Who said education is not important? The argument is that college education specifically is becoming irrelevant because of how easily available information is, not to mention how bad the colleges have become, and I fail to see how this speaks to that phenomenon at all. When Elon was getting his bachelor's that wasn't even the case. I'm a self taught engineer myself with 20 years experience. My employers don't care how I attained the information, just as long as I did. Meanwhile, I have a degree in poly-sci that has proven to be utterly useless in life. Earning it was one of my biggest mistakes.
