    Hi ! I repaired a laptop with hot glue (hinges) and It is still good after 3 years in SENEGAL ! So do not hesitate to use it even in "hot" countries.

    Why so many negative comments? Sorin has said many times that these are repairs based on cost. Repairing the second laptop back to factory would mean replacing hinges and a back cover with new parts. Some of these repairs can cost more than the laptop is worth and customers who don't want to pay that much. We are not complaining about repairing motherboards, the manufacturer will say to replace it. This is no different. Sorin is providing a great service and showing you real world repairs for nothing. Give the man some peace and props for all the work he has done.

      without repairs like this, the alternative is usually either living with the broken hinge or buying a new laptop. this is preferable in either case

    Yep hot glue gets even better when not using glueguns, the extra heat really makes it more durable.

      Hi! I am very surprised how strong a hot glue can be. I was using a hot gun to apply it. How do you apply it to give it the extra heat? Also with a hot air soldering gun? Thanks

    I can recommend something like Q-Bond, Visbella Speedy Fix or whatever other manufacturers call it for repairing broken plastics. Works much better than hot glue from my experience.

    Hi bud, another great vid, but unfortunately it wont last long, as those areas around the hinges take some real strain. Ive repaired hundreds of laptops with that issue, and ive tried everything going. I find the best thing to be JB weld, which takes a good bit to set fully, but when it does its like plastic and holdd the best out of everything ive tried. i guarantee yo that wont last long mate sadly, even with the hinges being loosened, which was also a good move, as they would have snapped instantly had yo not done that, which im sure you are well aware ! Keep p the great vids mate, ive been binge watching you for a week now lol 😁

    • @immersiongaming22
      @immersiongaming22 8 месяцев назад +1

      @repairwins hi mate thx fir your reply and tbh I don't anymore, as like I mentioned above, they rarely go the distance, as hot glue just isn't strong enough really to handle that kind of strain over a long period. As u probably know, laptop hinges just get stiffer and stiffer as the unit ages, due to dry lube and crap getting in between the hinge plates, so its inevitable that the strain will just get more and more overwhelming for the surrounding plastics. So my point is, ant weakness will soon become apparent and hit glue isn't really that strong as far as adhesives go, it's OK under pressure, but not that good with tension. I can totally belive though mate, that you will get yhe odd case where it will last, but as a whole its not the best stuff to use was my initial point, I found JB weld to be much stronger, as pnc3 its cured its as hard as the original plastic, sometimes harder! 😁 but as to how I applied it, it all depends on the break, as thet can break in a hundred different ways. It also depends if you still have the screw inserts and somewhere for them to be re-attached, as that can also add extra needed strength 💪. I found the best solution to be to superglue the inserts back in if you can, then screw the hinges back in as normal, once the superglue has set, then apply JB weld around the hinges to re infarct ghe area, as well as loosening or lubricating the hinges a touch if poss. I have applied it like in this vid before, as well as adding more over the top too, but again it doesn't last forever! 🫠 but again that's not to say that in some circumstances it won't be sufficient, just as a whole there is better solutions! 😉👍

    I've tried these methods, but usually that doesn't last more than 3 months. Cheap fragile plastic will break around the hot glue.
    Also, hot glue usually has less grip strength, rather than cyanoacrylate, but it is also not the best solution.
    If you have an option, I'd suggest epoxy resin, but it takes up to 72 hours for the final cure.
    If the back lid is any kind of metal, you'd better drill, make threads and use longer crews.
    For the base, my best method is to use melted plastic (the same, as the case) to make a mould and "solder" the nuts there again.

      I fixed laptops using this method up to 3 years now no return . the key is losing up the hinge little bit to reduce the pressure also to heat up the hinge to bond strong with hot glue. if it failed then you didn't do it right

    • @ilyashchukin90
      @ilyashchukin90 8 месяцев назад

      I'm also been doing it for four years and got a couple of returns when I used hot glue, cold welding, or just cyanoacrilate.
      Usually, if it is possible, I prefer to strengthen plastic with metal strings

    You could ask the customer if they use the Laptop out in the sun? and explain the hot glue could soften and then if they want it done that way or epoxy ect.

    Use baking soda and add super glue. It will bond solid and resist heat better than hot glue. Practice with it first so you understand how fast it works.
