  • @Asko83

The way I see it, the main difference between Corellian and Mon Cal ships is this: If you are buying a brand new ship, the Mon Cal will make whatever ship you want and do it custom built just for you. ...But trying to find a used Mon Cal ship that suits your purposes is a game of chance since the ships are all unique and rebuilding one to fit your needs is so difficult it is not worth the trouble if you couldn't find a suitable one. Corellians meanwhile make decent standard ships with very little variation BUT the aftermarket parts are available everywhere and the ships are so modular that you can buy any cheap used Corellian ship and mod it until it is perfect for you. So if you have the cash to get Mon Cal to make a new ship for you, it is better (especially for you) than a brand new Corellian ship, but if you are poor you should just buy a used Corellian ship and mod it slowly to be the dream ship that you want.

Gotta wonder if Corellia played hardball with the Empire and the Republic. Like, they'd build the ships better, faster, stronger than competitor worlds... but you do NOT attack Corellia.
Like, not only would Corellian defenders know every weak spot of every ship design built there, but maybe they had their own fleet strictly for the defense of the world, so if either side tried to take them by force, they'd make a very deadly surprise when Corellian Dreadnoughts drop in to ask "so what you think you're doing here?"
Play both sides while protecting yourself or something like that. And because they were so damned good at what they do.... they get a free pass no matter who's in charge. Lol

I finally managed to save up enough credits for a used G9 Rigger. Despite being an older ship--and one that had clearly seen some serious action under her previous owners--she still flies like a dream. Corellian engineering really is amazing; I'm convinced that even the most dilapidated pile of junk, if it had CEC's name on it, would be just an afternoon of tinkering away from shrieking through the sky like a brand new Incom. My means are limited, so the prospect of buying a ship was daunting. Knowing CEC's reputation definately eased my fears about buying used; I felt I could be confident that a Correlian-made ship--even one with so many parsecs on it--wasn't going to just fall apart on me. All these months later, I am still continually impressed by how well the old bird has held up. My Rigger's nothing flashy, but she's sturdy and dependable, and I am totally in love with her! CEC all the way!

They've got tons of games like that, just not with the Star Wars name on it. They probably never will make a Star Wars game like that, though. The people running Lucas now only care about failing to appeal to the mass market. Space Trucker games, as fun as they are to those that love them, are a niche market. You would have simplify the game to the point where it stops being fun, then finish making it a terrible title by filling it with modern political messaging. By the time they dumbed down the logistics and economics systems to be understandable by the average normie, the game would play itself, therefore forcing you to pay attention to the terrible writing they'd fill it with. As I've said before, like to one person in this comment section, if I lived in the Star Wars Universe and could afford to have one capital ship, it would be a heavily modified Venator, with a c-70 charger escort that was hybrid with other smaller vessels, as long as both were looked over and improved via both Corellia and Mon Cal.

Modern yes, but only in pickett ships and freighters. Even when in Legends they had capital ships like destroyers and battlecruisers. But if I want a capital ship I'd go Kuat or Mon Calamari. I'd even go Rendeli for capital ships even when their heyday was during the Kotor/Tor Era of the timeline. But CEC is definitely my choice for corvette/pickett ships, they really are a Giga Chad company, not the only one but but Chad nonetheless. But in terms of building ships yes I'd choose Corellia fir building ships, just not their designs for ships for flagships/ capital ships.

You’d think corellian engineering would’ve heard about how some guy modified one of their basic ships and turned it into the fastest ship in the galaxy. And that they would start producing ships based on these customizations. Imagine a yt-1300 with all the passenger, living, and cargo space gutted, shrunk down to only hold a crew of 4-5. Same armor plating or better, same sensors or better, even more firepower, and the hot rodded engines. Basically an attack gunship version of the falcon that’s a fraction of the size and weight, with the same engines and defenses. Literally the best possible ship.

@@princeofpokemon2934 exactly. Plus in the books Ender isn’t even the smartest or the best tactician in his class. He did come second but even in HIS story he’s not the smartest in the room lol. Ender was just the one chosen to establish the future of the Formic queen which is why his story matters. He didn’t even come up with a solution to beat the Formics. It was a team effort and he had to be tricked to do so as he didn’t want to kill them anyway.
Even if the question removes Ender’s pacifist persona he still loses and again it’s not even close. Sure he was the first to understand the formics which is how Ender and his crew defeated them but Thrawn quite literally immerses himself in the enemies culture, religion, history etc.

Thrawn has a considerably higher level of experience, so I'd favor him in a symmetrical fight. In a fight where they're both using their universe's tech, It would come down to how effective ray shields are against the Little Doctor. If the Little Doctor can bypass or wear down shields, Ender would win an asymmetrical fight handily.

For as big as Corellia was, I have always had this idea in my head that Kuat was larger.
Like, Corellia might have had a wider market, considering it's civilian vessels were famous across the galaxy, though still making military vessels, and still large enough to manufacture dreadnoughts even, Corellia I feel like is more so a long lasting giant in a bunch of different fields of Starship construction.
Meanwhile Kuat is more specialized towards military vehicles, especially large military vehicles. I believe the orbital ring at Kuat is a larger manufacturing facility than anything Corellia has access to, but Corellia is a bit more spread out with multiple slightly smaller manufacturing stations.
Corellia is also older than Kuat, stating that they claim to be the longest-operating business entity in galactic history. Kuat has still been around for at LEAST 5000 years from what I can gather, and though they started of small, they quickly grew into a giant and eventually, after surpassing and buying up Core Galaxy Systems, Kuat likely became THE largest manufacturing franchise in the galaxy at that time. Kuat was predatory after all.

I like Star Wars because of its focus on small ships. Most people in the comments talking about huge ships with crew complements in the thousands while here I am preferring small ships with small crews - preferably a crew of one. My favorites are the KSE Firespray-31, CEC YT-2400, S&K B-Wing, and the biggest ship I'd ever want to serve aboard - the KDY VT-49 Decimator.

What puzzles me often about these gigantic ships in Star Wars is their exact purpose, specifically why are they having such gigantic crews, which in turn makes the vessels so large with hundreds of decks with cabins and prsumably offices and workshops? I guess part of it is basically overhead, the crew of a large ship is needed because the ship is large and thus needs a lot of people to do maintenance - and then we have crews of fighter pilots and mechanics to do maintenance on the fighters and attack vessels plus soldiers - but it still seems rather odd to make this into such large vessels instead of more manageable sizes - especially considering the loss of personnel if one of those big ones gets shot down

As much as I like Corellia, Kaut and Rothana Shipyards far outclasses the scale and speed of Corellian manufacturing. Quality and Quantity may also be Kuat's award too, as it had many subsidiary corperations and sections dedicated to different classes and types of ships; ranging from Star Destroyers to Civilian Air Speeders. Security too was extremely tight, as it was bound with the Kuat Culture (which is extremely complex and hard to even get into). All and all, while Corellia is great at a lot of things, I feel Kuat might have them on this one...

They made the Lego version of ships. Oh you don’t like the layout of your ship that easy we have an upgrade for that. Oh you want to upgrade the shields, armor plating, the engines, the hyperdrive and you want to add more weapons….. guess what we got you everything is upgradable. My favorite ship is the c70 charger refit of the consular class cruiser. I would upgrade the shielding and the hyperdrive and I would swap the rear twin turbo laser for a quad heavy laser turret, then I would add 4 more quad heavy laser turrets beside the 4 twin turbo laser turrets in a way that allows them to fire in any direction without hitting each other or blocking there field of fire. I’d keep the heavy ion cannon on the front. I would have a room with a carbonite freezer and a rack for holding bounties. I would also have as many BX commando droids as possible along with a 6-12 IG-100 magna guards. Lastly I would have sensor jamming equipment and I’d paint all black and name it the RIM RUNNER

  • @aaronbosen6743
    @aaronbosen6743 2 года назад

Not mentioned: the CR90 was specifically designed by Corellian engineering corporation for a rather unique problem: pirates turning their previously existing mid, large and bulk freighter designs into corvette and frigate size warships. So, CEC literally developed an actual warship cheap and modular enough for large shipping companies, better off independent traders, planetary defense forces planetary ambassadors ect to use specifically as an anchor ship in convoy defense operations against converted freighters turned into pirate carrier craft, frigates ect.
It's not to obvious at first for example, but the *stock* CR90 is actually a very heavily armed, armored and shielded ship for it's size and crew complement. That's also fast, has fairly good sensors and has excellent gun coverage that's also specifically designed to work with a relatively small crew complement. The original, legends canon CC90 corvettes shipped with 6 dual turbolaser turrets and four front mounted fixed single turbolasers and one rear mounted couble turbolaser fixed mount. On top of that, it also sold stock with up to 12 turreted quad laser cannon mounts, with a powerplant that could support up to 24 quad laser cannons on top of the pre-existing shields, turbolaser batteries, hyperrdrives ect. The ship could also mount up to four corvette or frigate sized concussion missile or proton torpedo launch systems *alongside* the fron mouunted fixed turbolasers.
The ship's shields were particularly quick to recharge as well, giving it excellent staying power in combat with peer level or sometimes superior vessels and many of it's components were already in use in other correllian engineering systems designs. Even it's life support systems were much more powerful then needed. If it had a deficit it was that it had a somewhat weak tractor beam system, and that it was cramped enough customers often removed weapons systems, interrnal systems, ect to increase crew comfort and cargo capacity.
That said, easy modification was a rule of corellian engineering corporation ships, and the CR90 was not an exception. Some variants existed asp ocket carriers, dedicated missile corvettes, troop transports, dedicated anti starfighter defense, and more.
But yeah. This was a corvette that in groups of five or more could compete on even or even slightly betterr terms against one star destroyer. Despite being a third the size of a Nebulon b frigate.
