Years ago, some friends were vacationing with my wife and I and totally unplanned or expected, had the chance to see Mr. Glover perform in a little underground club in Greenwich Village. The place was so small, we had average seats and were still only about 12 feet from the stage. I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be one of the most riveting and thrilling live performances we've ever seen. There was a small trio that would accompany him at times, but for the most part, his tapping was the only audible music in the room. Discovering this video brought back some wonderful memories. Thanks to the O.P.
The first day I ever saw him dance I was blown away. MESMERIZING and I got the blessing to dance with him something I'll never forget! Super cool as well as super talented!
As a kid you just knew Savion had something special, he did & still does. I know he aint loookin for it but he doesn't get the credit he deserves for keeping this art form alive.
I remember this guy from Sesame Street when I was a kid back in the early and mid 1990's. His mentor Gregory Hines made an appearance on the show back in the 1970's.
Sometimes I like to imagine how ridiculously AMAZING Glover would be if Gregory Hines had lived longer. Hines was such a mentor and almost father figure, and he think he misses him in a painful way. Imagine Glover and Hines tapping side by side, then breaking off into individual solos as Glover demonstrates his own unique style.
@@mjjm5511I watched that video a couple days ago for the 3rd or 4th time. Towards the end of the video, Sammy does a very well-known bit**, which surprises Gregory so much he kisses both of Sammy’s feet. **the well-known bit I will not say. I don’t want to spoil the surprise. It’s just a delight!
This is STILL SUPERNATURALLY INCREDIBLE in 2019!! SAVION is such an amazing dancer!! I have no idea how a man can construct this level of skill!! I hope he comes to Chicago some time soon!!
a great dancer i know him when is was 12 years with her brother and mother , he danced for black and blue :) France gived him a name the king of tap dance kisses Savion
He is beautiful... From the end of his hair to the tips of his toes. I like that even going to the whitehouse he kept his style and didn't conform to the norm.
I can't imagine the Nicholas Brothers trying to compete with Glover. One of the Nicholas brothers did appear with Savion Glover as a young man in "Tap". Like all tappers, if they could have met as contemporaries, they would have swapped steps, and trash talked a bit, and stole a step or two, and "Hey, show me that one again", and "How'd you do that", and "Never mind, I don't have to tell you everything!!" 🎵🎭🎶. And they would have been so pleased that dancers today are keeping Tap alive in any and all forms. Can't you feel the Brothers smile?
I didn't know it was Savion Glover at the time, but when I saw that movie, I said, "Whoa, that's some kind of tapping that little penguin is doing!" Lol
What he's doing with his feet is beautiful and very amazing. But I have to say that he looks like a monster. His hair is wild and unkempt and his clothes are sloppy. It takes away from the performance for me. When you look at the Nicholas brothers and other tap dancers, the way they present themselves with the tuxedos and nice grooming made it so much more appealing. He doesn't have to wear a tuxedo, but if he wore clothes that fit him and got a haircut, it would look a lot better. he looks homeless.
People have been fussing about hair for a long time. Dreads are not so unusual anymore. Hair can speak volumes, so it's probably always inappropriate to decide what someone else's hair should look like. Personally, I am so busy looking at his feet and his lanky body accentuating every move. Enjoying the TAP!!

He’s making a tap dance kid remake I’m an actor
Maybe the greatest of his generation. But I'd like to see him do what the Nicholas Brothers did.

Do not judge a man by his outward appearance, but instead by his good deeds.
