Very professional and impressive repair. Quality of repair looked pretty good. Thanks for creating an informative video and sharing. You have the right kind of tools and accessories to which others normally do not have access. That is why people like to send their repair projects to you. Thanks again. By the way excellent background music!!!
This video really helped me to disassemble this laptop :). Thx a lot! Instead of glue I have used six 2x10mm screws, nuts, and washers for hinges. All you need to do is to make 2 mm holes in back cover uing drill, and then screw it all together. Now it works like a charm :). Extra durable.
So, nice video, but it's not for everyone and this metode is risky if you're not a pro like this guy. I fixed my NP530U3B without tearing apart the whole display. You can tear apart (gently) the middle part with a guitar pick and reach the srews to take out the hinges without breaking anything, than loose the hinge, grease them (optional) then take back everything, fix the broken part (between the metal part and the plastic middle part as on the video, you can do that with loctite "gel" or good quality epoxy), and voila. This video helped me a lot about disassembly and courage, so thumbs up! Don't forget to like and subscribe!
Great Video! Helped me a lot. Thank you! For everyone who hasn't got one of these special tools: A small kitchen knife will work just as fine if you are careful. Don't forget to use cardboard or paper to protect the screen. Guitar pics sometimes work as well and don't leave scratches.
I had the same problem on both sides for the last 5 years (bought in 2013). Basically I super glued the outside and put stretched wire tape (the black one used to isolate live wires). It is ugly, but I didn't need to disassemble the screen. edit after 11 months: broke 6 months ago. Then I reinforced the hinge with a polyester cloth and superglue (poor man's glass fiber). Broke again. Now I will use epoxy glue like the video.
Many Thanks for the video. I've taken this as my personal challenge and have just ordered a new hinge and all tools via Ali Express. Although I had to buy a new laptop in the meantime bc of work. I hope in three months forwards (when I hope to receive the parcel) I can successfully accomplish this repair.
@@Tjitsepitsie I tried my best with a hinge I ordered from Ali express, but when I turn it on, it didn't do so. So there is a risk of messing up the laptop that someone said previously. I will try again anyways to see what went wrong.
just a question, would a thin but strong wire would be better if i somehow make it go under the aluminum sheet and just keep scratching left and right to remove the adhesive without bending it or damaging the screen somehow, would that be a good idea?
This is a design problem. Samsung should repair for FREE for all his customers, but they charge for it. My laptop broke too. The only option we have, is to not buy a samsung laptop again.
i BIG thank you. fixed my series 5 EXACTELY the way you showed here. PERFECT. thank you for making this wonderfully easy and relaxed video with all the right steps. i'm even looking forward to fixing my sisters same laptop. Oh... and i DO have a question: since i read, the problem is well known, because the hinges are to tight, i actually bought replacement hinges on ebay. but after your video i'm wondering: are they realy too tight, or is the plastic to weak? because then i can save me the money on my sisters laptop. but most importantly: thank you, great job.
I have a broken hinge on my Samsung NP900X4C. The hinge connections are on the outside of the screen section rather than the inside as in the case of the Samsung laptop in this video. Do you know if you have to take out the whole screen (like in this video) to get the the other half of the hinges for the NP900X4C model?

very nice video.. thank you for detailed approach. I will try it on my broken hinges. And just for sure I will drill holes thro ughthe aluminium lid and use longer screews with bolt nut.
@Sweet Memories I didnt make video, but you can see result on ibb.co/fYpX9d3 as I said I drilled holes through aluminium case and use old hinges on the top side. I asked for six screws with nuts in notebook repair shop and get it for 2USD :) So now I have bolt - plate from old hinge - original alu case - plastic inside - new hinges - nut. Its perfect, used each day with no problems for one year. Using plates from old hinges is not necessary but I did it just for sure. Finally I have used file and rasp bolts little bit, and then put glue over (removed for photo - so it looks dirty)
Thats a really cool pair of tweezers you got there! the ones with the angled tips that almost knife like. care to share where to find those, or what they are called?
Hi. Thanks for this important service. Is there a manual to accompany this? I’m a newbie at laptop repair and it would be useful to have a reference document. Also, what supporting kit (and adhesive?) do you recommend? I need a hobby during lockdown... Thx
Hi!, we don't have this Turbo Mix in Argentina, Can I use the Würth Flüssig-Metall Fe 1? Is the same? It seems to be a very common issue in this model.
yes :) BUT in different way - you need new FullHD display and display controller kit ... connection will be via side HDMI/VGA output. So it means cable and small box glued to the display lid :(
Some of you, have got WIFI signal problems?? My asus 530 has a very weak signal....I try to change antenna with other and I see difference but I dont diasseble monitor, I try to find a position under the motherboard. Any other solutions??
Hi, sorry but i'm new in this theme of the repairs but you could say that instruments and materials you use Since I've looked for where to repair my equipment but I haven't found a solution your solution convinces me and I know I could do it with you helping me tell me what materials you use Please, I need your help. Hi. First what you need is a little bit of experience. This particular case is not so easy as is looks like, and should be not your first. Equipment: few screwdrivers, small drill machine. I use liquid metal epoxy - TurboCall2000. Regards.
@Mark Santiago i replaced my 530U's HDD with a generic 2.5" SATA 200GB SSD as soon as I bought it in 2012. just moved the little ribbon cable thing over to the ssd, fit right in. disable the cache software that uses the lame little SSD thats built in because its slower than the sata drive. if I did it again, I'd use a 500g or 1tb ssd, they are cheap enough now.
Hi Any body tell me my problem on samsung np300 e5x 9 year's old. Can i change new total assembled body. Hinge problem and total plastic are very low quality. Help me any one. Send me link
I seem to have damaged the screen while removing the cover, I think I pushed the tool under the steel LCD while going round with the tool, Rather then between the Aluminium cover and the LCD, I’ll buy a new laptop.
Had this same problem on my Samsung Chromebook Plus. Had it for 8 months. Hinges were placed behind screen and froze/locked and broke right through screen. The screen assembly is sold complete and will cost almost as much as the laptop. Samsung Chromebook 2 12.2 is garbage.
I completely f*cked my laptop. Don’t try at home even if you think yourself capable. After disassembling I could tell the screen casing was cracked meaning that even with hinge replacement the repair would not work (there is no casing to attach the hinges to - the common design fault). I tried the fix and to reassemble - the digitiser for the screen now doesn’t work either so no display. It’s a good video - I just wouldn’t recommend trying yourself.
My computer is broke just like the one in the video and I took it to Best Buy to get it repaired and they told me they wanted 562 dollars for the whole thing and to replace the screen when everything worked fine except the hinges I’m going to do the repair myself pls if anybody reads this don’t go to Best Buy more than likely you will get ripped off like they tried me
I never see in my life a broken hing in this model. It’s always a plastic part on bottom of the screen. I don’t think that you need to replace the hing... but maybe I’m wrong.
As I can see, the plastic of mine is broken because the hinge doesn't move properly anymore. And the plastic is broken into many parts. So I guess it's easier to just replace it

mine broke for no reason too
The hinges are too tight ,I too had to fix the right side hinge, and also loosened both of them so it will never break again :)
@@Tremor244 I believe that is the main reason - "too tight" why it breaks in the first place.

Thx. Basically the hinges are ok. The problem is on the plastic side - is to weak. The screw holders are always break up.
To be honest I'd expected it to be easier, this shits way too hard to me :(

Had the exact same issue (smaller crack); fixed it in a very similar way.
What glue is that at 13:12 ?
And what glue is it at 8:44?

In 99% of the cases you don't need a new hinge
