Great review, given the pen uses Wacom tech, do you know if I could use the pen that came with my Wacom cintiq 16 drawing tablet? I have the Lenovo C940 Yoga 14inch, it comes with a pen but it’s tiny.
Thank you, I've read your review comparison between the surface pro and lenovo miix 520 and just watched this video. At first I only wanted the surface pro but now I know sure this one is basically just as good if not better, now I'll definitely get the miix for university. Thank you!
Considering the 520 or the 720 (but buying an Active Pen 2 which I believe also works on it) for photo editing, drawing and note-taking -- great review!! Really covered everything I needed to know, I really appreciate it.
I find that Lenovo is very underated as a whole. I have this tablet, which is just a tablet,no pen or anything like that, I bought it relatively cheap compared to other company's tablets with the same configuration. Honestly, yeah, the battery life could be better, but it charges pretty fast and as I bought one for my five year old son, I can say that it takes a lot of abuse :) I would take a look at the prices of the one that you are reviewing as I am in the market for a drawing/mix tablet. Great job on the review as always, thank you!

Hi, it was a review unit so I no longer have it to test. Miix 520 is quad-core so performance should be fine in the long run. I can't remember if you can go up to 16GB ram but if you can, do so.
Thank you for the review! I recently purchased one of these myself but it actually has the first gen Lenovo Active pen. Would you suggest upgrading that for general purpose use and light drawing, or is it not much of a jump?
Thanks for the detailed review, Teoh. Great video, as usual! It looks like the pen performance is pretty good. I have been looking at the new Dell 2 in 1, but from what I've heard, the pen performance is very jittery although it uses the same wacom aes tech with 4096 levels of pressure. Have you had any hands on experience with that machine? It's certainly powerful, which makes it appealing, but the pen experience is crucial. Maybe I'll look into the lenovos a bit closer.
The Dell xps 15 inch 2 in 1 (9575). I have seen many reviews that speak to the impressive performance of it, but I have yet to see an in depth view at how the pen serves as an art tool - especially when compared to wacom emr or other pen technologies. As far as I know, it is Wacom aes with 4096 pressure levels. I believe they also had plans to make a Precision workstation version of this as well.
Ni Hao Ma Mr. Teoh. Question, I just bought my daughter a Lenovo Flex 11 pad.She wanted it to do animation and to draw on the screen with a stylus. It seems the Flex will only let her write letters, but not draw. Are we doing something wrong or is there no way the FLEX 11 can be used for drawing pictures on the screen with a stylus? Thank you for any reply.. Aloha!!
Some laptops (those where the screen can fold behind) are only designed for finger tapping and short stroke writing, not for drawing (there will be broken lines)

@@teohyc im particular to this one solely because of the pen. the 2 side buttons are really important to me for use with zbrush. i dont mind having this device plugged in when I use it. does the pen really perform like the surface pro 6 pen? im worried about the jitter issues of most 2in1 pens but the review seems to not have any noticeable jitter
Thanks for the great review. How would you compare the initial activation force of the AES Active Pen 2 to something like a Mobilestudio Pro with the EMR pro pen 2 ?

Hi, I appreciate the great work you do. But I have a question about a problem I have with this product. After watching your video I decided to buy the Lenovo Miix 520 and the truth is that it is very good, but the tip is worn and I need spare parts so I contacted Lenovo and they do not sell which is disappointing. You cannot buy a pencil every time you spend the tips. So my question is the following; Have you tried on this notebook any Wacom pencil that worked like the original Lenovo? Because if so, I would not have this problem anymore. Thank you
Does the Active Pen 2 and/or Miix 520 support advance pen orientation settings in applications such as Photoshop? I'm talking about tilt, rotation, bearing, etc. I'm mainly interested in whether the Yogo 730 with Active Pen 2 would support pen tilt.
what's your experience between using the detachable tablet and yoga type of computer. I'm a surface pro 4 user. I feel the screen is too small. So I'm currently thinking to buy x1 yoga or yoga 730 15 inch. Not sure if the graphics card matters and the extra 500 grams of weight matters. 1.89kg vs 1.4kg. Also, the thinkpad's track point system is awesome, but feeling the thermal is not so good. Hope to have some discussion thanks!
Yoga 730's specifications look good. Since it's heavier, it is less likely to be used as a handheld tablet, so it is probably going to be on the tablet all the time. When drawing, you'll need to get something else to prop up the screen to a more comfortable angle. And the keyboard is not accessible when folder, so you'll have to get a wireless keyboard to access keyboard shortcuts. It's more comfortable to draw on a larger screen. Graphics card is not that important if you're just creating 2D art. I may ask Lenovo Singapore if they have a Yoga 730 for review. It has never occurred to me to review that.
Thanks! Your suggestion is really helpful! So the detachable is actually a better way for drawing! since the back hinge can support any angle and the keyboard can work as the shortcut! I'm a coder who draw on tablet for hobby. From your experience with macbook pro 15, do you think the 15 inch boost the productivity as the screen is larger? I figure the graphics card is probably just a good to have. Also, do you support the idea of 2 in 1, an device for all use or two device a light laptop for productivity and ipad for the best drawing experience?

Screen is small. I want a 2 in 1 detachable as my main device. I don't want an android tablet or iPad. I wish there were more 13 inch 2 in 1. Can you review the Acer Switch 7? It's a 13.5 inch 2 in 1. Acer has not ramped up production. It's very scarce.
I like thinkpad's trackpoint keyboard and even the trackpad has a deeper feedback when click. However, it just doesn't have the productivity of 15 inch and graphics card. For surface book, the opening of the screen angle is not ideal for viewing when you place it on you lap. Also, the price is too expensive.
I'm not sure if 1.6 or 1.8 is too heavy for a laptop. But bigger screen might produce more productivity. The weight of 15 inch 2 in 1s are already really light, compare to 5 years ago
Lenovo has the Carbon tablet, i think it's 13 inch screen tablet with full OS. to me, thats to big, I'm getting the miix 520. I've read a lot of good about the company supporting there products and being priced fairly.

Hello, can this tablet connect to external monitor?
Yes
does it works with Lenovo Yoga 720?
yes my Yoga 720 came with this pen, but I do have some problems with it (I don't know if the problem is with the pen, the computer or how old it is though)
My Active Pen 2 keeps disconnecting and I have to spam my screen in order for it to reconnect, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this could be fixed ?
When you spam the screen, how long does the reconnection usually last?
@@themandinkan7411 i'd say it deconnects every ten minutes more or less, and when i "spam" the screen detects the pen every so often until it's actually reconnected
Annik's Art Based on this video, it might the spring losing contact. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/KPx8zw6XFYI/видео.html

Annik's Art You’re welcome.
Drawing app?
Screen is small. I want a 2 in 1 detachable as my main device. I don't want an android tablet or iPad. I wish there were more 13 inch 2 in 1. Can you review the Acer Switch 7? It's a 13.5 inch 2 in 1. Acer has not ramped up production. It's very scarce.
I wish there is a 15.6 inch detachable from thinkpad!
txshon Tseng There is the surface book 2. But big, heavy, expensive.
I've read a lot of good about the company supporting there products and being priced fairly.
is active pen included?
Included.
Does this pen support tilt
No
