I just tried this with pink sea salt. It turned out very pretty. Sort of gave a rose quartz look to it.
Great idea!!
That sounds like a beautiful idea! Did you use the coarse pink himalayan?
Do u have any pics or video of what it looks like
Angela Hawkins, Please put a pic of the pink sea salt you used for this, and the one you made!!
@@JenCombs Yes I used course pink sea salt
I was expecting some weird chemical reaction. This is gorgeous!!
same since epsom salt is made up of half water i was sure there would be a reaction lol
@@finkalo that can't be right. It's just magnesium crystals. There's no water in them, otherwise the crystals would dissolve. That's why there was no reaction.
@@bluefernlove pretty sure there's a Nile red video showing him take the water out of the salt with heat go check it out
@@finkalo it can't. The chemical formula is MgSO4 to get water you need H.
@@finkalo yeah but you have to take into account that salts are usually obtain through evaporation. I guess there's always going to be some water in them, depending on the process they were obtained. But the water is part of the molecular structure. In this case, the resin is too thick to act as a solvent for the crystals. And the heat produced by the resin is not enough to cause the salt to release the water.
In a lot of videos I see people making geodes using crushed glass. Literally has the same effect but much cheaper. You could try pouring the resin over the salts like you would sand, so you don't have that layering. Plus for coaster, it would give it texture to keep the cup from sliding.
I mix epson salt in my resin when I make my Geode keychains, coaster and wine butlers. If you put enough it gives it this cool effect then texture
Does it compromise the strength of the piece? I'm thinking areas with a lot of epsom salts where the resin is displaced would make it weak.
It’s really so much fun watching you do your resin experiments!! I don’t even have enough resin to experiment with, yet, so it’s great you’re able to do these for us!! Thank you!!
I use epsom salt to soak in and drink for body cleansing. Now I can use it in my resin designs 👍!
You drink the Epsom Salt Water after you soak in it too? My girl dont like it, says she can taste it🤷 I asked her what it tastes like n she just says its nuts
They are gorgeous. I love the effect & it is great to see how versatile it is being able to use ink, mica, glitter & on it's own. Great experiment
I'm shocked! They look like coloured glaciers! Absolutely stunning Steve
Really cool, reminds me of granite, counter tops.
Right..... so why not I ask myself !
What a great resin idea! I love this. Thanks again, Steve. Another winner!
Gorgeous coasters and great gift idea!
I think it would be cute in anything, dominoes, jewelry coasters etc
Absolutely beautiful!! I love the clear ones. Thank you for sharing this!!!!
❣🌸🌺❣🌸🌺❣🌸🌺❣
Thank you. I was thinking about that recently. You answered it for me.
Interesting, I agree the Epsom salts would look fantastic in a geo mould. Surprisingly nice effects! Love your experiments 🧪
I really like this effect! Beautiful!
How fun! Very interesting! Totally inspired to try it out on our channel and do a geode! Thank you for the inspo!
Thank you. Nice of you .
You are such a wonderful artist!!
"LOVE YOUR ACCENT". AND YOUR IDEAS AND YOUR SENSE OF ENTHUSIASM
I love the mica with the full size salts. Stunning
They turned out great! I really like them a lot.
Thanks Steve! I love your videos, even these older ones. I just finished putting resin with all kinds of mica powders in the grooves of some dragonfly wind chimes. I'm going to fill the backs and the hanging rings with this epsom salt technique. I plan on using translucent resin pigments with these. I think they will look awesome! Thanks again for always experimenting and showing us the results. I have learned a ton from your channel.
I love your channel you try so many things. Thanks for helping
This was a very educational video. This definitely inspired new ideas. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
I love the multi color ones!!
Love watching all your experiments
I use this in my geodes all the time, it looks so nice. Great video thanks for sharing.
Fantastic! Can't wait to try this!
Very cool effect. I totally agree about the geode idea. Would look really cool!
This is amazing. Love the video!
I loved this. I was also wondering about the ebson salt. Happy to see that it works. Thank you
Interesting I would have expected it to break down. Thanks for the experiment!
Love this!! Thanks for the idea.... Im going to be using this idea in my next set of ash trays i do
Thank you!!!
I LOVE THESE!!
I’m new to resin crafts. Happy to have found your channel.
Thank you for your experiment! Very interesting.
I've been using Epsom salt in my resin for a couple of yrs now i love it.
These look great. Amazing job
Love your voice and accent. So much better and more fun than most!
Surprised how cool that works!
Learned something new. Thank you
Simply awsome! Lv it!
Thank you for the experiments...I'm learning n laughing
Brilliant idea
Gorgeous work!
That’s pretty cool, I would never have thought to put Epsom Salt into resin
Love the video, I’ve been looking for something to give the effect you got here, I shall give it a go, thanks.
Learned something new just now brilliant..thanks ..
I too have never though of using Epsom salts in my resin. Something I am going have to try!
The clear ones ate stunning. Then the blue translucent is my next favorite
I love it for fake snow. On my Wreaths and Christmas ornaments.
Yes 🙌🏼 that was my first thought too.
Awesome 💯 as always tyfs😁
Brilliant!!!👏👏👏👍
Very cool Steve have a good one
I really like this video 😊
I’d love to build an auditorium with this type of material. Leftovers from San Diego desalination plant. Perhaps a group effort in an oasis.
Awesome I was planning on trying Himalayan rock salt mixed with rose quartz on my next geode .... didn’t think of these
I like the experiment! It worked!
Thank you!
Wow didn't think that would work Steve, but the effects are lovely. I love the white one - thank you :)
OMG! Absolutely cool.
Wonder how you came up with this idea👍
This is my 1st time watching your videos. Your being very inquisitive and letting us learn from your trying things. Thanks!! I have joined to see more. I'm excited to see what you will show us next.
I do so love you! Love from Michigan, USA
I love the experiments. I tried some automotive pearl essence powders and got some interesting results
Ohhh I love it!❤️
New subscriber here! Love how the coasters came out. I like the ones with the bigger chunks of salt , great video :-)
Thanks for sharing
Steve Darling this experiment was fascinating and your right that Epsom salt is a great additive. 😘
That's funny you mentioned geodes, because I was thinking that your multicoloured ones there look like geode slices. Really cool experiment!
I need this mans energy
Really cool.
They ALL would make awesome countertop material, wow!
Epsom salts wasn't something that I would have thought to use but it does come out nicely
I had wondered what would happen if various salts were added to resins. Thank you for trying it out for us.
Thank you!!
Amazing… Going to the store tomorrow to buy some Epsom salts
I love it!!
Awesome!
Thank you
Really cool
Very cool! Nice substitute for that crazy expensive crushed glass for sure.
I love it!! To me the salt gave it granite or soap stone look. 😊😊
😍 Awesomeness! Thank you for sharing. Soooo many ideas come to mind with this. New sub here. 😁 You do a great job explaining it. Thanks
New things to try
😸
Great 👍🏽 thanks
Really like watching you when you work on the craft learning from you. Giovanna lorusso from Chicago.
This is gorgeous. I will try with Imalaia solt. Hags from Greece
Wow… could make some awesome geodes with this!
Thank you ao much👍👏👏👏
I quiet enjoy your tutorials and your project looks amazing !! Makes me want to try my hand at it. Lol.
Depending on where you are. The small kits shouldn't be very expensive at a hobby store. Give it a try. Etsy for molds, glitter, pigments and other random things.
You've got to try salt rocks! It's gorgeous!
I saw someone do this in key rings - I tried it but mine went a runny mess when demoulded - I’ll have to try again as I love your coasters 😁
Very cool
It’s nice to know that the epsom salt doesn’t cause the stuff to explode all over you while working with it.
Nice experiment, as always. By the way, glitter likes mobile phone light (the torch function). It shows the shine well.
I always use coarse salt for my inspired crystal charms☺☺
Brilliant
wow im a new suscriber now! but the design without al of the salt is simply amazing !
LOVE THEM
