20fps is usually what we consider a fully working port, since that was the hard coded limit of the original PC version. I think the PS1 version ran something like 10fps, at least sprite animations where limited to that, and the latest code base is able to continue running normally even if the FPS drops below 20fps so it's no longer an issue if it does.
@@AJenbo ah I see, that makes sense thanks. The reason why I found it unusual is that it's much smoother on emulator, running at around 40 fps, so I was shocked to see it drop by 20 something fps on real hardware.
@@codemonkeybusiness That's not to atypical, often emulated ram is both not limited or bandwidth constrained so that makes a big difference. Both the PS2 an PSP differs a lot from real hardware
