I'm sorry for the loss of your brother, husband, father, friend. Johnny seemed to be such a good and content person, that even showed through his dementia. Thank you all for allowing us to have the pleasure of his company all these years.
What a beautiful voice, Johnny you are such a blessing! I still watch all yor shows and you put smiles on my face and laughter in my heart. God bless you and you loved ones.
Thank You Rob Word & Bobby Crawford for sharing this wonderful video of Johnny at the Rodeo. My thoughts and Prayers are with Johnny. Thank you for so many wonderful youthful memories Johnny! 🙏🤠🙏
I love old westerns and have watched the Rifleman shows many times. Johnny was one of the greatest child actors and should have won many awards for the work he did. His music and acting have brought so much to my life and many others. Best wishes to him and his family, I hope there will soon be help for people suffering with this terrible health condition. Thank you for sharing this with all his fans .
Thanks, Rick. At Clayton Moore's funeral, Johnny came dressed in wooly chaps with a small combo and performed classic western songs from the 1930s. It was a wonderful tribute. I told Johnny I wanted him to do the same thing when I died. Unfortunately, Johnny's unable to sing anymore. A great tragedy.
Johnny, when I was about 9 I started watching The Rifleman with my dad. My dad wasn't around much because he worked all the time. He didn't know that my mom was abusing me. But just watching the TV relationship you and your TV dad shared, was enough to show me that relationships like that could be nurtured and facilitated. It changed me and made me want to be a loving mother someday. And I was. Your show was much more than just a show. It affected many lives. Today I'm a born again Christian for 45 years now, which has added a great deal more to my life. God Bless You Johnny. We care about you. You MATTER to us.
Thanks for posting, Rob. I just went to JohnnyCrawfordLegacy.com and bought the DVD set and a photo of Chuck Connors and Johnny together that I have always liked. I wanted to tell you a story about Chuck Connors. I was born in the Sunset Park/Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn NY. in 1955. My father and my older brothers attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School, the same school as Chuck Connors. My Dad played baseball in his youth for his high school and in the summers played on a local team called The Ramblers. Chuck Connors was 4 years younger than my Dad. Chuck Connors was too young for The Ramblers but being a big kid who could hit like like crazy and a big target as a first baseman for the infielders to throw to, they got him on the team. My Aunt Rose, one time, asked my Dad, "who was the tall blonde kid who came to the door to ask if Joey could come out to play baseball?" In the early 2000s, I found and read the biography of Chuck Connors by David Fury called Chuck Connors: "The Man Behind the Rifle." I really enjoyed it and it is a valued part of my library. There are three uncanny, similarities between Chuck Connors and my Dad. They both had 4 sons and no daughters. They both died on the same date November 10th, 4 years apart, at the same age of 71. I knew the Chuck Connors settled in an area outside of Tehachipi called Bear Valley Springs. I was looking at real estate there in the early 2000s. A realtor was taking me around looking at homes in this development. I said, "I understand Chuck Connors lived here." She exclaimed, "Yes, right there!" We happened to be passing the 5-acre property that he lived in. It was a Spanish Style, white stucco house. Chuck Connors had passed away in 1992 but I understand he had a replica of the North Fork cabin on that "propidy." We used to get a kick out of Chuck Connors' Brooklyn accent coming out once in a while. Well, I know this is a lengthy message, and tI hank you for indulging me in letting me tell you about it. Someday, I will tell you about my young sons and my chance meeting Roy Rogers at his museum many years ago. Take care, Rob, and thank you for your excellent youtube channel and keeping the old Westerns alive. Sincerely, Joe from Tucson
Bobby, you are a good brother. I have great memories of you and John from your television performances when I was a kid. John’s 30’s and 40’s musical offerings were particularity appealing to me as I love the music from that era (old soul). And I am from West Texas so rodeo has been a natural part of my life as well. Love and prayers for you and your dear brother. I wish I could send a decent financial donation. Both of my late parents, my paternal grandfather and an uncle suffered from Alzheimer’s. It isn’t fun for all involved. By the way, my favorite TV show as a kid was Laramie and I particularly enjoyed the older episodes when you joined Slim and Jess at the ranch. One of the Western channels is running them now and I get to enjoy them all over again! God bless.
Fantastic, I love Johnny's singing, and loved him as Mark McCain in "The Rifleman".......This is an excellent version of "Ghost Riders In The Sky", it's right up there with Marty Robbins version, which has always been my favourite....... I had no idea how accomplished a Rodeo Rider Johnny was. he had it all from my point of view, Good looking, Acting, Singing, a wonderful entertainer. Thank you Bobby, you are a gentleman like your Brother.
God Bless Johnny. Love ya buddy. Prayers to you , your beautiful wife and family. John, you have brought a smile to my face more time than I can remember. I want you to know that you are love every much. I have a tear in my eye of how time teaches us all how to savor our youth. God Bless.
I wish I had found this page earlier so I could have helped. Only just recently, I have been brushing up on my Johnny Crawford history, and I have bern kicking myself--hard. As a lover of music, how did I not know about Johnny's beautiful singing voice? Oh, I could hear "How High The Moon" everyday for the rest of my life and never get tired of it--it is the only version eorth listening to! I hope his estate gets RHINO to release his LPs again because people deserve to hear his music. What a blessing that would be. That said, I cant imagine what the Crawford Family is going thru, but please know all of you are in my heart and prayers. If we can take any comfort from this, I believe Johnny is conducting and leading the biggest and best band in the whole universe. And he is doing it with that beautiful, infectious smile of his. Many blessings.
I was so sorry to hear about Johnny’s passing!!! I have been a fan of his since I was a young teenager!! For Christmas my mom bought Bobby & Johnny record “Good Buddies for me!!! I just lived that record!!!
My wife and I have been watching reruns of The Rifleman again lately... we have seen every one more than once I’m sure.. but they are still great to see again.. your brother was a talented guy. It’s an awful disease he is dealing with, and it has touched most of us in one way or another.. so sad.
You can always count on Word on Westerns to support our childhood heroes. I was a fan of Johnny Crawford’s during his Rifleman days but totally lost sight of him after the show went off the air. How wonderful to know about his fantastic career and many talents. I’m honored to be able to contribute to his fundraising. Thank you for your heartfelt efforts.
This was amazing to see and hear. I'm thankful to Bobby for sharing it and what a great idea to help raise money for Johnny's care. Thanks, Rob, for giving the Crawfords this forum to help.
... while listening to 'Ghost Riders' I wasn't sure that was Johnny Crawford singing ... but after listening for awhile I became convinced it was him ! He sang it different from other songs I've heard him sing, guess I was expecting bopper music, but he sang this as tho he were a real cowboy ... and after watching those home movies, became convinced he IS A REAL COWBOY. Two Thumbs Up for this !
What a clear, clean, controlled tenor! Beautiful! We have been enjoying watching "Rifleman" reruns and I remember the crush I had back then (teehee). Blessings to him and your family!
Sorry to hear he's battling Alzheimer's disease, prayers to him and his family. I continue to watch & enjoy The Rifleman series here on RUclips and occasionally on cable tv.
My prayers go out to Mr Crawford and his family and friends especially his family and friends. May he Rest in Peace. May God Bless all his family left behind, by his passing
Does anybody know when those " Western Days in Knoxville, Tn " were ? What Year ? I Loved Watching the Crawford brothers on TV. Still do. Johnny sure can ride, rope and sing. Awesome.
@@AWordonWesterns Yeah...it became more noticeable as he grew...and I would always say to myself "that is no actor sitting that horse...that is a real horseman". This rodeo footage proves I was right. This is the first time I've seen this side of him. I did know that he followed a musical career with his band. Sorry to learn his health has declined, he is just a year older than I am. He was always one of my favorites and the few times he appeared later after he grew up left me longing for a full time series for him because I so enjoyed his inner spirit.
Watch your videos on a Smart tv so I don't often get a chance to comment. Just wanted to take time out to let you know how much I look foreword to them every week. Totally amazed by all the great people you know. I always thought it's better to let them know how much we appreciated their work while they're still around. Keep up the good work!
Probably never would have made the pro rodeo circuit, but I don’t think most people realize what it takes to get on the back of a bucking bronc or a rank bull even steer wrestling. I tried it once and hit the ground so hard I don’t think I’ve recovered 25 years later. LOL Sending prayers his way.
