He was charged with impersonating a “public official” (GDOT HERO - Highway Emergency Response Operator) not a police officer! He actually had been fired from GDOT about seven or eight months prior to this interaction. When the police found out that he lied about currently being a GDOT HERO they hunted him down & charged him with impersonating a “public official”.
By the end of the video this guy managed to talk himself into more trouble with the chief of police. He should have just taken the summons and drove away. Probably would have been dismissed anyway before it even went to Court.
THIS... This video right here.... is a perfect example of OLD cops vs NEW cops. The old timers want this officer to literally throw the book at this guy, the false speeding claim, the light codes, everything they can. Police impersonators are becoming much more prevalent nowadays it seems. I've helped the police catch two in my city within the last three months by just coincidentally driving by their fake stops. One had an odd make/model/color for an undercover police vehicle and the other was a legit looking undercover, but the "blue" light appeared to be more of a dark purple which I found to be off. The scariest part was they were both conducting traffic stops, and it was around midnight each time.
They're not. You're just seeing more of it. All these channels noticed how popular Dewitte videos were, so they started submitting FOIA requests for all impersonating videos.
Wonder how many ladies the fake cops “arrested”. Scary. This is why police get a bad name in some areas. They asked people to let them know if they had been pulled over by one of these impersonators & got lots of replies.
If you have an unmarked pulling you over.. don’t stop call 911 and find out first ask the the dispatcher and if she can confirm you pull over and she/he will most likely inform the officer as to why you did not stop
He looked like a security guard lol. Nobody’s going to stop for him in Mississippi. He has to have the blue lights and the gun. This is misdemeanor charge
I give respect to the initial responding officer who did a thorough research of the law, to his best interpretation. His fellow police officer, however; was more than ready to issue the ticket without further investigation, which is unfortunate to say the least. I do agree that the gentleman definitely deserved a ticket of some sort because if not in a official capacity, it is highly unfair to everyone else who has to sit and wait on traffic that he uses his “privilege “.
"chief didn't tell me how fast he was going" "then just get him on driving too fast for conditions" *Clearly nice ass day in the background* How do cops like this do that shit ON CAMERA and STILL keep their job?
@@zartey07 It's just because they are used to behaving like that. Slowly it will change. They like too fast for conditions because it "always" holds up. The officer is a TRAINED professional. So, in court it's your word "what does a lowly citizen know over a trained professional???" over an expert. Lol.
I don't think they ever had a light permit before.. usually a non city emergency vehicle. especially red. I doubt in most towns you can get a red light permit for personal vehicle
Personal Service..Right. He's just a Jeremy Dewitte wannabe 🤪 car registration is in his personal name. The dude has a legit "escort service" for funerals, he needs to register his vehicle as such. Lead cars from funeral home personnel for procession to cemetery from the funeral service are NEVER red and blue. They are white and amber. PERIOD
@@zartey07 "too fast for conditions" also applies to heavy traffic like rush hour not just rain or snow,so what you're implying is completely off base. Otherwise why would he try to use the lights to get around traffic which is why they pulled them over
Yeah, that Chief made up his mind as soon as he initiated the stop. Then he pressured CID to put felony charges on him. I don't agree with what he's doing, but the punishment should fit the crime. Make him take the lights and the uniform off.
He had a permit for the lights. The funeral escort business is a lucrative business that will undoubtedly have these issues until laws are changed to require them to be clearly marked. The problem is that these escort businesses want to appear authoritative and professional which is exactly what police want to project. To be clear, funeral escorts have zero LE power, but are authorized under law to operate flashing lights while escorting funeral traffic. This is to promote safety by being visible just like a car with flashing amber lights in front of and behind a wide load. Obviously no one should be under the impression that they're police officers but security guys also operate in this arena of "rent-a-cop". Not to disparage their trade, they serve a legitimate function.
@Leroy Jenkins I agree, my point was that the one cop is trying to figure out what the law actually is, but the other ones have no interest. They have their mind made up from the start.
My wife and I just watched this video. That police chief was spot on. Hats off to that chief and we wish all municipal police chief’s were that involved.
Was this GA? I understand GA is a huge Hotspot for trafficking. Teen/young adults get pulled over by a-holes like him, wouldn't know if to question or follow orders. 😡
Further more, it is a terrifying thought that people like this are in our communities around our unsuspecting family and friends and could be extremely dangerous and unpredictable to say the least......Be safe all and Peace!!
I'm amazed how thorough the officer is being regarding writing the ticket and if the driver broke a law. Very impressive and refreshing to see. Good job officer.
Its PATHETIC that he knows the consequences and STILL decided to cut through traffic and break the law. Give someone just a little tiny bit of power and they abuse it! I HOPE he gets "grinded" and gets his permits revoked in the future .
States can fix this problem easily, by mandating the following: All vehicles used by these companies (for escorts or whatever) be painted “school bus yellow “ and the only color strobing lights they can use on the vehicles is green and amber. The uniform shirt must be bright pink, or they must wear a HiVis pink vest (or coat) at all times while working. Legitimate companies would follow these rules and it would scare away the want-a-be cops because nobody would mistake them for police if they were dressed in pink and driving a “school bus yellow” vehicle
Jeremy Dewitte would get in trouble if he impersonated a school bus driver because he is a registered sex offender , who can’t be around children unsupervised
I think there needs to be a law that explicitly forbids outfit (and behavior) that for a normal citizen would appear to be law enforcement. "This is my uniform. Nothing on here says police". That's bullcrap. It is obviously meant to resemble a police uniform. The large symbol on the patch looks official and would make any writing saying "police" very small if it was on there. I believe that is intentional. And what's with the badge he flashed? I'd wish the officer on the scene would ask him at the end of the traffic stop "now, tell me what the patch on my clothing says". I bet he couldn't because he'd just assume it said police, which is exactly why you can't just say that a uniform is permissible because the word "police" is not there. I don't understand why amber and red are covered by the same law section. Amber just tells me to give a vehicle a bit more attention. Red would make me move out of the way.
there already are laws about this. we don't need more laws. the way it works in usa is that there's 1 law, and it's up to people to follow it. they don't just pass 10 other laws based on the 1 law because they saw 1 guy breaking the 1 law. that's silly socialist logic that's not how it works in usa.
Nah. Let people dress how they want. He is not authorized to stop or interrupt traffic for the reason he did. Get him for that. Not because he wants to look like a “badass”. Go down your path though, and pretty soon they’ll be saying plate carriers look like police gear.

Maybe u can post a link to the 2 fake cops u helped catch. I am sure the arrests must have made the news.
"I'm going to get grounded, AGAIN." Guilty as charged.

PERIOD
@@zartey07 "too fast for conditions"
also applies to heavy traffic like rush hour not just rain or snow,so what you're implying is completely off base.
Otherwise why would he try to use the lights to get around traffic which is why they pulled them over
The cop is literally reading the law and the other cop is just saying all red lights are illegal. "I don't care what the law is, I am the law!"
Yeah and amber isn’t red. That’s why he’s saying that.
@Leroy Jenkins I agree, my point was that the one cop is trying to figure out what the law actually is, but the other ones have no interest. They have their mind made up from the start.

States can fix this problem easily, by mandating the following:
All vehicles used by these companies (for escorts or whatever) be painted “school bus yellow “ and the only color strobing lights they can use on the vehicles is green and amber.
School bus driver impersonating would be at an all time high if that happened
Jeremy Dewitte would get in trouble if he impersonated a school bus driver because he is a registered sex offender , who can’t be around children unsupervised

"Sir, i need the searchlight on my car to find the coffin during a funeral."
Well the searchlight isn't illegal. But the nearly identical to a cop uniform is highly SUS
