    I wish you mentioned what color it is

    A Dewalt random orbital is around $60. What’s your time worth to you? It wouldn’t get the whole wheels, but you get half a wheel sanded (even scotch brited) in half an hour, per wheel.

      Definitely worth a try. I have one and ibuse it on flat surfaces. These wheels had multiple layers of paint which required a chemical stripper. I don't believe the orbital would be useful for much more than the faces of the spokes and the lip. Definatly worth a try tho.

    He should have sprayed the primer on BOTH inner and outer Before applying color, probably got primer over spray on the inside of wheels which were already painted...oops.

      You did watch the video right? Primer was sprayed on both sides of the wheel. So was paint.........

    • @harryberry474
      @harryberry474 10 месяцев назад

      @@argonandmustard5117 .... yes I watched the whole video, you primered AND top coated the inside then premiered the wheel face and top coated. What I'm saying is you should have premiered BOTH inner and face of wheel first the top coated BOTH inner and face.

      @@harryberry474 I see what your trying to say and your correct. Honestly there isnt much overspray on the inside. This was done as a temporary measure until the new wheels got purchased. If i wanted a professional finish i could have just had them powdercoated or done by a shop.

    How many cans of primer, paint and clear coat did you use?

    • @argonandmustard5117
      @argonandmustard5117  3 года назад +1

      Hi Johnson Varghese. I used 2 cans of primer, three cans of paint and one can of clear coat. I only clear coated the front of the wheels.

    I wonder which is better..dupli 1k gloss, or wheel gloss??
    Uv fade resistance, & salty water are my small challenges.

    • @argonandmustard5117
      @argonandmustard5117  3 года назад +1

      That would be a good test for longevity. The difference between the two products is the wheel paint is an Acrylic Enamel and the 1k gloss is a urethane. I suspect the urethane would hold up as well as the paint on the vehicle. If you were to use the 1k I would you may have to wait for the Acyrlic Enamel to dry then a light sanding between the color and the clear coat application. Im not sure if the 1k can be applied over the color like I did here.

      I painted some OEM 2013 Civic wheel covers that need some restoration. The first wheel cover I finished I sprayed Rustoleum Crystal Clear. I did not like the results when it was completely dry. It had a semi gloss finish.
      I saw the Duplicolor 1K and tried it. Why not right? I finished the second wheel cover and sprayed the 1K. Man, the gloss is amazing once it’s dry!!! It gave the color some pop and depth. It’s a bit pricey but well worth it!

      @@HarryWangHungLo your correct i tried it. Very clear & glossy, but i used a uprok cap adapter to get a low output U.S fan cap on it, & the finish gets better. Urethane is what it is...soft to work around like a rubber.
      I can not seem to tape over it as quickly as a acrylic enamel like paint such as polyacylic, etc. I simply re-sand the clear & put on tuff brush applied clear top coats for some of my art projects.

      Adriank81. Yes it has. they have been painted almost 6 months without any issues and plenty of wheel cleaner put on them. If you would like to see an updated picture of them head over to my Instagram page @argon_nd_mustard. I just posted pictures from a cruise. and thank you for stopping in and watching the Video.
