    They complain when you don't paint a car, then whine about how much sanding you're doing to paint this one! The 50 Ford is showing them how long paint takes, and just how much Chad knows about paint prep, which is a lot. Thanks for showing 'em how it is done!

    I actually have an associate degree in Autobody Paint & Refinishing a lifetime ago. I worked in that field but then changed professions several times. I also formulated color for an international company that sold coatings and color pigments for all color
    related industries and brands. So this is a nice refresher course on some of the new products as i have a upcoming project. So at this point the only thing different i prefered doing is 400 to 600 grit Wet sanding instead of dry sanding, it just a bit quicker and cleaner. By the way, the Beggati floor looks fantastic, I think your on to something there with the cloth textile hockey tape and Rock Guard.

      How about flatinging out runs from a week old fresh Rust-Oleum paint job? How much longer should I wait and what grit to handle it before repainting it?

    • @bkon4675
      @bkon4675 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@DJ-du1mf Hard to answer that question it can get technical. Don't know what's under Rustoleum, or how it was prepped or how large the area is. Rustoleum is probably enamel paint so consideration of what your next step is and what chemistry that step is. For example if your using lacquered base primer next over newish poorly prepped enamel your probably going to get a negative reaction. I'd have a tendency or want to remove it all. Course 40 grit to remove it all, 80 grit to try and save what's underneath, stepped up to 180 grit if there is something decent under that Rustoleum. A primer over coat then 400 grit. One thing to note if there is a original old paint aged is completely cured over time (I assume), likely enamel based and is in good shape you can use lacquer based primer over it. Do a small test.

    Will be glad when you start a new project car. Not much fun in watching sanding, mudding, sanding, priming, sanding, more sanding, three days of taping, then more sanding. With all this work, it seems like a shame you didn't rechrome the chrome and you aren't clear coating. My favorite build was your "35 Plymouth that you turned into a truck. I thought I heard you say you might be inclined to sell it. I bet if you would dedicate a showing of it, you would have a lot of people wanting to buy it. Any idea what you would want for it? Hey Chad, Jolene, one eyed Doug, & Fina, I hope everyone is doing well today! The car is going to look good when the 400 grit sanding is done. Chad I hope that Doug can see what he is doing with one eye! Just kidding Doug could'nt help myself! Jolene great work on the camera work & video. There is one car that I feel should be as close to perfect as possible and that is your Bugatti with all the time you have waited for it to be finished! I am just curious if the off white that you have chosen for it is single stage paint as well? Fina looked a little worn out today for some reason, I hope she is doing okay!

      Won’t be a candy, he said he’s planing to use single stage urethane.

      I'm thinking a candy also make it shine..like an apple 🍎
