This makes me want to see another 5 players vs the Borg again! This is just making me so nostalgic, because it was those early multiplayer videos of this game that got me to find the channel.
I would love to see another series of that, how they went from pure doubt as even the devs were like your doomed to managing to pull it off by the skin of there teeths was absolute peak shack content.
Would love to see another 5 v Borg. Was so cool watching you all coordinate with your fleets to hold back the green cube boys. Sending in the Klingon fire ships to blow a hole in the Borg lines before the fleets proper came in.
Maranda and excelsior are the mainstay of the fleets for me in this game. I use sabers by themselves as flanking and hunter killer groups because they get a bonus when they are in packs with each other
I like the federation's "get a portion of every one else's expenses" upgrade at the end of the civ tree. Just never run out of money after you get that. More players = more power. On big maps I will literally have fully upgraded starbases on every single allied planet.
At some point Shack you should do a narrative focused grand campaign of Star Trek Armada 3. Just like Empire at war. Do a big map on hard/medium with all races and try to destroy the Borg or dominion.
I really hope this becomes a series, it looks so fun and brings back memories of watching cap and the others back in the day 4VSempire is by far my most watched video and I’d love to see more of that
Also the "disable maneuvering" abilities are subtly very powerful in this mod against everyone but the borg and the fed because the other three factions have mostly forward facing weapons giving that ability a roughly 50% chance to reduce incoming damage from that source to 0 for it's duration.
I also feel like in Empire at war forces of corruption the awakening of the rebellion mod there should be a faction, called the separatist remnant additionally, they should have one goal to survive and save enough credits to override the droid shut down and activate all battle droids.
I hope they do an official port of STA3 to Sins 2 since turrets would have independent target tracking, and orbital mechanics could force certain planets be unavailable if their routes don't line up nicely, so you'd not only have to think about WHERE it's safe to position fleets for attacks, but also WHEN to even move your forces and if reinforcements would ever arrive in time. They probably almost never have to worry about this in the shows, just timing, not if they could even reach a location.
There are no walls in space. Aside from sheer distance and fuel limits, why would you ever be unable to go from point A to point B when there's only vacuum in between?
@@nickdumas2495Because in space point A and B move. Of course for star trek this should not matter with warp and all. But planets have orbits and sometimes the planets can be on the complete opposite of the star system or right next to eqch other
@@nickdumas2495 Depending on where systems are oriented at a given time in orbit, some routes could get cut off and you'd have to take a longer way, which may take too long to react in time to a siege for instance. This was referenced for the new Sins 2 planet orbit mechanics if I'm not mistaken.
@@FakeSpartan117 That's my point tho. What is Willm trying to get at? It ought to take mere seconds to go anywhere go anywhere at all inside a star system. If we imagine each game location is a different star system, then non-zero travel time makes more sense, but they ought to be connected to everything all the time, (and not move). For practical game purposes, six or so connections out in all directions to the nearest points of interest would make sense, and still let you shoot at stuff that's going past. Would probably be a big advantage to the AI for multitasking so it wouldn't need to cheat as hard :D
Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are the best of modern Trek. Highly recommend. And if anyone has watched the new Rebel Moon movie on Netflix, they even drop a Dabo reference, so either that show takes place in the Trek-verse, or Trek the show exists in that universe and was popular enough to make Dabo a real game.
I am sure someone already said it, but in a round about way the Akira is a hero ship, because it was the basis for the design for the NX-01 Enterprise.
Anytime I see you jump back into Armada, I think back when you and I think it qas WastedSpace and Texfire maybe and others had to bum rush the Borg because they were annihilating all the other factions. Good times 😊
Late post here, did you know that "Star Trek: New Worlds" is not just a show, but also a ground-based RTS that came out in 2000. VERY interesting,. Frankly I had Earth 2140/2150 vibes from it.
Had the final version installed for awhile now, but been putting off learning to actually play Sins. :) I'm the type that spend 100 hours playing Freedom Force mods and custom characters/campaigns without touching the main game, could have so.muvh fun rping this. That learning curve though..
I just want a Trek game that is more like the Starfleet Command (1,2,3) series. Where I control a solitary ship and manage all of its subsystems. That gives more of a film/tv vibe. As most of the time full scale war was not the focal point of engagements. Bridge Commander is pretty close, but I liked the SFC series a little bit better. I wonder if there are any other titles out there that offer a good trek mod to give that sorta vibe?
I'll repeat what others have said: another 5 vs borg would be great. I think there's a minimod around somewhere that makes the borg super spicy again like they were back then.
If you like this game, you should try and find Interplay's Starfleet Command 3. It was adapted from the StarFleet Battles table top game and updated for Nemesis era ships.
13:15 - My view on Yaeger is...The design makes a lot of sense, in the context as a proto-Voyager. Like a prototype ship to try the feasibility of movable nacelles. That's how I choose to look at it regardless of what any kind of 'lore' says x3 My favorite Trek movie will always be ST6 The Undiscovered Country. Also, I find it hilarious that you stopped playing Star Trek Online and I sent you a mirror Sovereign class xD I kept waiting like " _HELLO PLAY MORE!! I WANNA WATCH MOORE!_ " 50:40 - Well let's not forget. Picard in early TNG, the awful S1was an expert at surrendering to everyone.
*leans back in armchair puffing on a pipe* ahhh the Borg and the cubes, still gives me nightmares, but by God do Klingon disruptors make a difference against them. Q'pla!
I was thinking about Empire at war the awakening the rebellion mod I feel like the black sun should have IG-227 hailfire-class droid tanks. Or at least IG-88 should be in charge of a company of hailfire droids.
Love this! Did you ever play Fleet Ops? It was an awesome community mod of armada ii that was made for multi-player. It was really well balanced and thought out. Fixed all the annoying things from Armada 2 that the first one did better, we would get together and do massive LAN party pvp
this is fun to watch you play, being a fan of star trek since before i can remember i recognize pretty much every ship and the nostalgia is great. also hearing you talk about it brings back so much i havent heard in so many years its great. i dont think i could ever play this though because im bad at games like this, but it looks amazing lower decks "was lovingly created by passionate fans of star trek" ehhhhh sprinkle in some identity politics agenda pushing and sure, i guess, i like lower decks but im not blind to the obvious and unwelcome stuff thats been being pushed into star trek since discovery which was nothing but identity politics agenda garbage, the difference though is that lower decks doesnt beat you over the head constantly with it so its tolerable enough to enjoy the show.
50:35 TBF, I think this was back when the writers were still trying to get us to take the Ferengi seriously. And of course how long Star Fleet have known who the Ferengi are is a whole big mess. They have a bunch of different first encounters.
This makes me want to see another 5 players vs the Borg again!

Anyone remember "Pulling a Martok?"

That scenario - particularly those moments of Klingon heroics - is burned into my memories.
Lovely to see that you still think about the mod now and then even years later matey.
A wild Gul Dukat appears. For those that don’t know he was one of the original Devs. Give him love!
Good to see that Gul does indeed Survive!
So nice to see you back in STA3 I first found you becuase of this mod. Memories of the Mega battle you all had against the Borg
Same here!
Please bring this back as regular content! I love your STA3 content
Marry Christmas Shack. It has been so long since you’ve played this mod. 5 v the Borg is one of my favorite playlists on your channel.
Maranda and excelsior are the mainstay of the fleets for me in this game.
I use sabers by themselves as flanking and hunter killer groups because they get a bonus when they are in packs with each other
In this the romulans are my favorite, because they get so many capital ships, you can literally have an entire fleet made out of them
It’s the dominion for me
I like the federation's "get a portion of every one else's expenses" upgrade at the end of the civ tree. Just never run out of money after you get that. More players = more power. On big maps I will literally have fully upgraded starbases on every single allied planet.
A million years later this is STILL my fav game/mod. I LOVED playing it.
I hope this becomes a series
It is so good to see Shack playing this again, as watching the early Sins mod showcases is what got me into this channel.
The first video I ever watched of yours was the 4 or 5(?) Vs. The Borg, been watching you ever since 🙂
51:50 The Borg called the Intergalactic Dibs Law
Sins is such an amazing Plattform for space strategy. Great to see more content for it. Thanks.
Great to see a classic. Why I started watching you in the first place. Now I got too play it again yay. Merry Christmas
I remember where pulling a Martok came from, good times.
I really like their Ages of the Federation mod too
At some point Shack you should do a narrative focused grand campaign of Star Trek Armada 3. Just like Empire at war. Do a big map on hard/medium with all races and try to destroy the Borg or dominion.
Could set the borg in an isolated cluster and fight the Romulans/Cardies/Dom until they arrive. Of course the Klingons would be allies!
"Have I regained my nerd cred?" - Shack
"Listen, there's a ton of shit to remember in all the things we nerds enjoy.. I'll give it to you." -me
Thank you Capt. Shack for this Christmas present!
The humble Miranda-class is so timeless, they made a second one!
No way! I wasnt around when you first did ST:A series, but i hope i get to see you cover a new series! Love your SoSE content, even the older stuff
Just read the comments, and I am happy everyone is having the same nostalgic trip as me lol
I’m going to dig in your old videos and watch me a bunch of armada 3!
I really hope this becomes a series, it looks so fun and brings back memories of watching cap and the others back in the day 4VSempire is by far my most watched video and I’d love to see more of that
I’ve watched you shack before the days of this mod and man it’s so great to see you covering this again!!!!!
"Keep in mind that this was before all the new Paramount shows, so you're not gonna see any of those captains."
Yeah nothing of value was lost
I always looked forward to you playing this back in the day. I would love to see more stories from this game.
Been waiting for you to play this game again. Still one of the best games.
Good choice, Shack. Merry Christmas to you and Tabby
Please make this a series again! I would chip in to fund another play through :)
Omg I first watch you playing this game all them years ago so glad to see it back.
Love to see this back on the channel, I found your content from the original multiplayer matches!
Yes! Now it really is a merry Christmas.
I've missed Armada 3 and am excited to see it played again.
Daaaam. This is a great nostalgic surprise! Thanks man.

Christmas came early!
The required "Mev" for Shack.
Hey Shack missed your sins vids!
Also did you see the HW remastered got BSG fleet commander remastered?!
Merry Christmas Shack
I love this mod, it's one of the best star trek games out there
This is what brought me to your channel. Now if we can only get the boys back for some playthroughs
I SOOOOOOOOOOOO Desperately want an X4 Star Trek total conversion mod Dx!!!!!!
Would love to see another campaign in this again!!
nice to see you back covering this Shack .. all the best old Friend.. and dont forget you are a voice as is your partner in this :) o7 MINDWIPE

Making a fleet based entirely around the summons is kinda silly and I love it.
I played this today actually so fun!
I've played STA3 recently and all I could keep thinking was 'SHACK DO THE RESEARCH PLEASE' the faster you do all the research the better you can be
