Hi Mr Fred! Man,it floored me recently to learn that you had a business in Lafitte, La! I grew up a block off Lafitte Larose Hwy in Marrero. Love the show and definitely miss your wisdom and MacGyver fixes to all the situations that arise! I laughed this yr when Dustin had to call ole dad for some help. Dustin, seems hard headed and a know-it-all and lacks humility at times. God Bless you, Sir!
well Fred this helps out greatly, funny note my wife and my son heard your voice while i was watching this and they too sat down and watched the video from start till finish hahahaha we all love watching you get the gold!!!!
Hi Fred. I’m late for the party but that crummy plastic tool they set you up with made an easy job unnecessarily tough. But loved the way you kept your cool. God bless ya!
😮There is a single nut no washer holding that clamp to the frame. Remove the nut - SIZE METRIC 13 - and the clamp will pop off the fame so you can move the filter around to free it from the lines. Once off the lines pull the filter from the clamp and reverse the process with the new filter. The little nut is easy to get to and is right on the other side of the frame mid-way from the bottom to the top. MarkMannM2
Dakota Fred, thanks for the video. Excellent work and really appreciate you verifying anothers video and making sure it was real. I even liked the problems you ran into with the little tool. That's real. My truck just started sputtering and it's 18 years old so I think the fuel filter will be the first and cheapest thing to change first before going to a fuel pump. Thanks again.
Thank you, sir. Like you, I got myself the filter and had to go back for the tool. Found a nice metallic multi-sized one. Grateful for your video. It's the fifth one I've watched as I'm looking for a little clarity on one point - you nailed it. Your truck looks exactly like the one I have sitting out there. Built right near here in Norfolk, Va.
This helped me. I bought the metal tool and it worked much better. Except for the front side there wasn’t room for the tool. After watching this video I realized that the previous owner used a plastic tool like the gentleman here used, but on my truck they just left it on after changing the filter.😄
Thank you for sharing this information. This will help me a lot. I have a snow plow that is beginning to run rough so will change the filter as my first problem solving plan.
Hey there Dakota...Hello from Virginia , and thank you for taking the time to put on a very informative video! Good hunting to ya, hunting for "Gold" that is!
Hey there mr Dakota Fred. I just seen last night on commercial that y'all coming back to discovery with y'all diving in some serious water current. Glad to see y'all back! And y'all 4sure be careful but have fun an injoy urselves. Good luck finding u sum Gold. An to injoyed ur video. Good job. Y'all have a goodin!
Fuel connections sure aren't fun. Especially filters. After being exposed to the elements, it can be a real pain to get them off. Glad you were able to pull through though!
The metal disconnect tools make the job a lot easier, those plastic things only bend and break, and the metal tool costs about the same and makes it a lot easier
The clips you threw away from the new one are the ones that I'm trying to remove from mine, but are now broken and I've yet to see an how-to- remove video on it
Before inserting the tool...spray wd40 on line and tool....slides in a lot easier.Use a 1/4 wide PC of Emery cloth to clean off corrosion first if needed. No way will that plastic side on that corrosion smoothly.
You do not have to relive fuel prssure at the fuel rails at all, because the fuel pressure is in front of the pressure regulator on you left fuel rail and fuel between that and the fuel tank has no pressure at all. This a a practice in where I see people turn off the fuel pump and run the engine to it runs out of fuel rail fuel and all this nonsense when no pressure exist at all at the fuel filter at all
fred next time get the actual metal tool instead of those plastic variety kit, usually there 2 sided with a size on each end, parts store should know what size you need and there not much more money then that whole plastic kit
idoutdoors I agree after struggling with one of those plastic kits I just went back and bought the metal tool I needed, with that it only took about ten minutes to take the filter outand put the new one in.
idout doors: Parts store need teach their people To know the right size of the pipes an hoses, Just to let the custemer know which to buy, in order to don,t spend unnecesary Money !!!
This just proves you (Dakota Fred) do not know everything. You have to pull the fuel pump fuse and release the pressure before you start taking the filter off,
no you dont haha only if you have been driving the truck and the fuel is pressurized aha if the truck has been sitting over night it de pressurizes ( my brother works at toyota and they have never released that valve unless the truck it hot !

I like how Fred's happy voice makes the job sound fun! 😆 Or, at least not as bad.
thumbs up just for the positive attitude...what a nice guy.

Well explained video because of the plastic tool I found that the metal tool makes it easy. Great job

You have put a little bit of Oil on the Slip Clips of Fuel line for Easy Fuel Filter Change Next Time 😉
realy good
The clips you threw away from the new one are the ones that I'm trying to remove from mine, but are now broken and I've yet to see an how-to- remove video on it
Got the same truck as me

Also put some rust treatment on those brake lines before you loose your bakes on the down side of the hills.
Nunca has cambiado el filtro del combustible en 200.000 millas (+320.000 kms)?? OMG
use left hand to push line to filter and right hand on tool push to line at the same time
trailer park fred , don't the auto part store's out there have the free loaner tools ? some times the two sides are a diff. dia.
there is a metal tool for 6 or 7 bucks. fits a few lines.. like a pair of sissors.. anyways...
Squrt some wd forty on the connections.

...and if you dig deep enough you might find the glory hole. lol
If you heat those clips first they come rigjt off.
Ummmmmm.... I really don't think it's a good idea to put heat on a fuel line do you?
Tri pod
fred next time get the actual metal tool instead of those plastic variety kit, usually there 2 sided with a size on each end, parts store should know what size you need and there not much more money then that whole plastic kit
look up oemtools 25043 and that's the type that works best for me
Tha is good

why do amateurs feel compelled to post a poor quality "how to" that repeats that which they just watched on you-tube done by a pro???
When i change mine im selling my 99 expedtion , nothing but issue after issue . Im going to stay away from ford .
