GM STILL not painting their frames?!?! That wax coating flakes off the bare metal frames in a few years and starts looking like a sea barge, especially in the North East! COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE at that price!!!
That color is amazing. That truck overall is amazing. It seems like GM has started working on reliability the last couple of years, so hopefully that pays off
I wish GM had an extend range tank for their 1500 line up. Instead of the 24 gallon tank that comes on a off-road vehicle with a big v8 and 33s. The 6.2 also takes premium fuel.
I've never driven an off road truck that rides as good as these trucks with the Multimatic DSSV Suspension. I've got a ZR2 and it's my favorite thing about the truck. Rides as good as my Can Am SXS.
Those shocks are cool and all, but replacement cost are probably very expensive. I can see people replacing them with a good but cheaper off road shocks.
Probably not a concern for quite some time, but once that time eventually comes I’d hope they’d be serviceable as well instead of requiring full replacement.
Like all things, if you can afford a $80k truck, the assumption is you can afford a $1,500 shock at each corner. The MagneRide shocks for our GMT were over $1k each when new, but they've come down in price quite a bit. By the time you hit 150k miles and need replacement, there will probably be options out there.
I just saw the identical truck over the weekend. Very sharp. Try putting a white tape mark on the hoist, so you can line up over the hitch. That way it'll always start out dead center.
11:42 Ride quality (aka comfort) is nice but it is not the primary function of shocks on a vehicle. They are actually meant as safety devices. The shocks on a vehicle are meant to keep a vehicle’s wheels/tires in contact with the road surface, there by allowing the driver to maintain control.

That payload is terrible! 1000lbs! How does this truck have less payload than my wife’s Subaru Forester? What’s the point if you can’t load all your camping gear and coolers and the family and go camping for the weekend without overloading it.
They have lost all sight of what a truck is for. There is no reason you can’t both have a reasonable payload, and go off-road. I bet they could pick up 400 lbs of payload if they ditched the massage chairs from the mall. I was serious about the forester, it has between 200 and 400 more pounds of payload than this enormous truck.

I had frame mounted side steps on my 2014 Silverado, but I was not able to find any for my 2018. The side steps are attached to the under door rockers, and not very durable.
Why not pull forward/straight onto the lift? and the body makes for a wide truck, not the tires. Unless you have wide tires sticking out past the body and fender flares. LOL
Yeah, i was sort of wondering the same thing, why didn’t they just raise it higher and just stood up normally under it..? It made them look awkward the majority of the video.

This is exactly what I like to see with a truck review, actually underpinnings of the truck, not just explaining what the headlights look like
Or have useless ads for a Attorney's office.
I wish they offered packages like this on the lower trims so you can get the off road equipment without all the unnecessary bells and whistles.

There is an issue with the 10-speed blowing up? Same basic design as Ford so if so we’re in big trouble.

Six minutes of b/ s and a twenty minute video

The same amount to screw in a light bulb
That was so awkward. They made it seem like it was a big deal. Use your mirrors and back the damn thing up.

Surprised there was a skidplate for the rear diff, but there wasn't any protection for those high dollar shocks.

All depends on the materials choice, thickness and general design and construction. Would almost be akin to judging a book by the cover.
Payload too low and it should come with a winch
I think the gap is for the heat of the catalytic converters. The surface rust shouldn’t exist on a new truck, but easily dealt with by rust converter
Easier to steal them too... since that's ALL the rage these days.
The gap is for the potential catalytic thief.👹
the skid plates and the bumpers are made out of boron. AEV started using it when they redesigned the Jeep bumpers.

Rust on the ends of the half shaft is literally a non issue. that steel is so dense it makes no difference
