Honestly if Darth Sideous wasn’t sabotaging the separatist movement the CIS could’ve been the greatest army in galactic history. I might be way in over my head but the CIS Droid Army will always be my favorite. Plenty of amazing droids and excellent variation
@nihil2262 not really they made their biological weapons ships and armor to fight 2 droids who evolved to have the powers of gods and their literally armies who in their fight aginst each other wiped out all living beings in their way. Their weapons were made specifically for destroying all droids. That was one of their biggest issues with the republic. When they showed up, they saw what machines did in their galaxy and didn't want a repeat. Also they dont take advantage of biological weakness their weaponry its just so advanced nothing anyone can make will fight it.
The thing is, the goal of the separatists wasn't necessarily to have a great imperial state. Let's say Sidious is out of the equation - Dooku would have tried to reform the Republic, forcefully but fairly to some extent. The droid army would probably be used as a threat, an occupation force, but also a task force in case of catastrophes or to assist the Jedi. Let's remember that one of the core reasons behind the very start of the Separatist movement if the refusal of the Republic to police the confine of the Republic, where pirates, slavers and smugglers had free reign. So contrarily to the Empire, the Republic under Dooku would likely concentrate its forces in its borders, to fight against real threats, instead of using it as a police force. For most people, life would be the same. Dooku would be strict to the point of cruelty and the repression would be cold-blooded, but he would also be fair and ready to use diplomacy.
@@matthewchristian9591 I don't know about that. Per some old EU material a unit of B2s got reactivated during the Vong War and handily repelled an invasion of the world they were assigned to.
Best army in the Sw universe by a wide margin. Has ridiculous numbers which it didn't even need to rely on and probably the best tanks, starfighters, capital ships and infantry of all the factions. The AAT is just fantastic, and nothing beats the agile droid fighters supported by organic Separatist aces and the good old fashioned Providence destroyers with Gozantis and other anti-fighter ships, and the B3 battledroid is awesome.
I love the separatists, the idea every tank, troop, and fighter is a somewhat sentient being capable of emotion is insane. Like take a look at the octoputarra for example, what are they thinking about? What is going on inside there head? Do those “monstrous units” communicate. It’s like the tyranids, where massive vehicles and tanks are living organisms, but these are machines, it’s amazing, and there designs are so cool
wasn't it in the Clone Commando game that the commando's actually found out the droid army out numbered the clones something stupid like 10'000 to 1? and they figured there was some kind of plot going on behind the scenes since Doku wasn't just sending millions of droids to straight up wipe out any clone base
the droids were the primary force of the separatists, as many separatists planets were not individually represented in the senate. The clones were a supplementary force to republic PDFs, and mostly served as space marines for planetary invasions. So even if the droids outnumber the clones like that, the CIS still has to transport, power, and set up all those droids, which is balanced by the PDFs already existing
@@zfoxcrafter the cis was my preferred army, but it still has to be able to deploy troops. the clones are so much better pound-for-pound that they save immensely on ship fuel. the droids partially make up for this by not needing medicine or food, but they also have intense energy demands which slows the rate of their deployment and their potential speed of expansion. it is highly unlikely that they had anywhere close to a billion active battle droids of all types, and it wouldn't be necessary either. the war, if it wasn't a proxt, would have been won on control of shipping lanes
As a kid, watching a whole platoon of B1s come out of their transport in TPM was so cool. It's a bit weird that they have tanks crewed by robots instead of robot tanks but apart from that, the theme of a robot army and how it could work was done so well.
Probably to allow the vehicles to be manned by non-droids, like Durge or that one Kim Jong Un guy from the 2008 Clone Wars. Also it's probably easier to make a regular vehicle than to make and program a vehicle-sized droid...

From a lore perspective, alot of these droids that only showed up on one or two missions in total were probably prototypes being given a real world trial. No doubt the Techno Union probably produced a ton more prototypes that never even made it to the real world trial phase. I'd like to think somewhere in the Star Wars universe, there's a Techno Union factory/warehouse where all of these are stored, in case future developments of droids ever require those concepts to be revisited.

He did. Dooku (the "top" of the seps) was commanded by Palpatine who (as chancellor with emergency powers) controlled a lot within the Republic. I'm not sure if it is stated directly anywhere in a movie or TV show but the story is that Palpatine saw everything coming and took advantage of his foresight. Having chips put in the clones, getting Dooku into the Separatist, and getting into Anakins mind.
My favourite faction in Star Wars, they're highly underrated but it is clear that they would have won the Cone Wars if the Jedis wasn't a part of the Republic Army.
you missed a few droideka variants: droideka oppressors and droideka sentinals were both produced too late for service in the clone war (in the same way as the droideka mark 2 or the hk 77) but were still droideka designs that the cis would have undoubtedly used.
Watching all the shows the Jedi never really struggled with battle droids, they make quick work of them. they really start to become scary when clones are facing them. The only few droids that I notice Jedi struggle with are magnaguards and commandos. Destroyer droids can be overwhelmed or outsmarted quite easily.

The droids are not sentient beings so there are no casualties. They don`t feel hunger or tiredness or cold or need air etc. They should also theoretically be better shots. Their brain is basically a computer that can just auto aim and fire. You can`t really beat them in hand to hand combat either. It would be like a human having a wrestling contest with a terminator. The only thing clones have on their side is imagination and the ability to think on your feet (not exactly military valued qualities) and we don`t really see them using that. Instead they go out in Napoleon era like battles to shoot each other.
