From being an 8-10 year old kid watching Savion on Sesame Street to now being 36 and watching him as an adult on RUclips. Absolutely awesome!
Yes, that is where I remember him from was Sesame Street.
Yes. I was lucky enough to see this on Broadway. Even sat next to Spike Lee for the performance. Was mind blowing!
When you can tap with no music what so ever and the audience does not miss it, that’s skill right there.
. This is huge for the Tap dance community. Savion is a legend. I wish this was uploaded sooner
One of my top all time performances ever on the telethon. In addition to the tap dancing legends from 1991 and Savion's 97 appearance.
He is huge to me I even started tap dancing because of him!👏
THANK YOU ❤ JOHN ❤❤❤
I love Gregory Hines and savion Glover.... remember Bill Cosby challenge...
Tap dancing is a dying art... The one thing I wished I had learned growing up. I just watched Tap for the first time since it was released. This guy, Savion Glover had the pleasures of working beside two of the greatest legends of all time, Mr. Gregory Hines and Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. They just don't have the talent in the industry like they used to.
Exactly, a lot of talent & showmanship has been lost thru the ages! But Savion makes any surface he walks on HIS, he's amazing!!
I think you would be surprised. There are many amazing young tap artists out there. Less opportunity for them.
@@cadenharvey2461 A lot less opportunity for them. That's why I called it a dying art. It's not out there like it used to be. Most tap dancers nowadays, are older like Savion who are trying to keep it alive.
There are a lot of amazing tap dancers today in the industry and many more developing. I don't believe it is a dying art. I think they are leaving their legacies and people are going for it. When you see people like Chloe and Maud Arnold, Sarah Reich, Demi Remick and many more, it's difficult to say tap is a dying art.
I agree with you so much tap is dying down you don’t have to be the most flexible or most talented to do it great
This dude randomly popped in my head this Afternoon lol. I haven't seen this dude since I was in Head start watching Sesame Street. That was about 92 😬.
I don't know why, but he randomly popped up in my mind too. I was thinking about the movie Tap for no reason at all!! I gotta watch it now.
@@thegdoat1 Taps was a great movie. So many old school tappers. Now I have to go watch it too!
Same!!!! And I had to come looking for him on RUclips after all these years.
this changed my life. no ones tapped as good as this ever. quote me on this
He is tapping dance with no music is amazing!
Да! Ритм в теле, музыка под ногами
The tapping is the music😍
I saw him at Ohio State University in the late 90's. He was amazing, really awe- inspiring. Such a tremendous dance talent.
Ever some old movies of Eleanor Powell!
I’ve been watching Savion since I was 4. Thanks Elmo! Just watching him dance makes me happy, and that’s what dance is about. To bring joy! Thanks for a life time of joy in dark places 🥰
SAME!
Me too musically amazing 🤩
A lost art that needs to come back
That and singing
And probably the BEST in history, Eleanor Powell, didn't get the recognition she deserved AFTER her death!
A great admirer of Savion Glover, since he was 19 years old. I saw him in New York in the 1980s. He left me speechless!😊 He is my favorite tap dancer!
I remember him on Seseme Street from the early 90s. He was one of my favorite characters
It is so nice to see younger people keeping tap dance alive.
This was in 2002
The best tap dancer ever! : )
Wow, amazing tap dancer. Have watched you over the years.
who ever doesn’t / didn’t like this .. doesn’t know dance .. period
Ok
Absolutely!!!
Dancing is lame
Or perhaps they just like a bit of "dance" with their tap. And "yes" I do know a great deal about tap and tap dancers . . . past and present. His footwork is incredible; I just hate his body movements. It's a matter of taste not knowledge.
I'm the one in red I agree haha lol
OVERWHELMED BY THE AMOUNT OF TALENT AND AWESOME CHOREOGRAPHY ON THAT STAGE!
This video is JOYFUL! I still can't believe how much they had to memorize. Truly amazing!
God bless them all.
Peace and fancy dance moves,
Lynne and Brandon
🍃💜🍃
Omg..... I remember being like 8 or 9 and watching him and Gregory in the movie tap! Then I dropped out of dance school because I wanted to tap &&& not ballet ... but watching Apollo, sandman, sammie Davis, and this guy..... I did have ambition once to be a tapper.... They are doing wonderful! And he never speaks.... I don’t think I’ve ever heard this guy speak a word... just tapping...he came up under the greatest tappers in the world!!!
i would just drop out of ballet instead
@@juliannestallings237 when I danced, ballet was required, you could not just take tap, not if you were going to compete anyways. I danced for over 20yrs...took classes from Savion Glover a few times...he was amazing
Hopefully as a tap dancer the art will be kept alive somehow. Shows how hard it truly is they never could put it in So You Think you can dance bc it isn't just something you can just do. Takes yrs to get pull backs picks ups wings etc...
Isn't everyone over lyrical yet?
The movie Tap had the legends of tap dance well up in age and still making moves that would have me saying “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”
Bring back tap!
He is truly a hoofer!
You know Jerry Lewis is loving this... he himself is a very good tap dancer..... he came up when you needed to know how to do it all
I remember him from Seseme Street from the early 90s
Dat boi good!
The first time I saw Savion was in the film Tap which came out in the late 80s with the magnificent Gregory Hines and the great Sammy Davis Jr. Savion was a kid then but his talent was undeniable. I am sure spending time with the greats (including the Nicholas Brothers) of tap dance really rubbed off on him. He is just spectacular!
Excellent! They are A NO. 1 entertainers. great tapping.
Love Savion Glover!!❤️❤️
I wish John Sublet (John Bubbles) got more attention. He is called the father of modern rap and gave Fred Astaire lessons. Man, could he dance!
I never knew he had the rap title! I know he’s called the Father of Rhythm ❤
@@TraciMann I’m so sorry - that was autocorrect. It was supposed to be father of modern TAP. He is my all time tap hero.
They literally TEARING UP that stage
I have loved this guy from the time I first saw him on .sesame street. Humble, giving, blessed personality, and one of the most talented dancers, THE most talented tap dancer I’ve ever seen... and I’ve seen the best. Where ever you are Sir, you are loved for the man you are and the talent you have shared. ❤️. Bravo! !
Jerry Lewis Telethon 2002 and Savion Glover and Group - WOW!!!! Outstanding Talent.
I cannot wipe the smile off my face.
I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THEY HAD HOOFER'S IN THE 2000's, after Ben Vareem, Gregory Hines along with his brother & dad, Sammy Davis Jr and Nicols Bros. I thought tap dancing was dead
Sammy Davis and Gregory Hines are dancing and smiling in heaven. Great dancing tap will live on forever. Thanks for the memories. SJ
THE SLIDE FLICK SHOT WITH HOBNAIL SHOES NOW THAT'S ONE VERY COOL MOVE
Scott Hamilton is a Superb Figure Skater, I LOVE TO WATCH FIGURE SKATING!
And he been bringing the noise for a long time I watched him when he was much younger on sesame Street beautiful beautiful man 👞👞

Ever since I saw him on the opening to _Monday Night Football_ with his fellow Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk members, Savion Glover has been a favorite of mine.
Savion Glover is a Number #1 Tap Dancer of All Times He likes to Jam And He was a member on Sesame Street When he was a Kid Tap Dance is his Hobby Does it with Gregory Hines Debbie Allen and Dulé Hill
Wonderful!
It's been years since I tap danced but this makes me miss it even more!
I know savion since kid, his mom. Evette took her family to pinevrook Christian camp. He would perform on talent nite and was awesome.. his mom sure can sing to!!! Him and his family very humbl e
I like how he said "HEY!" and "YEAH!"it was great!!!!!! and they make it look so easy!!!
Yeeeee! Haaaaaah! Love this tap-dancing!!!!

Tap dance is a traditional war dance by the Kusasi tribe called "Tuk" based in Ghana and Burkina Faso
I like those dance moves
That part when it went like “tapity tap tap “ that’s what did it for me.
That was Amazing!
10years or so ago savion came to Sydney, danced as part of vivid. I bought 4 tix, sure that my girl and my cousins who own and operate a dance studio in Sydney would want to come.
They are all idiots, and said no. I went and just invited three random people I met that day who said yes they'd like see tap dancing.
No regrets. Me and my new friends had a great night. Savion is a true sight to behold
Man what talent I can watch this over and over incredible I wish I could give more 👍👍👍👍👍
Go Savion go!😎😊
LOVE
I believe that he is now Artistic Director at NJ Performing Arts Center, Downtown Newark, NJ.
hell yeah. flying.
66flamer he was zooming across that stage
I always loved dancing!! My only regret, now, is that I never learned ‘tap’! Just amazing! Look at the smiles!!
Good job savion giover. From mariya.
I started watching Savion when he was on Sesame Street!!!
Keep dancing on to the rythm love to see Love savion I'm been a fan since I was a kid .
when all four of them started dancing, it sorta sounded like static XD
P.S this is not a hate comment. Savion Glover is INSANE
WAY COOL
Fabulous
Fantastic ! WOW WEEEEEEE,!!!!!!!!
Fireeeee
🙏🏿❤️
Why am I here lmao
Nice and clean 👏👏👏
I love what you do fam ! You have always been A positive great influence thanks ! Mirror we☝
Damn he's a good tap dancer
Savion Glover tap dancer extraordinaire. I think I have seen him live three maybe four times. Between Gregory Hines and Glover black rhythm tap made a real comeback. Now I rarely see it and media or on Broadway.
the conditioning... they did all that dancing and not even breathing hard
Lol, I have taken both classes and I can assure you. This tap dancing required way more cardio than Krump does. You have no idea lol
Are you really comparing the two? Both forms of dance are incredible. Stop trying to put an incredible performer down to uplift Krump and just enjoy the art
M.R.A Ang at least this one person comes to there senses. But we do all have opinions.
Got news for you they are breathing hard!
That why it's always one more time over and over so when do the performance you dont get winded AF
No offense to Mr. Glover, but Eleanor Powell's in a class of her own in this medium! As a matter of fact, Fayard Nicholas, of the Nicholas Brothers, boldly stated that she's not only the BEST Tap Dancer but the BEST Dancer, PERIOD!
You are comparing two very different styles of tap. Eleanor Powell was super fabulous and I adore her. But her style was formed in dance schools. Like all of those fabulous turns. Black tappers stay very close to the ground and rarely use dance school techniques. Limited use of upper body. Often not done to music.
I can't even friggin walk and chew gum at the same time.
Anyone know the names of the other three dancers? (Pet peeve: YT uploads without names, dates, and other pertinent info).
Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, Cartier Williams and Marshall Davis Jr.
This is Awesome, wow so much talent, I love it!
💜💥
Here after Usher's Masterglass. He is truly amazing!
❤😊
I dare you to find one person outta sync? Flipping brilliant
Tap dancing is amazing and difficult. These people had to learn how to shift all there weight to one foot, while keep the other foot lose (yet fast enough) to tap.
He carried on Sammy Davis Jr. legacy which is why Jim Henson gave him a spotlight on Sesame Street
WOW Magic Feets
💝🖤💚✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ Nubians doing just 1 of the things Nubians & Moors, brought to the world
❤ 0:09 😮
If you close your eyes it sounds like someone typing on a keyboard
I met him because he came to my school.
She can throw it down too
Me, a tap 2 student trying to pretend I known these moves 👁👄👁
I knever knew J cole, Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill and Kevin Hart were so good at tap dancing
Who's here watching this legend after camron and mendecees made a fool of themselves
Watching cotton club. Thought of this guy
Do the Watusi!
