The CGI in this film has aged like a fine wine. Incredibly impressive, especially given the year of release
It is also unfortunately labelled as the one of the worst things to happen to the VFX industry. The CGI artists on this film were severely stretched and put under pressure. Many artist label this film as the reason VFX artist were pressured so much as a "well POTC did it" mentally.
I'll drink to that.
@@theshontman Be that as it may, it's been nearly 20 years and it still looks fu**ing incredible. All we can hope for is that they were paid proportionately to the work they put in, and then some.
edit: spelling
@@theshontman That sentiment is crazy. Yeah, they did it... which means everyone else COULD do it, they'd just prefer to be lazy and not do it.
@Sekowon Seriously? That's your opinion on how workplaces should be run? If you don't overstretch yourself to the point of exhaustion for no additional remuneration, then you're lazy and making excuses? Well, you sound like an absolutely horrible person.
A "dead man's chest" is pirate speak for a rocky shore that can rip old wooden ships apart. The name comes from the rocky crags looking like a ribcage.
Davey Jones in this universe is a psychopomp (one who ferries the dead to the afterlife, like Charon in Greek mythology). Jones and his crew are cursed to be sea monsters because he abandoned his purpose
Just realized that chest (a box) and chest (a body part) are the same word what
oh that is not the type of chest i was imagining lol
I love the sequence of the triple threat between Jack, Norrington, and Will
A 3 way sword fight what a spectacle and that wheel it’s awesome and the beauty is the script gives all 3 great motives to get the key 😊 it’s also incredibly entertaining to watch
Cutler Beckett is such a good villain ... I like the character.
Greedy British snobs always make great villains
hm, I think Davy Jones is the better villain. But all three movies have good villains for sure
it's only a good business 😬 such a quote
Barbosa and Jack will forever be my favorite duo in any movie. Their dynamics are insane
this is my favorite of the bunch, just the right amount of comedy and danger.
WE NEED part 3!!!
"Does he run better than Tom Cruise, mmm lol " haha love your reactions
While the first two are generally considered the "best", it would be a crime not to see the trilogy finale, At World's End. Nobody will be sad if you stop there.
I will
@@user-op6kt8pg9y I rewatched it last week and was pleasantly surprised, not the best but imo pretty good
On Stranger Tides is a pretty good movie, but deffinitely not as good as the original trilogy. It's still a fun self contained story and Blackbeard is menacing as hell...
Some people really enjoy 4 and 5.
Not me in particular, but there _are_ a lot of people that do.
I genuinely consider 2 and 3 to be the best. The first one was a fun movie, but I like the higher intensity of the latter 2.
The others after were not great. Fine movies, but not for me.
Bro that edit at 5:48 was so good I'm dead 😭😂
Bill Nighy was some great cast for the role of Davy Jones. 👌
Pray you saw the Easter Egg scene at the end of the movie post credits! All the Pirates have an end scene.
i remember being in the cinema watching this, the screams and cheers when Barbossa walked down those stairs were awesome
Well spotted Mary! It is indeed Bill Nighy from Love Actually playing Davey Jones, he also appeared in Shaun of the Dead playing Phillip, Shaun's stepfather, played Slartybartfast in Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, Viktor in the Underworld movies, was the minister for magic Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and played the God Hephestus in Wrath of the titans..
Such a versatile actor, from comedy to tragedy, the man has such an ability to rise into any role..
One of his best was a bit part in Dr Who as a curator at an art museum discussing the work of Van Gogh little realising the Doctor had brought Van Gogh forward to show him what his works meant to the art world..
ruclips.net/video/_jjWtUpqV9w/видео.htmlsi=26_sTJOmK5VSturl
Truly a touching scene which incidentally has Tony Curran playing Van Gogh as both were in Underworld Evolution.. Small world isn't it...?
Its insane how 2006 had better cgi characters than modern MCU shows
Well we will not talk about some DC CGI because we don't need to talk about that.
@@cesariglesias297 oh nooooo
is your only comparison just MCU buddy?
I still remember watching that last scene in theaters, and omfg I hadn't felt that way since The Two Towers. The thrill, the anticipation, the pure awe and amazement, and then finally that feeling at the end of the film where all you can think is "Noooo, don't end the movie there!!!" 😅
I love the edits! Made me laugh a bunch
So couple fun facts if u notice when the monkey is let loose it goes to a pair of boots. Barbossa's corpse. Also theres a deleted scene where you discover that becket hired jack to smuggle slaves to the new world. Jack let them go instead and said "People aren't cargo" Becket branded him with the P u see on the first movie marking him a pirate and sunk the Drowning Wench Jacks ship. Jack made a deal with Jones to bring his ship back for 13 years. Jones left the wood stained black so he wouldnt forget. Thus Drowning Wench become the Black Pearl. Jack released 100 slaves. Jones is cruel. So when he said 100 souls he was telling Jack to enslave the same amount of people that he freed at the beginning.
Thanks for the good vibes Mary, you're the best
I say definitely watch all of them. Some are very much better than others, but in my opinion, they're all entertaining thanks to the actors involved, ESPECIALLY Geoffrey Rush. I was so stoked they brought him back at the end of this one, lol.
We love your reactions. Greetings from Oklahoma USA
Never heard of anyone feeling sorry for the Kraken before 😂
Can't wait for the next one!!
Awesome reaction of my favorite Pirates Of The Caribbean movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
You should always watch the "Pirates of the Carribean" movies to the very end. After the credits there is a short video. In this one you can see, what became of the dog.
Hello! Glad your watching this, and then I can keep watching you again!
What's aweosme is they even hinted at this happening earlier in the movie where Tia Dalma lets Jack (the monkey) out of his cage and he runs off and jumps onto the legs of someone wearing a pair of black boots. Its so good!
Mari is the best!! Good movie choice.. Love some of your facial expressions, especially when you are looking at Davey Jones and his tentacle face.
Hi Mary I enjoyed your reaction to this pirate's second movie !!
When Barbosa showed, the entire theater erupted!
It was awesome!
35:49
I watched it 9 times my eyes still can't catch how Elizabeth double welded swiftly under her arms on that finishing move. So I stopped trying and came to comment my failure.
Also personally I think this is the best one of them all. All good. But this is my fave 💙 🚢
We've seen a couple tin cans into space. And we look through giant glasses into space. How can they make that statement without ever having been there. Lol
At World's End rounds out a solid trilogy.
There's a lot of comments back and forth on here about the "watchability" of On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales, but some people like those two more than they like At World's End.
Definitely, you should watch all five of the movies and judge them for yourself.
The funniest Pirates movie and consequentially my favourite Pirates movie. Love this whole trilogy so much so I hope you do At Worlds End soon.
'At World's End ' is my personal favorite. But the whole trilogy is great. They fall off a bit after that, but are still fun movies.
Wow, I was really impressed that you saw right through Davy Jones' makeup and realized it was Bill Nighy from Love Actually. I didn't realize that back then.
I had my mouth full of food when jack bit into that toe...
Mary, I recommend that you watch the classic movie “Captains Courageous” starring Spencer Tracy, Lionel Barrymore, and the child-actor Freddie Bartholomew. It’s an action-packed coming-of-age movie with an amazing arc of character development taking place during this touching, heartwarming movie…
The first three are the holy trilogy, part 4 is basically a random spinoff and no5 is.. a movie.
The 3rd Pirates movie is pretty good too, I'd recommend watching it. The 4th one is where I don't bother with watching.
what really threw me off was that i thought they just replaced bill nighy's face with cgi. but it's his WHOLE CHARACTER! they did suuuuuuuuuuuch an amazing job with the vfx that you can really tell that it's not all abou the technology - it's about the seniority and expertise of the people harnessing that technology. in terms of that, i think we hit a golden age a while ago and things have been on a steady downward trend since.
Love these movies!! Definitely finish with at worlds end at least!
5:30 if by "travel" you mean sending a human there then no its easier to send a human into the mariana trench than it is sending him to the andromeda galaxy
but if you mean "explore" then yeah i guess we know very little of the ocean compared to space
My advice is to finish the trilogy, and check out the 5th Pirates film, Dead Men Tell No Tales. I'd say the 4th film, On Stranger Tides, is skippable, but I don't think anyone would be upset if you watched that one too. The character of Capt Jack Sparrow is fun to see in any movie.
I'd honestly skip Dead Men Tell no Tales.
It really screws up aspects of the continuity of the franchise
The 5th movie completely ruined the character of captain Jack sparrow. Atleast jack is still amazing in the 4th movie despite the plot being worse than the first 3.
I like when scenes make Mary say nay.
Such fun reactions!
By the way, just out of curiosity, what is your accent? I can't quite place it.
Getting yourself into deep space is extremely difficult. Getting yourself to the bottom of the ocean is quite easy and inexpensive.*
*if surviving isn’t a priority
1:56 & 30:38 & 36:31Rare footage of Ojou-Sama laugh
23:26 Only one way to find out. At World's End is next in line to watch 😉
You'll like the third one too.
Finally a good lenght video
i like all of them mainly cause jacks just a great character and the 4th is the first one i saw, tho the 5th is really questionable but would love to see you react to all 5 but the last 2 arent that amazing anymore
you definitely gotta watch the 3rd one tho
need all 5!
One of my fav lines of the WHOLR SERIES is
"How much do you know of Davey Jones?"
"Not much..."
"...Yeah its gunna save Elizabeth"
😂😂😂
Right!? 😂
@@MovieswithMary Glad you enjoyed this one 😊
From my perspective these movies consist of a MUST WATCH trilogy and then the rest is optional if you are really committed. They certainly hold a special place for me just based on when they came out
The 3rd movie is definitely a must watch, and then they stop being good. The 4th and 5th were nothing but cash grabs
The 3rd movie is the best in the series, you’ll have fun with that one!
The other films don't measure up to the 1st 2, but they're ok to watch.
The new one in production does not include Depp in it's cast (presently) and promises to be a complete bomb w/ the rumored direction they are taking it. So, don't hold out much hope for that one.
Love Johnny Depp, he's amazing 👍
3 is a must watch. Then you can stop lol
I think you should watch the third one.
The first two are better, but you get to see Keith Richards. It's been said that Johnny Deep based his mannerisms among other source, on Keith (Rolling Stones guitar player) and he wanted Keith to appear in certain role on the second movie. Keith's schedule conflicted with filming, so they added him in the third movie. I think it is nice watching him interacting with Johnny Deep.
Although the movie as a whole is not as good as the first two, it still has some cool scenes, one of my favorites is when Barbosa says "Aye, that'd be true!"
I feel like I'm watching San Francisco only the pirates are cleaner and more law abiding.
Hi i have some movie suggestions for you..."Maverick"(mel gibson/jodi foster/james garner)..."TAPS"(timothy hutton/sean penn/tom cruise/george c scott)..."Last Action Hero"(arnold schwarzenneger)..."Space Cowboys"(clint eastwood/tommy lee jones/donald sutherland/james garner)..."Basic"(john travolta/samuel jackson)..."G.I.jane"(demi moore)..have a nice day.
1-3 is one storyline, 4 is eh.. I mean.. I didn't regret watching it.. technically. 5 is not by any means a good movie, worse than 4 even, but.. it does solve a lose end.
Watching 5 on your own time is technically worth it.. not sure I'd put it on the tube.
you can stop at the 3rd film. It's not as good but it completes the trilogy and ties things up. After that the other films take a nose dive in quality
Bill Nighy makes anything he's involved with better.
I only like the first 3 movies. So yeah, I would say the 3rd one is worth it.
Lol the titanic theme song.
Jack is a bad name to have on the high seas, you always end up at the bottom.
If Davey Jones is the Lost Dutchman ... you are related to him ;-)
Its very unlikely a shark will fall on your head compared to a coconut!
Dont forget to watch the aftercredits scenes :)
If you want to stop after the next one will be the logical point. The first three movies are a bit like a trilogy.
Honestly, I'd stop at 3. 4 is okay.
5 is not canon as far as I am concerned
Extra algorithm comment
First 3 are amazing, 4 and 5 are mehh. Definitely watch part 3
The first 2 movies are the best. The 3rd starts to go off the rails a bit and the ones past that are progressively worse for me.
Watch the third
Yes indeed, you need to follow up with long awaited reactions to sequels like:
_-- Rocky_ sequels
_-- Indiana Jones_ sequels
-- reactors follow _Blazing Saddles_ up with _Young Frankenstein_ (both Mel Brooks)
-- reactors follow _RoboCop_ up with _Total Recall_ and _Starship Troopers_ (same director, both sci-fi)
Do _Beverly Hills Cop_ (sequels not great), _Superman I & II,_ and _Batman_ (1989).
Maybe my favorite movie experience ever: I knew POTC screenwriters Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio well at this moment, and was in LA as they took a gaggle of pals for a "personal premiere" of this one at a huge movie theater. I sat next to Ted through this movie and he kept giggling and elbowing me a half-beat before every fun cool whacko scene -- "watch this!". In that final scene as we hear Barbosa's boots clomping down the stairs, I elbowed Ted and said "NOOOooo... NO WAY!" and he's giggling and I'm giggling and the entire theater erupts as Geoffrey Rush re-appears.
Such a ridiculous fun ride of a movie.
The third movie is the last good one
Speaking of not watching sequels, did she watch Firefly but not Serenity?
The editing on this video. 🤌 top notch.
I would recommend watching the next movie, just to finish out the trilogy of Jack, Will and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is conflicted because the compass points at Jack. But it only starts pointing at Jack when he takes the pardons. That's what she wants, not Jack, really.
What she wanted, per Norrington's prompting, was to know who was responsible for Will ending up on the Dutchman, so Jack.
For me 3 is better than 2 its the perfect end to will and Elizabeths story the 4 and 5 are meh at best
Please do matrix reloaded
you can still watch the next one, after that one the quality drops off. maybe the one after that is still okay i guess, but the last Pirates Movie is crap
❤😊❤😊❤😊😊❤🎉
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
“I want to work on watching sequels this year”
Original Planet of the Apes?! Plz? 👀
The four sequels to the original _Planet of the Apes?_

HAPPY EASTER MARY & FAMILY. Let us not forget the reason we celebrate. FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD....❤❤❤
Watch Scarface 😊
Dead man's chest? Was this a guy that didn't make it through transition?😮 The sequels are the best.
What do they call pirates in Belgium?
Piraten :D
@@MovieswithMary😅 now I know Belgian
The first three films are definite bangers and you can't go wrong with them! After the trilogy, not everyone's favorite, so no one would be sad if you stopped after the first three. The few following films can still be fun though.
You don't get to speak for everyone. Plenty of people would be sad. Just not you.
@@ErrorMessageNotFound yes i do 😊😊
Watch just the trilogy. 1-3 are equally amazing.
The rest is way, way, worse
Not garbage, but certainly not worth the upload slot of your channel.
the third move is also great, the 4th and 5th are mostly meh
The first 3 movies are definitly the best. For the other two, if you lower your expectations you probably still can have a fun time watching them but they do decrease in quality quite a lot compared to the "original" triologie.
I think all five movies are very good.
They’re all good! Watch them Mary and make up your own mind.
Just so you know, the reason why Cutler Becket (East Indian Trading Company) hates Jack Sparrow is because the East Indian Trading Company wanted to ship slaves to Cuba and Brazil, and Jack Sparrow took Becket's money, and then set the slaves free.
So, movies 1-3 are “Must Watch”es. Movies 4 and 5 are ok to watch once, but they’re forgettable and nowhere near the original trilogy in terms of quality and fun.
