It's a huge tragedy in the Diablo story to have Sanctuary be destroyed and corrupted. And appears only Lilith saw It's truth potential in becoming a new direction to take that could have yielded hope for the world, the eternal conflict was going nowhere with no end in sight. Inarius and Lilith both started out optimistic and energized with Sanctuary but at the moment Inarius realized their offspring could be more powerfull than everyone else he acted irrational and filled with fear rather than embracing the opportunity to father and mentor the next generation to be better than himself. Nephilem with the right numbers and under strong leadership could have set a new standard for the universe that the heaven's and hells would have to consider or the very least couldnt do anything about. My counter to all of this is that eventually overtime humans become corrupted, some easier than others. But it seems Inarius never gave it a chance, and as a warrior commander in heaven, you'd think he would have been perfect for the task but failed missurably. Where as Lilith was tired of fighting and saw her offspring as a chance to shield Sanctuary from the rest by the super strength of the Nephilem and was robbed of her dream due to anothers fear of living before Sanctuary had a chance to grow.
This reminds of a college course I took last semester. This is actually a very common story in mythology around the world. God and goddess have children, the father fears their power and tries to kill them, and the mother defends her children only to be labeled a villain. Tiamat in Mesopotamian mythology did the same thing and, after her husband Anu tried to wipeout their offspring for being too loud (it’s true look it up), Tiamat is killed by Marduk. Marduk was causing some ruckus and Tiamat was asked to deal with him, so she was killed. It’s a heartbreaking story and I can’t help but get the same vibes with Lilith.
Inarius knows what happens when a demon or angel dies they get sent back and Inarius knew what Mephisto would do to her being that he is her father and also the lord of hatred who was betrayed by her he would rather seal her away for two reasons one because he could not bare to kill her and two to prevent her from suffering at the hands of her father.
@SCARLE 1 SEGS INFINITE from the events of reaper of souls all the prime evils were released after they were absorbed into maelthel with his defeat they were released lol
@@ericx6969 They cant be destroyed if a prime evil is destroyed they merely respawn back in hell its the reason soul stones are the solution. A soul stone is like a pocket dimension that has a one way door once your inside it the only way out is breaking the seal that keeps it intact. So in essence you can prevent a prime evil from respawning if you lock them away in a pocket dimension.
I think people are reading this like a bad marriage too much. I feel Liliths focus was on controlling her children and end the sinn war. Inarius wanted to escape it and create a world for himself that he could rule unchallenged. If Inarius wasn't interested in ruling he would have lasted much longer. Sapping the power of the Nephalim made humans seek power elsewhere and that opened the gates of hell. If he agreed with Lilith he would have been alright for a much longer time. It would have taken Hell and Heaven a much longer time to find out about Sanctuary. Since Tyrael was acting covert Inarius power at his base state is more than enough for Lilith to keep him as an Ally after she ended the sinn war. He could have survived even longer.
All these incel comments smh. Inarius and Lillith both had a common dream and risked their previous lives and roles to create Sanctuary. By no accounts did the Nephalem do anything bad other than have insane potential for power. It was a completely reasonable reaction for Lillith to oppose the decision of the council to kill her children. Inarius is a pathetic father to his children, and the villain in this story.
I am glad I have played all games and read a good portion of the written content. This is one of the few games that has good lore stretched over so many years. That has been congruent.
@@INFJ-ThaneTr I personally believed that when she was with Inarius back then, she would not have appeared as a horned and winged demon because she had intentions to seduce and decieve an angel; otherwise, not by a long shot, an angel would fall in love with someone with a monstrous appearance. She probably would have appeared in her fair image. She was described as being very beautiful in her human form as Lelia during the Sin Wars. @@jansandman6983 Except that he knew what she looked like as a demon since that's how they met for the first time. Inarius was literally her prisoner and she wasn't hiding her demonic form back then.
