  • I'm really pleased with two scented Epidendrum species - Epidendrum stamfordianum and Epidendrum ciliare.
    Phalaenopsis javanica is a delightful scented species flowering for me for the first time and proves so much better in real life than in photographs.
    My two forms of Coelogyne cristata have a tendency to grow straggly so I'm doing a bit of training to tidy them up.

      Glad you enjoy watching. Yes, I do well with many of my orchids but I'd be the first to admit that some defeat me and I have to give up with them.

    Thank you for your videos. After your great video about Peony orchids I got courage and bought one. I was very successful in the first year and now I have small collection from them and they are growing very well on my balcony. Thank you very much. I can only understand how much time it took to make this video, but it helped so many people. Now, I give as a present a Peony orchid bulbs with a link of your video, how to grow them. Thank you for your great and informative videos. I am learning very much from you.

    Again, it was nice to see your video. As always, you showed interesting orchids species! I'll soon have a Phalaenopsis javanica hybrid with P. finleyi, and thanks for the idea of attaching the Coelogyne rhizome. My cristata alba is also the same as yours. Vladivostok, Irina.

    I had the epidendron Stamford when I used to live in the tropic. It s very nice perfume. Abit like honey sucker. It s particularly strong in strong light.

    Hello Howard! 👋 We've been missing you! Absolutely gorgeous flowers as usual. Thank you for sharing your beautiful orchids with us. I have a question. How often do you water your epidendrons?

    • @HowardRice
      @HowardRice  4 месяца назад +1

      They are watered about once a week in summer and down to about every two weeks in winter but it really depends so much on the the temperature, humidity and amount of air movement. Best to use a clear pot so you can better judge when and when not to water.

    9:27 Ninja Orchids recently posted a repotting video about a coelogyne type orchid. I let her know about your technique with this clip to control the growth pattern.
    Interesting mounted orchids as usual. ☺️👍

    • @HowardRice
      @HowardRice  4 месяца назад +1

      My coelogyne cristatas would be a bit more compact if they had higher light levels. I've also noticed that other growers have forms which have much rounder pseudobulbs and very tight growth.
