roderickuw Tell jabba i have his money! oh and also *BLAAAST!* i shot first suckers! Greedos friends at the cantina spread that rumor around to get revenge on me!
Im a YT-2000 fan myself. If I was in Star Wars and had to choose a personal ship, I would want a YT-2000. I don't know why, but i think its because of the central cockpit. I never liked how the Falcon had the cockpit in the side, it's such a design flaw. But I liked the rest of the ship, inside and out, so the YT-2000 is a perfect model for me.
Some semi-canon sources cite the reason for the off-center cockpit being that the ship was designed to push cargo canisters using it's forward "fork-shaped" section and the cockpit is where it is so the pilot can still see ahead while docked with the canister. But yeah I agree with you, the YT-2000 is also my favorite YT Series. :D
My personal ship would be a CR-90. Big enough to live on but small enough to pilot with one person. Fast and capable of carrying a lot of passengers and cargo.
Basically the gravity on the "top" gun turret is the same as the rest of the ship so when Han is sitting up there he is pulled back into his seat, whereas on the "bottom" gun the gravity is inverted so that Luke doesn't fall out of his seat into the viewport. This way they can look back at each other down the ladder shaft and it seems like they are on a flat plane.
I wouldn't expect so. I doubt that we'll ever see Han in Rebels, especially with this new prelude film coming out. Though if I had to guess i'd say the YT-2400 might well belong to Hondo, since he set off in search of a ship at the start of the season. Or it could be a totally new character. Be cool if it joined the Phoenix Fleet tho, I really like that design. :D
Actually, if you watch the scenes, both of them have gravity 'down' into the seats of the chairs. (obviously because they were filmed sitting up). The deck plans I had long ago had that chair plane of down, confusingly enough, perpendicular to the angle of outrigger for the cockpit, which means to the gunners down was an angle over the cockpit access side corridor The top gunner climbs up the ladder then pulls himself up as gravity transitions, the ladder side is now down, the bottom gunner climbs down then steps backward and down into the gun bubble and stands up, the ladder side is again down. The accessway to the ladder is opposite of the cockpit access corridor. They turn into the accessway, and Leia comes stage front past the camera as she heads to the cockpit.
My personal favorite is the YV-929. Stocky, heavily armed and armoured, and plenty of cargo space. Perfect for bounty hunters, mercenaries, pirates, or all of the above.
I remembered that there was a SW game I loved as a kid but the only thing i could remember about the game was that there is an YT ship in it. So I came to this Video, thank you :))
I've heard that the lack of real cargo capacity in the YT series was explained by the mandibles on the front of the Falcon. The ship is more a tug for cargo containers than actual cargo ship. is this canon or just a reasonable guess on somebody's part?
This was the perfect video to decide on what YT-series ship to use in my story! I've been trying to figure that out for a while. I could've used another kind of ship, but I just love Corellian YT-series ones.
Star Wars Explained Yup! And the YT-2000's design is completely unchanged FYI. Other than the YT-1300, which YT is your favorite? Said other than 1300 since "everyone" loves it. :P
TheMemph10 They never actually said what kind of ship model it is. I really wanna know, including what ship model the Kasmiri is, along with its stats.

I like the YT-1930 the best. It looks very light, slick very manueverable and the cockpit is actually in the center. Although, it may be hard to see out of with the classic forklift fin arms up front. I think if I were to modify it I'd give it a class 0.5 hyperdrive
Can't forget the ship that inspired the YT-1000, now can we? Let's hear it for the XS Stock Light Freighter that was used by the famous smuggler Nico Okarr during the Great Galactic War.
Well, the YT-1300 also had two other versions stock, one with the cockpit on the left and one with it in the center. The books with the blueprints for the Falcon even say this... And even have deck layouts for the other 2 aswell.
Josh Kimmel yeaah, that thing has had almost as much action as the Falcon! From Davik, to Revan, to the Exile, man that ship was great (though the Falcon is still better)
I used to have this crazy thought that they were the same ship. That the Ebon Hawk was kept flying, but that meant replacing parts over time, untill over the course of 4000 years, the Hawk just evolved into the Falcon
Short, but OH SO Sweet! Enjoyed watching this and had it on a loop as i dived into Wookiepedia, doing research before making write-ups of the fanon YT-800S Mini-Falcon!
The YT-1000 was also known to have electrical issues due to unshielded systems. This was not a common problem in the star wars universe as ships were generally hardened against electrical interference due to the possibility of encountering a disturbance in space. These issues are brought to light in the Legends book The Joiner King. The particular ship in question operated under the Galactic Alliance registry XR-808G, piloted by a Sullustan named Jae Juun.
My Force and Destiny character is saving up for a YT-1250 at the moment :-) Cheap and easy to get spares for, less flashy than the 1300, nobody's going to notice the Ford Transit of Star Wars.
Can you do a video explaining the different types of laser cannons and the differences between, say, turbo lasers and laser cannons, that sorta thing. What makes it heavy, medium, or light, etc?
the falcon is supposed to be way older than that. Lando had it for 5 years and Han is supposed to have had it for his entire carrier as a smuggler. In the conversation in the docking bay it 's clear that he has been working for the huts for years.
There are also another YT-1300s besides Millennium Falcon are Corellia Star from Star Wars Rebel Assault II, and another one is Lydia Winters' YT-1300 with blue markings called Library Two.
@@Panzer-535 The special where do the Kessel spice run is amazing. They go in 3 machines bought for under 200 credits... Hammond in Bespin cloud Car with some acetate duct taped on for a canopy, May in semi-restored y wing with with a "malfunctioning" turret taking random ion pot shots at the other hosts, and Clarkson in A wing that can only turn right... in fact it keeps having a slow drift to the right so he has to make frequent loops... until he finds the the hand brake and tries to perform the Poe manuver (only to crash into the ships. every. single. time).
The YT-2000 was in the Lucas Arts game Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance and was called Otana. Personally I much preferred piloting the YT-2000 over the YT-1300 variants and even the modified Millennium Fulcan in the Battle of Endor mission.
Putting the cockpit in the center pretty much junks the theory that the notch in the bow of the ship was for pushing large cargo as it would obviously crush the cockpit or make seeing where you were going impossible.
LOOK AT 0:43has anyone notinced that the cockpit corridor mean size wou.ld make the interior rooms hands and knees space omnly with no under deck if those hatches are say 7 ft diameter then the interior is significantly smaller
The _Outrider_ is my favorite ship design in all Star Wars, with _Slave I_ at second place. To be clear, I very much _dislike_ the YT-2400 design used in Rebels and any version that features the full saucer-like hull - I prefer the design used for the model in the X-Wing miniatures game, which is shown at 1:13.
3:21 The YT-1930 looks like a Sith Warship to me. With those Harrower-class-styled front prongs like in The Old Republic (Later in The Gladiator-class Star Destroyer in Palpatine's Empire as well). Heck, the whole thing just looks so Sith-Like. I wonder if it was marketed to Darth Krayt's Sith Empire, or Darth Caedus at some point? Edit: 3:21-3:25 The pinnacle, huh? Sounds like CEC were a bunch of Sith sympathizers, or really liked their designs. Luke, and Han Solo might've had quite an issue with them, then.
They might not be either Canon or Legend, but my favourite YT is the YT-600 series. Leading up to the YT-100 (same design team), it had a front "notch" with a central cockpit, the characteristic saucer shape, SoroSuub BOAV (space 4) engines. At just 20 meters and 80 tons of cargo space, it's tiny, but well appointed. And cheap. REAL cheap! The YT-630 "Shuttle" has a class 1 hyperdrive, a larger power core, and comes with a shield installed. The YT-650 (my true love) pioneered an elevated cockpit, providing a view over the cargo wings, the BOAV "X-9" ion drive (Space 5), and racing stripes!
What about the blockade runner mentioned in the Jedi Academy books? There was no model designation given but it was described as a "blockier predecessor to the YT1300".
I hope that JJ Abrams and Disney watches every single one of your videos and all the other videos and such and give much issuance and delivery to us the fans the way that we want it to be.
I always thought when I was young and would read these references to YT variants, that someone at Lucas had designed them and would imagine all these crazy designs... ah... those were the days.
The West End Games Star Wars RPG was very good. It had wonderful world building for Star Wars. It was used as the foundation for all fiction written until Disney bought the IP and wiped it ass with the work done in the EU novels, RPGs, and video games. There are two YT-1300 variants not mentioned. Both modified ships from Galaxy Guide 6 Tramp Freighter. The Oo-Ta Goo-Ta Similar to the YT-1930 with out the extra rear cargo attachments, and three engines in the rear. Also the Solar Flare, a YT- 1300 that has a cargo bay extending between the front mandibles
With how formidable the Falcon turned out to be, I always wondered why the New Rebublic or any other faction didn't try to make a squadron of gunships from modified YT-series freighters.
Fun fact: the YT: 1300's name comes from geometry... the shape of the top can make a Y and a T... if you rotate the ship clockwise from the Y by 1300' you come to stop at the T position (remember, that's 360,360,360 for 3 full rotations, and then 220' for the final partial rotation) the inspiration behind the millenium falcon's design was a sandwitch, which Lucas used to fight Spielberg's armada of Pizza slices... (it was at this same dinner party where the directors agreed to let Spielberg use Yoda in E.T. while E.T. was promised to be available to Lucas, and makes an appearance in the films as a race called Greblieps (Spielberg spelled backwards)
Check out the first 6 post Battle of Yavin comics issued by Marvel. There's a character named Jax who is a 6 foot tall Carnivorous rabbit who owns a vessel called the "Rabbit's Foot", which in the illustrations looks very much like those center cockpit YT models you mentioned. Of course, because it was 1978, and all the details of the Star Wars universe hadn't been fleshed out, no classification is given.
Well, the YT-1760 was considered legends, but it soon appeared in the canon Star Wars adventures: Tales from Vader’s castle comic book: Issue 1! Hopefully we’ll see an updated YT Series freighters in the future. Also, the YT 2000 is also canon thanks to comics. I don’t know which book it was in, but it was flown by Han’s ex girl, I think.
The problem is that the YT-1300 pushing cargo around with it's mandibles suggests standardized cargo containers but none of the other models appear to support such containers. That and the concussion missiles of the YT-1300 would hit the cargo container if ever fired.
I would like to have heard an explanation of how each ship was used as a freighter. The YT-1300 had an offset cockpit to allow it to push massive cargo containers between its two forward "appendages" with the radar dish on the other side to allow the crew to "see" on the other side. All the freighters talked about are way too small to carry enough cargo internally to make them practical. Unless they were used just on a planet and only for one or two businesses. The cost of transporting goods from one system to another for only a few businesses would not be economically feasible using a small ship. It would make more sense to use massive containers for hundreds of businesses on a planet since in space weight isn't as much of an issue and the transportation costs can be shared.
It would be a pretty long video but maybe for a landmark celebration video or something, you could do every sith or Jedi. Just an idea though I know that would take forever to pull off. Love your videos 👍
As of this date, the YT-2400 has not shown up in Star Wars Rebels yet. That being said, it is confirmed to show up and has been seen in the season three trailer (where dash got the image from)
I think you missed the YT series ships listed in the fantasy flight games rpg series books. Star War : Edge of the Empire; Age of Rebellion; Force and Destiny. An the associated source books and modular adventures under the afore mentioned titles.
If any I'd take a YT-2000 (central cockpit, never understood why a side-cockpit was a good idea!) and dump most of the stock hardware :) (improvements need to be made after all :D )
comprehensive list of every rise of the empire imperial uniform armor from 19bby the 1st stormtroopers to current sw dates that would be cool, both canon and legends
what about the ship you get during the smuggler campaign in star wars the old republic mmo rpg? it resembles some of the millinum phalcon however its cockpit is at the front of the ship and not the side.
Isn't The Ghost some kind of YT model? If not, it definitely looks Corellian
The Ghost is Corellian and it's from CEC but it's not YT Series, it's VCX Series. :)

Also the Solar Flare, a YT- 1300 that has a cargo bay extending between the front mandibles
RUclips freighters, why does that come up in my head..
I'm involved in a star wars edge of the Empire game, and crew and I fly around in a yt 2000 named the cobalt star
I may be wrong, but I believe the troop transports in Star Wars: Commander are YT series, though it doesn't specify their names.
With how formidable the Falcon turned out to be, I always wondered why the New Rebublic or any other faction didn't try to make a squadron of gunships from modified YT-series freighters.
Fun fact: the YT: 1300's name comes from geometry... the shape of the top can make a Y and a T... if you rotate the ship clockwise from the Y by 1300' you come to stop at the T position (remember, that's 360,360,360 for 3 full rotations, and then 220' for the final partial rotation)
the inspiration behind the millenium falcon's design was a sandwitch, which Lucas used to fight Spielberg's armada of Pizza slices... (it was at this same dinner party where the directors agreed to let Spielberg use Yoda in E.T. while E.T. was promised to be available to Lucas, and makes an appearance in the films as a race called Greblieps (Spielberg spelled backwards)
If you look in the Star Wars Wizards of the Coast Starships of the Galaxy roleplaying guide, you'll find 2 or 3 more YT series ships.
I’d definitely go for a YT-1930. Good defenses, optimized cargo space, and most importantly to me, a centralized cockpit.
So, what kind of freighter is the Ghost?? if it is not Corellian...
It is Corellian, but a VCX-100, not in the YT-series.
Star Wars Explained ok thank u master. Keep on the good work! Cheers
Do a video on that ship (and others like it)
Every known Background Character...one video for each episode
Sweet Christmas...
Good Lord
+Star Wars Explained, you'd better get to work! ;)
Love the Azzameens and the Otana. Anytime I was playing with the YT-2000 I was having a great time
I like the YT series. I am making a ship in my 3D software. I have inspired by the Millennium Falcon of course. I think it's looking pretty cool.
Finally they make a video on these ships
There is a lot of potential for cool ships in such a old and large galaxy far far away.
Do a list on the Battlecruiser Class and or the Corellian Classes of ships.
I don’t know which book it was in, but it was flown by Han’s ex girl, I think.
the YT-2550 heavily resembles the shuttles used during the escape of the destroyed Autobot City, during the events of _The Transformers: The Movie_
I like the yt-1930 it just looks really. Aggressive and remind me of the sith interceptor
The problem is that the YT-1300 pushing cargo around with it's mandibles suggests standardized cargo containers but none of the other models appear to support such containers. That and the concussion missiles of the YT-1300 would hit the cargo container if ever fired.
You have this, and Spacedock has the Z-95 Headhunter. It's a good day to like spaceships
I would take the YT-1930
Same here.
Me too, i love the shape
The YT-1760 is my favourite.
Do an every planet ever (cannon)
I always thought that Dengar's ship "Punishing-1" was a YT
you could do a list video for every light and dark side force power
I didn’t know RUclips made freighters
I've always had a soft spot for the 1200-series. Not my favorite freighter design in Star Wars but a good one.
That moment when you realize there are YS, YX, and other Y-letter series.
It would be a pretty long video but maybe for a landmark celebration video or something, you could do every sith or Jedi. Just an idea though I know that would take forever to pull off. Love your videos 👍
You missed one out. In the book “Star Wars, The Clone Wars: Duel at Shattered Rock” it mentions a YT-1800
My personal favorite is the 1930, but you better have a good plan to keep the cargo bays full or you're in trouble. She can carry 200 tons.
I really like the lines of the YT-1930.
4:00 Uhh...... Convince EC Henry to make models of them?
Outrider and Sato's Hammer (YT-2400). *_"Are we just chopped liver to you?!!!"_*
In which Episode of Star Wars rebells did the YT-2400 Show up
As of this date, the YT-2400 has not shown up in Star Wars Rebels yet. That being said, it is confirmed to show up and has been seen in the season three trailer (where dash got the image from)
PeytonYoung thank you
Joshikun Isn't the Ghost a YT model?
Necrometalfist The Ghost was a modified VCX-100 light freighter
Yeah, I wasn't sure. They have a very similar basic design.
YT 2000 was a pretty decent ship in X-Wing alliance.
YT-1930's look awesome!
I think you missed the YT series ships listed in the fantasy flight games rpg series books. Star War : Edge of the Empire; Age of Rebellion; Force and Destiny. An the associated source books and modular adventures under the afore mentioned titles.
the YT-1760 looks like serenity from the side (firefly class transport)
Some of the YT-series freighters was in canon
If any I'd take a YT-2000 (central cockpit, never understood why a side-cockpit was a good idea!) and dump most of the stock hardware :) (improvements need to be made after all :D )
Just to point out here, the YT-2400 has an appearance in the Star Wars Kinect game for the Xbox 360.
comprehensive list of every rise of the empire imperial uniform armor from 19bby the 1st stormtroopers to current sw dates
that would be cool, both canon and legends
what about the ship you get during the smuggler campaign in star wars the old republic mmo rpg? it resembles some of the millinum phalcon however its cockpit is at the front of the ship and not the side.
