'Megitsune' is one of their most popular songs, but also one of their earliest, should give that one a go next. When it came out, the singers were 14, 12 and 11. Not sure if the person that suggested this gave you a brief intro to them, but theyre a fusion of metal and the Japanese "Idol" culture, and were the first band to create the now called "Kawaii-Metal" genre, which is quite literally just cute metal, starting with lyrical songs of cute things that little girls like and deal with daily sort of thing, but have grown and branched out into less girly things as theyve grown up.
To get the full brunt of BABYMETALs stage performance i wholeheartedly recommend "Road of Resistance" live in Japan (official). With that you can understand what they are doing. Trust me.

Welcome to the Babymetal "foxhole". Here we get The Kami Band doing the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro with Aoyama Hideki (drums), BOH (bass), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), Leda Cygnus (blue guitar). They are dressed as spirits of the dead which is significant in BM lore, but let's concentrate on the music for now. RON is one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give the other two girls, Moa and Yui, a chance to rest. Great reaction, thanks! "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, and she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide from. Finally she gives up and ask the entity to show its real nature. This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and high platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due the spotlight. Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. BABYMETAL started in 2010, 3 girls aged 12 and 11. In this video you saw the lead singer Su-metal, this is one of her solo songs. This was March 2014, she was only just 16. She will be 24 in a week or so from now. The other two girls are Yuimetal and Moametal, they provide backing vocals and harmonies and they are in charge of hyping the crowd, getting everybody involved and acting as a bridge between the band and the audience. Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 following a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo and through 2019-21 they were supported by 3 more girls who would take turns to dance in the third spot. The band at the start are the Kami Band who support BABYMETAL in all live shows. Kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums, summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL - so they wear traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint. They are the very best session musicians to be found in Japan and they can play anything. They all have their own bands and projects, so there have been quite a few Kami Band members swapping in and out depending on their availability, but there is a hard core of 5 or 6 who have played the vast majority of shows. In this video they were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH with his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. More recently the Kami Band wear black robes and masks and for the US and European tours of 2019 and 2020 a new Kami Band of the West (American musicians) supported BABYMETAL. To see all 3 girls and what else they can do (they have about 50 songs and every one of them is different) I would suggest the Legend of 1997 (Su-metal's 16th birthday show in December 2013) performance of 'Headbanger' or 'Megitsune'. I see 'Road of Resistance' live in Japan has also been suggested - great song and greater performance but you will have to hide the video behind a transparent logo or something to avoid it being blocked.
Yes, Yui sadly left, but Amuse continue to keep her on their books even though she has made no public appearances in 4 years. So the Yui story is not yet complete...

For all the others you will ned to put a transparent logo on top or play a bit with the video opacity, otherwise they will most likely get blocked. Since you liked those solos, I highly recommend you to watch "Kagerou" live, since it has a really SICK Drum solo :D
Kamiband: We're gonna melt your faces with our awesome solos! Su~metal: Hold my matcha latte. Any singer might feel a bit intimidated having to follow the Kamibands solos, but Su just gives you a vocal performance, proving why Babymetal was built around her vocals.
@@JoJoLewis As I've seen, The One (babymetal fanbase) is already flooding your comments. Enjoy the ride. 50+songs and none sound the same. A good place to start next is either Headbanger from their Legend 1997 (Year of Su's birthday) Concert, Karate from Download 2016, or IDZ from Sonisphere 2014. IDZ is probably the more important one, since it's their first overseas show at a real metal festival. They were suppose to be on a smaller stage, but due to Gimme Chocolate going viral, they were moved to the big stage. Against a somewhat confused and even a bit hostile crowd (they were seen as a gimmick), they won them over, and had them screaming for more. 🤘🦊🤘
Su's voice is amazing it just cuts through the metal music and it is even more impressive when you see them live . What to react to Road of Resistance live in Japan or Headbangèr but any of there songs are great and worth watching 🤘🦊🤘
@@JoJoLewis there is no "wrong" song to start with ;-) This band is just Awesome. But i can give you a suggestion to continue with. The song "oh Majinai" live in japan from this year. it features Joakim Broden (from Sabaton) and I am sure This alone is reason enough to check it out ;-) Link below. ruclips.net/video/PR6SYEK7tD8/видео.html enjoy the journey. And I am now going to check out your reation to Markos´ "the Islander" at Tampere.
Nice energetic reaction, welcome to the foxhole. Stay metal and stay Babymetal! I am sure you will get a lot of responses on your next reaction regarding Babymetal.
That was a fun reaction! As a drummer I think you'll find yourself pretty happy with every Babymetal song, because most tracks give the drummer quite the workout. Most of Babymetal's songwriters seem to love those double kicks. Hideki Aoyama, who plays in the vast majority of their live shows, is an absolute machine. There are a few other songs that typically have intros like this one at live shows. I'd recommend you check out the "Budokan Black Night" performance of "Catch Me If You Can" next. Same concert as this performance. You'll also get a ton of recommendations for Headbanger at the "Legend 1997" concert, which I agree is a great next video.
Lead vocalist Su-metal started singing at around 6 years old with her older sister Himeka nakamoto and has great control over her voice perfect pitch and and a five or six octave range
Babymetal is actually three girls, well since 2018 just two girls, with Su the main singer and Moa and Yui dance and backupvocals. Rondo of nightmare is one of Su-Metals Solos so the other two can have a break. The musicans are called the Kami band and are Sessionmusicans that switch out. Babymetal is a fusion of metalmusic and j-pop vocals and the sweet adorable image of the girls. They have been around since 2010. When Koba-Metal (producer) created Babymetal the girls were between 11-13 years old. He chose Su for her strong Stagepresent and her vocal genius, Moa and Yui for their Twin like cutness and compatible voices.
@@JoJoLewis I sure do! I would suggest either "Headbanger", and here is a link to a very good compilation video of the song that includes footage from around 10 different shows - ruclips.net/video/E8pcFhPZQYg/видео.html, or "Megitsune"...this is one of the songs that the official music video is really worth checking out ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html. Looking forward to more!
Nice man! If you really want to dive deep there is over 10 years worth of concerts, interviews, tv appearances, collabs etc. At this point BABYMETAL is for many fans more like a lifestyle #notacult. I can suggest for you to do a reaction to "Beginner's Guide to BABYMETAL" by CrypticMisery. It gives you well presented information about the bands history and basically all the basic information of the band. Also for song suggestions I would say there are many...many songs that are amazing. And also there are countless concerts that all have differences. For example what you saw here was Budokan 2014 stage setup. There is bigger and smaller stages. Stages that move, have elevators, coffin shape, triangular shape, fox designs. All kinds of cool stuff. So next maybe go with the Headbanger! (Legend 1997 (actually it's 2013 but Su was born 1997 so thats where the name came from for the show)). That stage setup is also cool with the statue but please keep in mind that it was recorded 2013 so they were still very young then. Also other thing...the dance is very important aspect of BABYMETAL. It's pure art!
Before I knew about kawai metal I called Babymetal happy metal because it made me happy every time I heard them. This is really a deep rabbit hole, look up Megitsune, Karate, Road of Resistance, anything from Sonisphere, anything Babymetal at all.
The Kami band are god tier , so is Su-Metal. The band love to play for her as they are normally told with other singers to keep it down so not to drown the lead singer, but with Su-Metal they are told to go hard as you like, she will sing over any amount of metal.
you have just heard a band like no other. no two songs from them sound alike. they do so many different genres of metal and are good at each one. here Su, the lead singer, was only 16 years old. you mentioned how she has a strong stage presence? you aint seen nothing yet. we as fans dont call Queen Su for no reason. she commands the crowd and they do what she wants. there are two more girls that are part of Babymetal that dance to metal. i know sounds weird but it works. the choreography adds to the show, you said you are a drummer so to show how good this drummer is, i would recommend Amore. the drummer in this song is a machine. also his father and brother i think are both outstanding drummers so it runs in the family. you will not be disappointed in reacting to more Babymetal. enjoy your journey.
as said before headbanger also awadama fever, doki doki morning, Shanti Shanti Shanti, and well most of the rest lol no rain no rainbow if you want to hear su and the band at the complete other end of the spectrum
Absolutely great first reaction to our 16 year old Queen and the Kami Band! Your reaction to the Kami intro was great but, it got even better when Queen Su, Goddess of all that is Metal, arrived on scene. Love the enthusiasm! Subbed for your Babymetal journey. Come on down the Foxhole and put your Kitsune Up! 🤘🦊🤘
Superb reaction to Su Metal Goddess!! Amazing performance and song that I have been listening for years. Never fails to give me goosebumps everytime. Notice one of the thumbail at the end of the video shows Tarja Turunen. Another Goddess of Metal you should check out for phenomenal performance. Try: Nightwish - The Phantom of The Opera (Live)
Dancing in the dark 2 meters above a rotating stage, a 16yr old Suzuka sings of an Unending Nightmare of being chased by a Faceless Terror and begging a Boon that it show her Its Face just once before she dies. That's Metal. That's Babymetal!! Put your Kitsune Up!! Po!
@@JoJoLewis Yep, 16 and she had to be 'Reborn' to perform on this stage...(you'll find out about that later). And she was just 12 when she first performed Live as the lead singer of the "Heavy Music Club" in Sakura Gakuin (the Idol group that spawned Babymetal) and was in a previous Idol group called "Karen Girls" when she was just 10yrs old. So she has chops. Suzuka is currently 23yrs old. Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
More EPICA pls. Victims of Contingency from Omega Alive is such a banger, heavier EPICA at it's finest! Great reaction you have like always, but I really can't get into BABYMETAL, I tried countless times but no they still didn't grabbed me.
Most common words when reacting to BABYMETAL: phenomenal, epic, performance, stage presence, crowd control, voice and dance. WTF, dude, and bro do not apply. Know what I'm sayin! LOL
Good reaction! I would highly recommend checking out Headbanger live at Legend 1997 next to see the rest of the band. Su (the lead singer) is amazing, but she's only part of what makes them truly great. :) 6:55 watched T2 recently, have we? ;) 8:26 yes, there's an effect on her voice; also the vocals in that part are actually a pre-recorded backing track (the rest of the vocals are indeed live though) You mentioned adding this to your playlist; just to warn you, the studio version of this is nowhere near as good as the live. It doesn't have the intro, and Su's vocals are both not as emotional and more processed/compressed. The intro I can live without, but it's the feeling you hear in her live voice that really makes this song for me.
At 8:25. It’s actually not an effect. She’s pushing her nose against the mic to make that sound. I thought the same thing until I listened to the audio from her in ears a few months ago. Crazy 😭
@@JoJoLewis It's actually a bit controversial: a musician reactor tried that and said it works and you can do it without added effects, while another reactor that asked a music technician for help, said that it was definitely an effect added to the voice, so we are not sure :D
Nice reaction. A Su-metal solo song as your first Babymetal tune. WoW Since you got to experience the greatness of both Su and the back up band known as the Kamiband. You need to witness the Full group now. Which means it's time to go to the start. Babymetal's first song and video. Doki Doki Morning. From here you can grow with the group. Literally since they started when Su was 12 and Yui and Moa were 10. The talent and skills of Babymetal even shine at that age. You're in for a ride. Enjoy your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.
I cant believe they are so young. I only found out after I uploaded the Video and wow It is crazy to me that they are so unbelievably talented. Im so excited to see the rest of the band!
@@JoJoLewis Here's a kicker for you. They started over 10 years ago. Way back in 2010. Su-metal the glorious lead singer has her birthday coming up on Dec 20th. I think she's gonna be 24. Whoooow how time flies when you're having fun watching Babymetal. For her birthday do another Su solo like "Amore" because the fans love her.

Yes, Megitsune was the song that dragged me into the Babymetal rabbithole. Before I knew about kawai metal I called them Happy metal, because they made me happy everytime I heard them.
You really need to watch more rock and metal concerts if you're that blown away by a drummer getting a 10 second solo spot. ;) The only guy you rarely see get a solo spot in rock and metal is the bassist. If you want some excellent drumming, check out Tool.
Since you saw Su solo...It's only right you get to see the other two do one of their solo songs. "Sis Anger" is a great starting point. "Black BabyMetal" in da house! 🤘🦊🤘 #Notacult

@@JoJoLewis "Small Japanese woman", sheesh! Su-metal will be 24 on December 20th (16 in this vid) & she's all the way up to 5' 2" & maybe as much as 100 pounds! 😁 Enjoyed your reaction. Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
In the Japanese metal scene I would recommend: Vinushka by Dir en Grey (live eng subs) Shion by MUCC Kurenai (The Last Live) by X Japan The Promised Flag by Galneryus え・い・り・あ・ん (read A · L · I · E · N) by Maximum the Hormone
@@JoJoLewis Babymetal got a lot of inspiration form X-Japan, and their song "Akatsuki" it's a direct reference to Kurenai. If you do "Alien" from Maximum the Hormone, be prepared for a wild ride :D Just a little bit of information: in the song they will be saying sometimes the word "WINNY"... That was the Japanese equivalent of Napster :)
If you want more drum solos, they seem to happen pretty often in Japan. Band Maid has at least a few short solos in every song, and the drummer gets a good one in Domination. The live version, anyway. Babymetal lets the band have their solos in one portion like this, per show. Nice way for the girls to take a break.
FORGIVE ME BUT I NEED HELP? PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL BABYMETAL FANS THAT, CARL REACTS, DUMPS ALL OVER BABYMETAL AND THE FANS. I HAVE NO RIGHT TO ASK FOR HELP BUT THE SADIST INSULTER IS MAKING ALL REACTORS LOOK BAD.
@@JoJoLewis i don't realy like them beacuse they are kawaii metal band and i don't realy like kawaii metal beacuse it's 50% heavy metal and 50% jpop and i don't like jpop so much
@@luka_apic Well for their first album (especially) I see why you wouldn't like them 'cause the jpop side was really emphasized as it was pretty much in "beta" coming from a "Jpop school". But I think you didn't listen that much of them as for example this song "Rondo of Nightmare" where except the fact that Su sings with a voice that's more pop'ish than your usual metal band, there's not a single aspect of Jpop in it. If you wanna try more, and see how many different styles have been used by the band, I'd suggest "Tales Of The Destinies" for some prog' or "Akatsuki" for power ballad. I know that I'm not 1000% objective as I'm a huge fan of them but seeing people stuck on their first album feels like a pity to me for them not discovering how much they can do ! :)

No compilation videos please! They take away so much from the true Babymetal experience :)
@@JoJoLewis Megitsune LIVE, Karate LIVE and Headbanger Live are the only 3 that are safe for reaction.
It honestly blew me away!
Welcome to ( THE ONE ). You have now stepped into the realm of the Fox God.
Su's voice is amazing it just cuts through the metal music and it is even more impressive when you see them live . What to react to Road of Resistance live in Japan or Headbangèr but any of there songs are great and worth watching 🤘🦊🤘
Thank you so much for the suggestion!
Thanks for Reacts
神バンド!
QUEEN SU!
Interesting choice for a first Babymetal impression. Kami-Band on fire, Rocking their souls out and Su all alone on the stage.
Which song would you have suggested I start off with?
@@JoJoLewis there is no "wrong" song to start with ;-)
This band is just Awesome. But i can give you a suggestion to continue with. The song "oh Majinai" live in japan from this year. it features Joakim Broden (from Sabaton) and I am sure This alone is reason enough to check it out ;-)
Link below.
ruclips.net/video/PR6SYEK7tD8/видео.html
enjoy the journey.
And I am now going to check out your reation to Markos´ "the Islander" at Tampere.
Nice energetic reaction, welcome to the foxhole. Stay metal and stay Babymetal! I am sure you will get a lot of responses on your next reaction regarding Babymetal.
Im so excited to see whats next from Babymetal!
8:22 I was wonder that when I first see it too, BUT LOOK CLOSELY IN THIS, it's her put the mic up her nose here to make that sound I believe 🤣
Que mujer más impresionante la energía que proyecta es gigantesca
I am glad you enjoyed it! Also thank you so much for the suggestions! I will absolutely add them to the list!!!
"Headbanger" by Babymetal (Live. Legend of 1997).
Lead vocalist Su-metal started singing at around 6 years old with her older sister Himeka nakamoto and has great control over her voice perfect pitch and and a five or six octave range
That’s actually wild. She is so talented!
I personally think "Headbanger" at the Legend of 1997 concert is a solid first exposure to the full-group Babymetal live experience.
I think I already Promised another Song to be next but I can make sure Headbanger comes after that!
Great reaction, and welcome to Babymetal JoJo! Looking forward to you experiencing more of their unique style of music!
Thank you! I am so damn excited to see and hear more from BABYMETAL. Do you have any suggestions?
@@JoJoLewis I sure do! I would suggest either "Headbanger", and here is a link to a very good compilation video of the song that includes footage from around 10 different shows - ruclips.net/video/E8pcFhPZQYg/видео.html, or "Megitsune"...this is one of the songs that the official music video is really worth checking out ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html. Looking forward to more!
So, so cool. I have not seen a fresh Babymetal reaction this good in so long. Thanks for the reminder of just how good they are. Queen Su!!
‘“Kagaru”with the Kami Band intro has a great drum solo too. It’s the Western Kami Band, so you can see the difference.
Y ahora que la banda se disolvió nos queda hacer nido en la nostalgia. Mi gran amor se llama babymetal.

What songs would you suggest?
@@JoJoLewis Rondo of Resistance and The One Live Version, really really magic and magnificent, trust me 🥺🥺🥺🥺💞💞💞💞
Before I knew about kawai metal I called Babymetal happy metal because it made me happy every time I heard them. This is really a deep rabbit hole, look up Megitsune, Karate, Road of Resistance, anything from Sonisphere, anything Babymetal at all.
For some reason I forgot Akatsuki, there are so many Babymetal songs you could dive into.
Thank you! I am so excited to see more from BABYMETAL and your Comment really helps! Thank you!!!
i would reeeally recomment band maid "freedom live" for some nice drumming
Babymetal, Blackpink, and Nightwish all on the same channel?! It doesn't get any better than this
Her voice so amazing , great voice.
I was actually blown away!
For the fan of extreme metal drumming in you: Take a look to Italy! Check out Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation!
If you want to hear a truly awesome drum solo check out "In a gadda da vida" by Iron Butterfly.
Good reaction, I think we have another convert to the BabyMetal Galaxy, enjoy the journey!!
Thank you for the kind words! I absolutely am keen to hear more BABYMETAL So I think you are right!
The Kami band are god tier , so is Su-Metal. The band love to play for her as they are normally told with other singers to keep it down so not to drown the lead singer, but with Su-Metal they are told to go hard as you like, she will sing over any amount of metal.
I love your reactions JoJo
you have just heard a band like no other. no two songs from them sound alike. they do so many different genres of metal and are good at each one. here Su, the lead singer, was only 16 years old. you mentioned how she has a strong stage presence? you aint seen nothing yet. we as fans dont call Queen Su for no reason. she commands the crowd and they do what she wants. there are two more girls that are part of Babymetal that dance to metal. i know sounds weird but it works. the choreography adds to the show, you said you are a drummer so to show how good this drummer is, i would recommend Amore. the drummer in this song is a machine. also his father and brother i think are both outstanding drummers so it runs in the family. you will not be disappointed in reacting to more Babymetal. enjoy your journey.
Thank you this was a really Interesting read! I am so excited to hear more from Babymetal I can barely contain Myself!
as said before headbanger also awadama fever, doki doki morning, Shanti Shanti Shanti, and well most of the rest lol
no rain no rainbow if you want to hear su and the band at the complete other end of the spectrum

Thank you so much! I am so excited To see more of Babymetal!
Try:
Nightwish - The Phantom of The Opera (Live)

the Kami band is amazing and if you like amazing drumming you should check out Band-Maid. Their drummer Akane is one of the best there is.

Suzuka “stage presence” Nakamoto. I hope you do more BABYMETAL.
There is no chance I can stop here

Dancing in the dark 2 meters above a rotating stage, a 16yr old Suzuka sings of an Unending Nightmare of being chased by a Faceless Terror and begging a Boon that it show her Its Face just once before she dies.
That's Metal.
That's Babymetal!!
Put your Kitsune Up!! Po!
DID YOU JUST SAY 16
@@JoJoLewis 16 years 2 months and 12 days to be precise.
Po!
RONDO is absolutely a masterpiece!!! Great reaction!!! 🔥🔥🤘🦊🤘
Thank you so much! I fully agree!
More EPICA pls. Victims of Contingency from Omega Alive is such a banger, heavier EPICA at it's finest! Great reaction you have like always, but I really can't get into BABYMETAL, I tried countless times but no they still didn't grabbed me.
The only reason I havnt uploaded more Epica is because the videos keep getting blocked!
Most common words when reacting to BABYMETAL: phenomenal, epic, performance, stage presence, crowd control, voice and dance. WTF, dude, and bro do not apply. Know what I'm sayin! LOL
I feel like ill be saying those words A LOT from now on when hearing BABYMETAL
You did not just pause during the second solo you absolute monster
Good reaction! I would highly recommend checking out Headbanger live at Legend 1997 next to see the rest of the band. Su (the lead singer) is amazing, but she's only part of what makes them truly great. :)
6:55 watched T2 recently, have we? ;)
8:26 yes, there's an effect on her voice; also the vocals in that part are actually a pre-recorded backing track (the rest of the vocals are indeed live though)
You mentioned adding this to your playlist; just to warn you, the studio version of this is nowhere near as good as the live. It doesn't have the intro, and Su's vocals are both not as emotional and more processed/compressed. The intro I can live without, but it's the feeling you hear in her live voice that really makes this song for me.
Im glad you enjoyed it! Funny enough i did actually watch T2 a few hours before the video hahahahaha
@@JoJoLewis Ah, I see you are a man of culture too
amazing reaction! thanks!
Thank you!
Goddess SU.....
Next baby metal // bmc
At 8:25. It’s actually not an effect. She’s pushing her nose against the mic to make that sound. I thought the same thing until I listened to the audio from her in ears a few months ago. Crazy 😭
OH GOD DAMN THAT IS WILD
@@JoJoLewis It's actually a bit controversial: a musician reactor tried that and said it works and you can do it without added effects, while another reactor that asked a music technician for help, said that it was definitely an effect added to the voice, so we are not sure :D

great reaction!!! as said down in the comments you need to check out headbanger legend 1997!!
Its on the List! Should get a reaction out for it soon!

Pliss, reac to Megitsune (Babymetal) The breakdown of this song is incredible
Yes, Megitsune was the song that dragged me into the Babymetal rabbithole. Before I knew about kawai metal I called them Happy metal, because they made me happy everytime I heard them.
Yeah i made the same face 1st time i saw that bass solo 😅

In the Japanese metal scene I would recommend:
Vinushka by Dir en Grey (live eng subs)
Shion by MUCC
Kurenai (The Last Live) by X Japan
The Promised Flag by Galneryus
え・い・り・あ・ん (read A · L · I · E · N) by Maximum the Hormone
Oh wow thank you so much!! This really helps!
Thank you so much for the heads up! I really appreciate it! I am actually so excited to see more from BABYMETAL!

I'm a metalhead but i don't realy like Babymetal
Why is that?
@@luka_apic They don't emphasize much on the jpop part these days, in fact their newer songs don't sound like jpop at all....just BABYMETAL.
