I turn a bolt into a sharp folding knife，
This video recorded the whole process. I didn't find the right wood, so I used two wooden boards to glue them together. The result was satisfactory. The prototype of this knife is the French folding knife with wooden handle. Since I did not make a locking structure, the nails at the joints of the handle are tightly fixed. This is a light and small knife,

I've always knew the locking mechanism was over rated.
Or you could just buy an Opinel and have a knife that will lock open. Also, you didn't temper it so now it's harder than a file... but more brittle too. When you drop it after it closes on your fingers it will shatter like glass. Pretty though!

Two quick questions - if you don't mind. First of all, why don't more blacksmiths use a jig/holder when grinding in the bevels like you do? (Around the 2 min mark) That looks like a wonderful tool that should be far more standard. Secondly - are things like bolts and nails actually good for making lasting tools, or is it just something simple on hand to practice and show off the craft?
I'm not the OP but I do make knives as a hobby. some people like the jigs for blade grinding, they work fine when you learn how to use them. Personally I don't bother, I started by hand grinding and after a while you get a feel for it. Bolts and nails are almost always a softer steel that isn't very well suited to a hard use knife, you can do it but the edge won't last as long as a properly heat treated tool steel. I am sure there are exceptions to this rule, such as certain specialty bolts but they aren't common to my knowledge. If its a light use pocket knife then what was done here might be perfectly adequate.
