    Those kill switches work like a charm. Went to my friends house for a party and drove my '68 camaro. Flipped the switch and got drunk. Woke up the next morning and was about to leave until my car wouldn't turn over. I tried turning it over like 6 times till I gave up. Freaked out, had a beer, and then realized I had a kill switch in my car lol

      SUPRA RIDER yep, what I don't like about all these methods its so easy to resolve, theres others you can look up that have a far better method that's similar. Its just a kill switch but one that requires a key to engage/disengage, so just park, twist to DC and pull it out n take it with you and then 0 power to the engine till you put the key back in that reconnects the power.

    • @xxALEXIZBEASTxx
      @xxALEXIZBEASTxx 8 лет назад +4

      +FrankTheTank did u not actually watch the video the point of some of these methods was to make the device very hard to find even to a trained eye they would have to trace every electrical circut to find the switch if you were cleaver enough which no theif is going to do in a parking lot and if all you do is just take a fuse out or disconeect the battery you eliminated most theifs because they will not spend a bunch of time diagnosing the problem when they could be finding a better target

    I've seen one guy use a double throw switch to interrupt the power to the starter motor and send it to a second hidden horn (experienced car thieves may cut the factory horn before breaking in). His ride has never been stolen but I'm sure it'll give someone quite a surprise if they try. The switch is momentary so it has to be pressed and held while starting the car, once the car is started it can be released.

  • @johnyork8945
    @johnyork8945 7 лет назад +4

    I use 3 tricks, they don't work on a topless car but everything else they work.
    1) remember the old Club wheel lock, I have one on my wheel (you don't even have to lock it) most thieves would see it and move on, it would take too long to cut loose and you can't drive with it on.
    2) for tow truck using thieves, crank your wheel to 1 side, all the way to its stop then make sure the wheel locks when you go to leave. It's hard to pick the front up and now impossible to pull from behind because it will swing out the whole way to wherever they go.
    3) hand/emergency brake. set it so even if they get it up on a truck it's going to make loads of noise and the only way to disable it is to cut the line or get into the car, both take time they don't have.
    a friend of mine took a switch and a tilt sensor from a pinball machine and rigged it so when he parks, he flips the switch and whenever the tilt sensor makes contact the horn, dome lights, and brights come on, we tested it, you can't accelerate with traffic at all or corner without this thing screaming

    Pretty much every thing here is for older cars, newer cars have electronic kill switches and installing any of these maybe just be redundant and not needed. Most common way of stealing a car is rolling it down the street to a waiting tow truck so the diesel doesnt wake you. If you suspect this may happen to you then get a garage, if you can't afford a garage get 4 wheel boots and use all 4, install tilt sensor and a high range alarm and get a pit bull.

    a few tips for you guys worried about tow trucks. if you park on a driveway turn your wheels towards another object, a wall or car. make sure it will hit if they try to drag it out. the other thing is: if your car is a front wheel drive, park it inwards and use tip #1. if they try to drag it out your car will smash into another object or they will just give up because it requires alot of time. if it's rear wheel drive i would say back it in. the car will be dragging and slowing them down, i would still try tip #1 but it doesn't really make a difference when they pick up the front wheels. my car is a rear wheel drive and my steering does not lock, if they pick it up from the back they are good to go. in my case i park it in reverse and i got a 2 way alarm with shock sensors and tilt sensors, if my car is lifted i will know about it immediately. not only that but my car won't go into drive without me messing with it hahaha.

    no love for the battery disconnect thing as it will make my car re-learn its fuel management process everytime and cost money and performance.

  • @Stambo59

    I know this is an old video but several of the things you suggest are a bad idea on a fuel injected car.
    1.The fuel line tap, down right dangerous. Most injection systems use a pressure regulator at the engine. If you close the fuel line before that regulator you will end up with the full pressure the pump is capable of, sometimes upwards of 120 PSI, between the tap and the pump. This could easily blow off a fuel line and spray fuel everywhere not to mention it puts an extremely high load on the pump.
    2. Battery quick disconnect. Many car computers have a memory for idle speed, fuel map, transmission shift points and more..This means a relearn every time you disconnect the battery. Airbag systems may not function and bring the SRS light on until the computer is reset by a scan tool. Many other potential issues, even potential to destroy a computer.
    3. Battery disconnect solenoid. Same as 2 above.
    What I do is put a switch in the control circuit of the fuel pump relay.
    A bit harder for the DIYer but far safer and harder for the crooks to detect.
    Otherwise pay the money for a good alarm and GPS tracker.

    I've got 3 different anti-theft mechanisms on my truck. 1) its a manual. 2) its got a fuel switch that I've hid, when it's off, the vehicle gets no fuel. 3) I've got a starter switch that I also hid, when it's off, the starter doesn't even turn over even if the thief hot wired my truck. When I park my truck in a parking lot or something, I usually only use the fuel switch, but if I'm parking at my house over night or in the storage, I use both switches.

    Place the 110dB Screecher for the Car Alarm INSIDE the vehicle, hide it where the 'normal' audio speakers are fitted, and wire this to the ignition - via a hidden switch. Or better still - two of these - one for each ear of the thief! Try this. It really works. Just don't forget to turn the Screecher off yourself before driving!!

    A hidden switch to kill the fuel pump or simply removing the fuel pump relay is always easy. Plus in many vehicles they will still start then stall a few seconds later. If they attempted to move your vehicle in that time it will up the chance of them being noticed as they flee your vehicle that is now sitting in the street or half way across the parking lot.

    I appreciate the information. I shop in a town call Chula Vista about 6 miles from the Mexican border. There is a shopping mall there that has more cars stolen from it than any other Shopping Center in the country. I usually take the battery cable off the battery. The problem with that, is car thieves see you underneath your car's hood they have a good idea of what you're doing. the distributor switching was what I was interested in, possibly two switches in the same line in different places.
    Again thank you for the video.

    Fuel Pump Power cutoff with SPST. This lead is available at the rollover cutoff which is conveniently located in the cabin, mostly on the passenger A-Pillar or kick panel . The thief car try to start up but without fuel, no go. Our area in Canada has just seen a big spike in high end Lexus/Mercedes theft for 'container export'. Theives are now using the KeyFob Repeating Amplifier trick to unlock and (keyless/proximity) start and drive away.

    Much better than the "dizzy switch" is to connect a wire to the same wire being cut with the dizzy switch (between distributor and coil), at the negative side of coil. Then run the wire to the driver area and connect to ground, with a switch inline. Then when you flip the switch, the points permanently ground out. But this only works with older cars with points and condenser ignition.
    Even better is to configure a similar circuit using a relay such that this circuit gets actuated automatically when the key is turned off. Then a push button near the driver is used to activate the circuit, and released after the car starts. Too difficult to describe the circuit in words, but with the info I described you can figure it out if you have a good understanding of basic electrical. Also to help you figure out the circuit, a diode will be needed too.

    Modern cars need a period of time in order to shut down the drain on the battery. For anywhere from 10-30 minutes, there is a drain on the battery as the various power-consuming components are shut down (and there is always some drain as well, clocks, information systems, etc. If you installed a battery cut off and shut the power down before this shut down time, would that not mess up the car computer, not to mention the clock always being wrong, your radio having to be reprogrammed, etc?

    One of the most simple things to do is to take the fuse out to the fuel pump or crank fuse,and just lock your glove box. Also put on the Autolock Theft Pro and they can't shift your car out of gear because they can't depress the brake pedal. Get a pager alarm. Besides that if they want your cat bad enough they will tow it or jack you for it.
