Well done I'm a mechanic and we have a saying every day's a school day. Just can't understand any other approach to running a vehicle, great video and stay safe.
I am not a mechanic or vehicle electrician. Your briefing made eminent sense. Clearly any electrical breakdown at home makes a fuse check the first call after switching off and back on again. A very good video for the un- initiated. Thank you😅. Phil Suffolk, U.IK.🇬🇧
@@GBtrucklady. Eliminating Risk is the main concern where I work ( national logistics company ) so they limit any thinking from the driver 🤣. Can be frustrating but you do get used to it
Excellent job Sherilyn, I've been a truck technical support man most of my life and it's good to see you try rather than "don't know not my job" Well done
😂 It also come from 2 other things, I was taught by my brother who would say, “don’t be useless” 😂😂 and I’m a single Mom and I was an owner driver for many years, “I’m not paying someone to do something I can do myself” 😂😂😂
I always check fuses first as I drive 7,1/2 T vehicles & have done for 45 yr now so obviously no susses for me to mess about with , the way you did it to me is the correct way & makes most sense , have you a great safe weekend & keep on trucking xxxx
As others have commented a spray of WD-40 can help or better still a good electric contact cleaner. A simple test lamp, the type that looks like a pen with an electric wire on the end, is useful when trying to locate wiring faults.
Really interesting video, nice to see another part of what your day involves. I love it when a plan comes together. 😆😆 Thanks again for the video, safe journeys.
Very well presented as usual Sherralin, the version 1 FH had a fuse tester in the fuse box compartment, discontinued with newer models for god knows why and not picked up by others. I do ferry trailers and q often a squirt of WD 40 in the Susie connectors solves the problem with lights. Looking forward to your next vlog.
Good morning sherralin 😊 can’t beat old school working it out on the road it saves a lot of hassle like you said if you can try and sort before you call it in 👍🏻 😍
Ironically I looked up "Suzy Cable" a few weeks ago. Common wisdom is that the name should actually be "Susie", which is an acronym for "SUSpended Integrated Electrical" cable.
Great vlog Sherralin, yes " kiss" ( keep it simple stupid) has gone out of the window in tech and not letting drivers repair even temp until safe area to stop etc. I have got into the habit of carrying spare bulbs in my current vehicle plus other bits and pieces and if a headlight bulb goes I replace both near and offside at the same time because as sure as eggs r eggs the other one will blow very soon. Hope you had a brew after that because you deserved it. Stay safe out there...
One thing to look out for is that the side light fuses on the unit are independent to the trailer side lights. These trailer fuses normally blow when trailer changing. Drivers tend to pull the plug out and drop the plug onto the metal catwalk which shorts the fuse.
Its either a wiring problem or fuse as many have said. Are the plugs on your susie plugged in properly (may have loosened up a little if you've been down some rough roads), just push them in and the same with your fuses. Surprisingly, this has happened to us on occasions. Just try the easiest things first, and work your way through to having to possibly change fuses. (Stupid thing to say, because by this time, you've probably fixed the problem)🤣. But why oh why, does it always affect the most out of reach part to try and fix. I have LED lights in the bathroom at home, one in each corner, and one's gone out, and its got to be the one over the bath at the wall (side and back)/tap/shower end. For me to reach it (I'm 5ft 0"), I would have to get my larger lightweight ladder into the bath itself. So, unlike yourself, I'm not bothering😊. The other three lights still make my bathroom light up🤣🤣. have now got to where you've fixed it. I'm so pleased for you, and I'm actually pleased with myself as well. Over the years of me and my hubby having gone through things ourselves when we've broken down, and had to fix things, and with my hubby now sadly passed away, I've learnt a few things, and I feel like I've fixed your wagon😊
It stands for SUSpended Insulated Electrical. I'm sorry but that is a backronym. No one knows why SUSIE/SUZIE is the name for the curly tubes and wires connecting the services between truck and trailer.
Great diagnosis, many men would just phone company.
It’s always worth a try. 😁
It’s always worth a try. 😁
I would check the suzy first sometimes just unplugging and change the ends round does the trick !!!

Love your video and your basic electrical knowledge.
Thank you 😁
Sorted and on your way. Much better for all . I was at DAF yesterday to have a bulb changed , yep we're not allowed to touch anything.
🤦🏼♀️ Sometimes I wonder if being so tightly managed stops drivers being interested in the vehicle and job?

I used to carry an ohmmeter with me, which allowed me to check wiring to see if current was running or not. Small cheap and effective.
Yes I have one too 😁
Excellent training tips. Loved it. Thx.
Thank you 😁

Fuse pulling in a Scania. Nothing new there then lol.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I was doing a ton, going down the M1 when the limiter fuse did melt. The woman rang and said I'm sorry Tang but you know I've met someone else!

Ive had that before , just a fuse in my case.
Great, simple solution 👍🏻😁
