The Cherry Quin Red was one of the names I was hunting for! Thanks! Hooker's Green isn't the most glamorous of greens, but can't do trees and bushes without it! Roman Szmal's Sap Green is a bit more vivid than what I'm used to. I'm used to seeing their Sap Green Light identified as Sap Green.
Ohhh your swatch card is gorgeous and I’m jealous of your collection lol! I’ve only just started collecting Roman Szmal paints and good lordy are they DELICIOUS. I’m a sucker for granulating pigments especially ones that split like misty morning; currently in my limited little collection I’m obsessed with both urban grey and goethite and using them together to make soft and natural colours. Definitely giving you a follow this was a really nice watch!!
Awww thank you so much for your lovely comment and for subscribing! Really glad you enjoyed the video and your Roman Szmal paints! I loveee them 😂❤️ They are currently on sale again btw and if you use my link bit.ly/3rst4Uc and code SCRUBS10 you’ll get 10% off your whole order lol Spreading the joy x
First time watcher. I was delighted to see that you are a doctor. This makes sense. Of course you're into the nerdy aspects of the paint. As a former physio turned software engineer, I really appreciate that. Can't wait to catch up on your channel. Over 100 comments and only 6000+ subscribers, tells me this channel has a lot of potential that the world hasn't discovered yet.
Right now my favorite color is transparent red oxide by Daniel Smith. I want the Jane Blundell set by Roman Szmal but it is out of stock at the moment. I'm a new subscriber and very much enjoy your love of color!
OMGoodness! I think I found my home!! Your video was perfection; the filming, the closeups, the clarity of the information and your color chart -- great idea!. Bravissima!!! Some of the Szmal convenience colors separated beautifully. I prefer making my own mixtures and I"m wondering if anything special is done in manufacturing these particular colors to increase the separation. In any case, I'm going to try it on my own. Also, I was surprised that PV122 is considered very lightfast. Daniel Smith says it's very good, not excellent. I was also surprised by the Sea Blue, PB28 -- it was so light and greenish for a cobalt blue. I think I'll try the Perylene Green; it looks like it has more life than mine. And a few others. . . .Thank you!!!!
Awwww!! Thank you so much!! This is so nice of you! I'm sorry for the late reply (I work full time as a doctor, and have fallen behind on replying to the comments, although I read them all!) Thank you for your kind words, I am really glad you enjoyed the video. Prego! You are more than welcome! You may enjoy my swatching playlist for even more videos :D though I must admit... this is also one my favourites xx
I love how you draw little flowers for your swatches! Very practical and so much nicer than just a black line. It really makes your swatch sheet look like a little work of art. The Shadow violet light does look interesting, but my favourite is the Cobalt sea blue.
It always tickles me that people compare Mineral Violet to Rose of Ultramarine when it looks like Daniel Smith's Imperial Purple the bluer PB29/PV19 combo. Every single RUclipsr brings up Rose of Ultramarine but I guess they just haven't tried Imperial Purple?
This is so beautiful! I love my Roman Szmal Colours, and you did a fabulous job swatching them!!! If the colours are super sticky, put them in the freezer for a while. You can remove the papers better after that! 😊
You weren't kidding! These are highly fall-in-loveable!! That Quin Magenta made my eyes pop! Well heck, now I have to buy Misty Morning! 🤣❤️ Autumn Green, too, was fire. Thanks for the awesome video!
Way too difficult to select just one favorite! You can count on me to always watch your entire video regardless of how long!! I enjoy your excitement and content… You remind me of a student I taught years ago (I’m nearly 64) and was very special.. Sending blessings Nancy Rolfe
Beautiful swatch sheet!! I like how you swatch in so many different ways… so pretty and keeps it interesting. I ❤ potter’s pink in all the brands I’ve tried it in; I just love it for sand and for tree bark that is in the light. I bought the 24 pan Jane Blundell set of Roman Szmal paints before my low buy started, but I still haven’t tried them! Saving them for when the urge to buy hits, I’ll know that I have something new to play with lol. I know I’m going to want to order some individual colours after I try them. Hmmmm… “the gray that shall not be named?” I cannot pronounce that name, at least I shop online so would never have to ask for it 😂.
I am so glad you did this, I’ve been looking to get a few more R. Szmal watercolors. Misty morning was a pleasant surprise to me, I love ocean blue, and the violets and purples came out so beautifully! I didn’t realize the Quin. Cherry was exclusive, I love Quinacridone colors! Thank you!
Been using oils and acrylics for decades. I’m here because I’m looking into watercolors and this is by far the most enjoyable swatch demo I’ve seen so far. Good job! Thanks for giving me a very clear look into Roman Smalz paints, this batch of colors is particularly appealing to me.
Swatching videos are so addictive, I've seen Roman Szmal being swatched by like 10 different artists at this point and I still had fun watching you do it! Misty morning is my favorite color in the whole range, it looks so magical 💖
I just love your little botanical illustrations! I’m chomping at the bit waiting for my 4 more RS COLORS! That will make just 35, but I’m grateful for them all. 🥰 I was so surprised with my Quin Gold Hue. It glows like no other yellow I own. I don’t yet have a all time RS fave, but my emptiest pan is the Aquarius green! I paint a lot of trees. 🌲🌴🌳
This was great! You’re swatches show the colors and their individual characteristics so well! Thank you for sharing your doodles! I was going to ask and I have NEVER asked for anyones doodles prior to this…lol. I’d pay for it!! I was so impressed by yours. I always enjoy hearing your joyful voice and all you share.. Blessings and thank you again! Nancy Rolfe
This is insanely helpful, I've been wanting to get some of these watercolors and create a small pallet and this gives me a good starting point :) thanks
I just watched the entire video for the second time!!! You did a fantastic job comparing some colors I was deciding on…. Just know you are appreciated!!! P.S. it’s late and I’m finally relaxed 😊 I’m just so happy that you were given the entire set. I have to admit I’d have done the same thing because you truly got so excited about the brand when you were swatching the first ones you bought!! Plus, you were really surprised and just super happy😊. I believe you were a little overwhelmed by deciding how to swatch the entire set but you are fantastic with your painting and comparison. I’m nearly 65 and retired math teacher…..you would most definitely have been a special student who was just a ray of sunshine with such a vibrant yet kind spirit. You are just a doll!!❤ Blessings, Nancy Rolfe I don’t always comment but I do watch and like your videos. (in some cases more than once)😂
Are you kidding? You wanted me to pick a (I assume you to mean ONE) color?😂 Roman Szmal has SO many beautiful ones!! I'm definitely a fan of their colors & transparency. Beautiful paints. I've just run across your RUclips channel and have fallen in love. Thanks for all the great work you do! 🎉
Can’t pick a favorite. That musty morning is magical though, like unicorns and cotton candy! Loooove the cobalt sea I believe it’s called, and the ocean blue
I LOVE Mineral Violet and Misty Morning!! I really love the way you swatch with the botanical line drawing underneath to check for opacity - I’m going to have to adopt your swatching style because I don’t normally check for opacity.
I just received my Jackson’s order and I was putting my additional Roman Szmal paints in my palette while I watched this video. My recent go to colors seem to be Buff Titanium, Pzybysz grey and Goethite.
