouse exactly like we wanted it. I know exactly what you are feeling!! The pride of watching the results of your hard work as you grow and grow. You are amazing and nobody deserves it more than you do.
(Watching from the USA)
I want my pallet jack back Mel!
I’ve decided to keep it as I don’t think I can live without a pallet jack now. I might steal that pallet machine next. I mean forklift. I like that also. ;)
@@backfromburnout Fun fact, The forklift is known as "Light Weight Baby" named after Ronnie Coleman - Bodybuilding legend.
@@dahub1127 yeah Buddy
Not just an inspiration for reselling Mel but also at handling & working through life's biggest hurdles. You are such a hard worker, smart & delightful. Much great stuff is to come for you. 😘
I LOVED when I started having all the bundles all by themselves--it's worth doing! :)
Yes, in the old shed I had all the bundles in the back room. I don't like having them all mixed like this in the row.
@@backfromburnout I was thinking I remembered you doing that, figured I was crazy when I saw them mixed together though. Hahaha
Looks to me like you're hitting the ground running, keep up the great work! We're rooting for ya! :)
Great job Mel. You must be exhausted x
Lol "transport" that spider... I would've lterally smashed it to bits the second I saw it, u are a better human than I. Congrats on the new space, u deserve it!
LOL
Congratulations, it’s looking great! ❤
The shelf with the water spicket I would put the books that are on that shelf in plastic tubs, just in case you don’t see that your little bucket overfilled and spilled over. Just protect the books on that shelf.
Thats a good idea. I need a clear bucket to make sure I can always see if there is anything in it. Fingers crossed nothing!
MELLY MEL ...... rock star book seller extraordinaire ,,,,,,,,!!!!
Thank you my friend!
The new wareshed is coming on great
You've got this!!
Oh my goodness...when Tom honked the horn on the forklift...my dogs when crazy thinking something is going on outside hahahaha
Great work, love!! 💗Told ya that you'd feel like a queen with all that space 😀
I love that you can use the trolly in the WAREHOUSE 😂 You've upgraded! Much love as always❤
