I honestly love the B2 Super Battle Droid. It's not just the armor and Badass blaster arm, but the mental state they inflict. Their preferred method of fighting is simple, open fire on the enemy, and walk forward. Normally, you'd think they'd get blasted as they went, but their armor is thick, and their number is many. How much autonomy do the b1 battle droids actually have? They seem much more autonomous in clone wars than in phantom menace when they shut down after their control ship blows up.
at the start the corporations used B1 droids to make war without wasting live for work and to get manpower by their economical power. they simply were able to throw some thousand droids on your ass, governed by a space station, that was heavily defended by space droids. These armies were not designed for war, but for simple interventions on planets, like Naboo. The later B1-models were autonym, because they were required to garrison and control planets. (they act more cruel than necessary in the series of clone war for drama reasons) they didnt got brain wipes (all AIs in starWars develop emotions/character/consciousness/errors over time by the complex structures of such an AI), because they were mass produced and in action on the whole galaxy, so noone could wipe their memory all the damn time on all planets. They seem to need some time to adapt to a specific planet or action or situation. they dont follow orders in the first episode, because the commander is a new unit. They trip more often, if they are new units. etc. But in a war, these new recruts were often used like empty machines, who therefore lacked in combat. An older B1 unit would be more like a human and more intelligent in his comfort zone than a fresh B1 from the factory. In later models the hardware of the brain got a autonomy update, the B1 was never designed for this update, creating these funny mimics of B1 units, because his brain was simply to small to work out his own freedoms.
In the Phantom menace, those particular batch of droids were controlled by the Luchrehulk command centre, and as you saw Anakin destroyed the control ship and thus deactivated all the droids similarly to a hive mind. Later versions, much more commonly used by the CIS, used independent processors but still severely lacked the adaptability, independence, cunning or any other attributes that might be associated with a living being such as a clone. So the Brief Answer: No. Simplified version of the paragraph I wrote? Still no, it only has the power to make itself function and carry out tasks, no less.
Well the mega corporations and stuff only really built the army. The movement existed because there were legit concerns that the inhabitants wanted solved.

There is also some information saying that the B3 Battle droid had some resistance to lightsabers as well, though I cannot certify that.
It can resist to lightsaber at some points because it was made partially with cortosis alloy, that's why with its armament it was very expensive and they were just a few prototypes that were built. However I don't know if the canon version is similar as the EU
@@monsieur_gris Thank you for confirming that part :) I wasn't certain about it but that explains it now so thank you. My favourite is probably either the Magnaguard, Droideka or Hailfire Droid. I think you may have missed the smaller version of the Octuparra droid that was on Utapau, though ;)
Why don't you just let it go like me? Yes, Canon is Canon, but the Expanded Universe (now called the Legends Continuity) has been here since 1978 (officially since 1991) and no one will ever erase that, plus there is sooooo much amazing material in it (the new Canon currently makes for less than 1% of all stuff on the Wookieepedia; pretty poor). What I do, and the guys from the Scoundrel's Cantina do it too, is that I take what I find appropriate from both, new Canon and Legends alike, and make a certain kind of mixture in my head. Most of the stuff, of course, comes from the EU/Legends. Like that, for example, Ben Solo is just a fourth child of Han and Leia and the stuff we have seen to happen on TFA takes place in 56 ABY. Yes, I know that this is very geeky ! ! ! ! :-) ;-)
Seriously. I remember the first thing I thought when I first saw droidekas in the prequels was "holy shit why would they not just make their entire army out of these". Pretty much the whole reason I clicked on this video was to maybe find out why they're so limited.
@@Personoide the logical answer to every time you question why this isn't more common is pricetag, why didn't the empire have a fleet of only death stars? To expensive. Why didn't the droid army give all there fighters shield generators? To expensive. Why didn't clones get made in numbers able to match the CIS? To expensive
While it's an incredibly minor difference, the first droids you showed were a combination of B1 Battle Droids and OOM-series Battle Droids. The latter was more advanced and independent.
I think there were two versions of the Octuptarra - a large version, seen on Mygeeto in RotS, and a small version, seen on Utapau in RotS. Also, this is purely pedantic, but can we really say that there are vehicle droids? I'd classify spider droids, crab droids, persuader droids, and all the rest as ultra-heavy infantry, seeing as they're basically as much a vehicle as a B1.
As much as we know in the canon, the 4 variants of the tri-droid (the small Utapau one, the large Christopsis one, the flying Skako Minor one and the rocket-launching Mygeeto one) are all Octuptarra combat tri-droids, just different variants (like the 4 and the 6 legged crab droids). In the Legends they are however there are 2 main variants: the Combat Tri-droid (small one) and the Magna Tri-Droid (large one).
There are two types of tri droid: the octuptarra magna tri droid (seen on Christophsis) and the octuptarra combat tri droid (seen on Utapau). Although there are three variants of the magna tri droid: the regular one (seen on Cristophsis); the flying one (seen on Skako Minor) and the rocket-launching one (seen on Mygeetos).
I'd say crab droids, spider droids, and prusader droids are all vehicles, I'd say there is some wiggle room for the dwarf spider droid, AND crab droids, but there is no argument that homing spider droids aren't a walker, nor crusaders aren't tanks, as they are one of the rhe closest designs in starwars to real tanks
they were very cheap and didnt have a good processor or memory bank. if they didnt have a control ship to communicate and erase non essential data, their processors would overload, causing them to comment on just about everything. (more or less, its more in detail in the wookipedia page)
I think that you missed a variant of the B1. The security droid (red armour). They were also used as bodyguards for droid commanders. Keep up the good work 👍
They got deactivated when order 66 came up (for the most part). And they had some left on Mustafar. So im guessing they got picked up by different Cartels and re-activated. That's just my guess tho
You forgot the OOM from phantom menace they are identical in appearance to the B1 battle droids but they were mainly used for utility and construction and required a mother ship to operate. They were never meant to see combat they were a deterant for war as the separatists did not want to fight.
Very interesting 👍 I have always been a fan of droids from back when I first started watching Star wars back in the 90's. My favourite is R2-d2. I want to know more about the different types of R2 units and what they were programmed to do, along with C3-p0 and the other different types of protocol droids
Uhmmm...the canon ones should be the Lucrehulk-class Battle/Droid Control ship, the Recusant-class Destroyer, the Providence-class Destroyer, the Munificent-class frigate, the Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser (aka Malevolence) and the Tecno Union Ships (Hardcell class in Legends).
The Recusant destroyer could be in this video; it had a Droid brain. It could contain a crew for maintenance and boarding action, but it was automated. That's why, in the beginning of Ep. III with the Battle over Coruscant, you see a Recusant-class colliding with a friendly Munificent-class frigate due to slower A.I. reaction time.
Dwarf spider droids Always freaked me out a bit on how they looked. Just look at 5:08. Imagine seeing that face standing next to your bed when you wake up.
I've a couple of Lego versions of these battle droids in my bookshelf which are from old Lego sets. which are the B1's (battle, security, pilot and commander) B2's, A droideka, a tank droid (from a clone wars set), IG 88 droids, a vulture droid (I lost this one unfortunately), a dwarf spider droid and a hail fire droid (It's disassembled but I will try to find the parts and put it back together some day). I even have that brown droid ship from episode 1 (I forgot the name).

Info on the B-3: It is drawn in a comic, it is around 15 feet tall, the same basic shape of a B2, a laser cannon on each side of it's waist, a flamethrower, almost inpenetrable plating even with lightsabers, a rocket launcher on it's shoulder (Like Iron Man for example)

My favourite is probably either the Magnaguard, Droideka or Hailfire Droid. I think you may have missed the smaller version of the Octuparra droid that was on Utapau, though ;)
Yep, he did and it even has a different name, if I'm not mistaken.
Magnaguards and Droidekas as well for me. Properly deployed, they're respected adversaries against even Jedis.
The Hailfire Droids were my favourites! Why weren't they shown in the Clone Wars TV series? T^T
Same with the amphibious tank droid
lawmen justice -sigh- goddammit, Disney. T^T
Well, they were in the 2003 Clone Wars series.
NCR Vet I guess that's something.
i think season 7 is already out with the name "lost missions"'
I hate that as a Star Wars fan i have to question whether certain lore is canon or not now.
don't hate it, a lot of fans don't know if something's canon or not
dragon rampage Not really, by under consent by George Lucas the EU was written therefore it was canon.
! ! ! :-) ;-)
subraxas It was canon up until two years ago.
TheNamelessYeti
Yep, till the infamous April 2014.
2:22 T series created a droid to fight pewdiepie
Fire 800 AHAHAHAHAHAHA
The RUclips Civil War has now begun.
pewdiepie is a talentless failed abortion who's worshipped by children with 50 IQ
Lol
I wish there was a list showing how much each droid costs.
Seriously.
I remember the first thing I thought when I first saw droidekas in the prequels was "holy shit why would they not just make their entire army out of these".
Pretty much the whole reason I clicked on this video was to maybe find out why they're so limited.
@@Personoide you can buy them from the creatures that make them with rare meats
@@Personoide the logical answer to every time you question why this isn't more common is pricetag, why didn't the empire have a fleet of only death stars? To expensive. Why didn't the droid army give all there fighters shield generators? To expensive. Why didn't clones get made in numbers able to match the CIS? To expensive
new sub. Awesome job man!
Welcome! :)
DO DROIDS IN LEGENDS NEXT PLZ.
You mean every battle droid in the Confederacy of Independent Systems C.I.S?
Anakin Skywalker
yes!
b1 are stupid but they can hit their targets ,stormtroopers are smart but horible at ther targets
Missing Droid Manta subs, and the droid in 5:22 to the left
5:24
also left out the strike bomber.
+Minecraftlover 5575 naw, I'm talking about the ones from SWBFII
wmxproductions you are right, I remember the Manta-Droids. The thing on the left is a smaller version of the Ocuptarra-Droid, stationed on Uthapau.
Minecraftlover 5575 Manta Subs are Canon. They battled on Mon-Cala in the 4. season (i think, i'm not realy sure😅)
While it's an incredibly minor difference, the first droids you showed were a combination of B1 Battle Droids and OOM-series Battle Droids. The latter was more advanced and independent.
long live OOM-9
Yeah, so, OOM-9 wasn't slaved to the CCC, right? Did he (it) die in battle on the plains of Naboo? Looked pretty safe in his AAT to me.
Darth Faker meh brother
1:31 “I am Heavy Weapons Droid and zis is my weapon”.
4:52 star wars battlefront 2, 2005. Brings back the old days.
I think there were two versions of the Octuptarra - a large version, seen on Mygeeto in RotS, and a small version, seen on Utapau in RotS.
Also, this is purely pedantic, but can we really say that there are vehicle droids? I'd classify spider droids, crab droids, persuader droids, and all the rest as ultra-heavy infantry, seeing as they're basically as much a vehicle as a B1.
they were in the Clone wars too. on christophis and skako minor
i like the battle on christophis,
because the large enemy and tactics.
Why are B1 Droids so stupid and funny? Could you explain that?
Because it was better for younger kids, they weren't like that in the prequels
they were very cheap and didnt have a good processor or memory bank. if they didnt have a control ship to communicate and erase non essential data, their processors would overload, causing them to comment on just about everything. (more or less, its more in detail in the wookipedia page)
Donald trump programmed them.
Because of TCW's bs, mostly. They weren't like that in the actual movies.
NCR Vet did you just call TCW bs?
I think that you missed a variant of the B1. The security droid (red armour). They were also used as bodyguards for droid commanders. Keep up the good work 👍
See the top of the LR-57 combat droid? That’s a soda can. And now you can never unsee it.
2:22 T-series DROID???
Oh, then there are two wars... 🙃
THEIR TACTICAL DORIDS
@@dje583 he ment it as a joke becuse the youtuber channel t-series is said to have bots or some shit i didnt really care enogh for that
you should do a video of what happened to the battle droids after Episode III
That's coming soon :)
They got deactivated when order 66 came up (for the most part). And they had some left on Mustafar. So im guessing they got picked up by different Cartels and re-activated.
That's just my guess tho
in the book tarkin it explains how some groups got taken in
.
D-J. E-Z-E. PALPS KILLED THEM ALL.
You forgot the OOM from phantom menace they are identical in appearance to the B1 battle droids but they were mainly used for utility and construction and required a mother ship to operate. They were never meant to see combat they were a deterant for war as the separatists did not want to fight.
When I heard that he spider droid would self-destruct in battle. I was like “wow really, they are so “”useful”” I can’t wait to use them.”
I'm so recommending this channel to everyone who is interested in Star wars lore
If you take jump over to legends, then B3 battle droids are 4m/13ft tall. They have flamethrowers, plasma canons, and a rocket launcher
3:25 it’s a Coke can with arms and legs...
Stolen
I wondered why the separatists didn't just build an army of BX commando droids.
Did you listen to the video ? He said they were too expensive.
money my dear friend. it's always about money and price
they even said in the show that they were too expensive...
Tha'ts what he means! He means his question was answered in the video! Use your brain!
Joe Tudders
his question should of been answered in the show if *he* used *his* brain, my dear friend
get a loan they said it will be fun they said
I love the energy and enthusiasm in your voice
Outlawing the B1 battle droids could only HELP any enemy intending to use droids.
My favorite is the B1 Battle Droid

What about the Rodian Gunnary units? They were on Mustafar in Episode III.
Intergalactic Human Empire Not Rodian but Neimodian and they aren't droidz
I really wanna know what a B3 Battle Droid looks like.
starwars.wikia.com/wiki/B3_ultra_battle_droid
That's how they originally looked like. Quite badass.
+NCR Vet Yeah, I've seen that, but I wonder if they look the same in canon.
+NCR Vet looks like a b2 on steroids :)
Big deadly and one I do not want to meet one probably more effective than a advanced dwarf spider droid
SAME HERE
Very interesting 👍 I have always been a fan of droids from back when I first started watching Star wars back in the 90's. My favourite is R2-d2. I want to know more about the different types of R2 units and what they were programmed to do, along with C3-p0 and the other different types of protocol droids

A video on the Seperatist Warships used in the Clone Wars?
I'd like to see app the Separatist capital ships. That Munificent class is a beautiful thing.
That wasn't a class, the ships name was the meleficent. The class was CIS dreadnaut or something of the sort
+John Grentzinger Um, the munificent-class IS a real thing. starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Munificent-class_star_frigate
No it's not, a Lucrehulk is a beautiful thing, a Munificent is just there to take hits for the *real* Ships.
"One missle was enough to bring down a Republic troop transport."
Sooo....
How many is it going to take for motherf*cking debt collection?! CHRIST!
IT HAS F*CKIN THIRTY OF THEM! JESUS!
It's a AT-TE
My favorite are the commando droids.
After all these years I just realized the red lights on B2 Battle Droids aren't their eyes.
Same
I just realised that every droid and droid vechiles have eyes
It’s because they are all droid. It may be easy to think of them as vehicles because of their non humanoid appearance, but they are still droids.
Great video, I went to college with some of these
I had so many B1 and B2 battle droids in LEGO, as well as a hailfire droid and a dwarf spider droid (which is my favourite droid in all of SW).
I'm not sure if it's legend pretty sure it is. the B2 Grapple droid.
That appeared in the son of dathomir comic, so it's canon again
your right it should be cannon i think because it was in the 3rd star wars game
I like the commando droids and magna guards
5:54 yes dept collection yup just imagin that rollin up to your house HEY WERE HERE TO GATHER DEPT XD giant ass tank rolls up packed with missles XD like just imagin just getting up after a nap oh what a wonderful day to be alive the sun is shining the birds are singing and a tank is about to blow me up if I don’t give them the buck I owe them XD
Please, make 'all imperial droids' too!
Love the channel! :D
Info on the B-3:
It is drawn in a comic, it is around 15 feet tall, the same basic shape of a B2, a laser cannon on each side of it's waist, a flamethrower, almost inpenetrable plating even with lightsabers, a rocket launcher on it's shoulder (Like Iron Man for example)
the hailfire tank droid is my favorite due to that I had a Lego version of them XD
droiedeka
favorite since I was 4
same here its my favorite along with B2, BX, and Magna Guards.
mine too.
its just me
Droid tank, dwarf spider droid, vulture droid, tri-droid, etc.
Mouse droid is still best droid.
blue slimey slime they are from the bad batch unfinished clone wars arc you can look it up on RUclips
I think you might have forgotten the spider looking probe thing that had a bunch of mini spiders in it but idk.
I really like the BX Droid they always seemed so deadly
Wish Hailfire Droids were used more often, very cool design
1:33 Hasbro needs to make a Black Series toys of these guys.
Don't forget the Vibro Swords.
could you do a legend version ?
This is I think because not all of them are.
Cannon
+Nikolai Belinski what do you mean?
+Nikolai Belinski canon not cannon
Yeah canon my bad. Anyways I meant this video is legends I think because some of the droids here I don't think are canon.

Wasn't there another droid the trade federation would use? It looked like a cross between a b1 and a b2 I think it was called a baron droid.
The Baron Droid is Legends
starwars.wikia.com/wiki/E4_baron_droid
After seeing how it looks i hope it stays uncanon lol
agghostman677 Yeah, it's not the most attractive-looking droid. There are a lot of other Sep bots that I would rather be canonized.
+agghostman677 They look pretty stupid but they still worked pretty well.
TheInterweb'sMaster security droids?
