    Thank you so much, Howard! Love your greenhouse, your collection and the way how you present your treasures. As others already have said - please keep going. In northern Germany we even had around -10 °C night temperature the last 8 days or so. It's quiet challenging even for window sill growers, but so far my plants are doing well, some of them even seem to like the lower temps. So intersting experience.... Wish you and your family all the best 😊🤗

    Hello, I have a question regarding seed starting plug. I think these sponges are bound by a particular polymer. Does anyone know the name of this polymer used in production of the seed starting sponge plugs? I am open to any documents and information regarding the production of these sponge plugs as well.

      Actually, since my video, I'm pleased to say that, with the help on one particular viewer who had been at RHS Wisley, and by researching some archives at Cambridge Botanic Gardens I was able to piece together it's name which is 'Warringa Wonder'. It has just finished flowering having lasted over 6 weeks. Same wonderful hyacinth perfume and even when it is quite cool in the greenhouse. A real asset.

      Hi Justin. I think Equagenera made this cross to produce a plant that looked like a Telepogon but easier to look after. So far so good for me. There is nothing as useful as seeing plants in the wild to observe what conditions they need.

    I just found your channel and I am absolutely ENTHRALLED! I wanted to give a suggestion, if you ever need to warm up the greenhouse, you can put bubble wrap inside the windows and that will provide some insulation from the outside. Also it's not terribly invasive or difficult just to simply cut some bubble bubble wrap to size, and use fourth pieces of double sided tape on the corners. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

    • @HowardRice
      @HowardRice  Год назад +1

      Thanks Ann. Yes, bubble wrap is a favouirite of many growers. I'm fortunate in that my greenhouse is actually fully double glazed which makes a huge difference to the heating requirements and is also wedged between our house and the house next door which further reduces heat loss. The double glazing also massively reduces condensation and helps to keep the humidity high.

    Dear Howard,
    I recently bought a bulbophyllum saltatorium var. albociliatum online, not realizing that it was a miniature. Now I am a bit worried that I wont be able to take proper care of it, since I so far have only managed potted orchids. It came potted as well.
    Do you have any idea or tips on how I could keep this orchid alive and happy in a pot?
    Warmly,
    Aaron Nora

    • @HowardRice
      @HowardRice  Год назад

      Don't worry. It should be fine. In the Botanic Gardens here in Cambridge they have a very large collection of Bulbophyllums and they are all grown in bark and potted. Mounted orchids need such frequent and careful watering and spraying that it isn't practical in their case.
