I seasonally switch out my sofa throw blankets, cushions and lamp shades. I also have a rust ochre rug for autumn/ winter and a light beige rug for spring/ summer.
I needed to have insulation on my bedroom wall, behind the bed. So, I used an insulation board from Home Depot. I painted a mural on the foil side and used it as a headboard. We just changed the kitchen light, yesterday. It was more difficult because we were replacing a long, florescent light fixture, with a more modern one. We found it rigged to a drop ceiling! It took a while, but it was worth it in the end!
When upgrading kitchen hardware, look out for sweater grabbers! They will destroy your clothes! So avoid anything open ended. Go for designs that are closed. Your clothes will thank you for it! I also watch out for them digging into the legs when you’re leaning on the counter.
I'm getting a new bed soon, and I'm going down a size so I am excited to get bed linens. I love lighting as well but I am probably one of the few people that really dislikes puck lighting.
Ashley. This video is so informative. I find myself seeking out your videos almost on a daily basis. My question to you is when you say lighting, do you have any particular company is you’re talking about. I’ve been Looking through thousands of lighting choices to put in my own kitchen. There’s so many it makes my head spin. And could you suggest a company that offers luxurious bedding but it on affordable price? I really love the feel of cotton, but don’t like the wrinkles do you have any suggestions.
Definitely look at how knobs are attached to drawers. I was replacing knobs on my buffet dresser and found they had a mushroom stump that was in drawer front and a nail went through it from the back. I couldn’t remove the knobs well and had to fill the holes with dowel, sawdust and glue. I was bleaching the piece so the dowel had to match. I did a light colour wash and wax to get the right colour. Now they look like knots in the drawer fronts and I put long black metal handles on them. Looks fantastic. No one consciously notices them even though they’re 3/4” wide and I chose handles that didn’t go through the dowel. I’ve had the dresser for 25yrs and never noticed the nails in the back of the drawer fronts.
