@SmallWheelWonder ....thanks for keeping an eye on all the possible new models appearing to give greater comfort . ..that's a useful video and much appreciated. You didn't address my comment on the other thread about the search for a rim with a little more internal width ..say 23..25mm to increase volume on any 349 tyre . Seems strange nothing is available ..unless you know otherwise ? I may ask kinetics also . Finally ...have you ever seen an inexpensive replacement brompton fork ( aliexpress etc ? ) that has more room for wider tyres ...might be another easy route . I don't know how long you have played with bromptons but 2 decades ago + a man called Steve Parry from near Bristol in the UK was modding brommies and increased front end comfort by adding a seatpost sus stem up front to give a little travel . He also added V brakes and did mine at the time . Google Steve Parry SP brompton if interested . Regards, Bill in Exeter UK
I will probably end up using a scorcher but agree re fragility and puncture issues which I personally will hope to fix by running split tube tubeless with sealant . That way lower pressures are also no issue as snakebites unlikely .
As mentioned, I had no problem running 2 inch wide Big Apple tires on my Birdy using the original rims that came with 1.35 wide tires installed. There are no cheap but quality fork and triangle upgrades anywhere. Instead of upgrading, you could just get a Birdy or Moulton.
@@SmallWheelWonder I want. Wider 349 rim not because of any fitment issues but because simply increasing that dimension increases the volume of any tyre mounted.
I don't know why many want a wider tire a wider tire will have less rolling resistance and if you need it to be more comfy just get a softer suspension block
