    32:30 you have a 1% difference between the sluices letting water into the aquatic farm (0.65) and the dams letting water out (0.66). The difference is so small that, as the water sloshes about, the sluices open to let water in, then the surge causes water to overtop the dams, which leads to the sluices letting more water in, over and over until there's no water left. Just set them to 0.5 or something, you're trying to fly too close to the sun right now.

      Also, having just one sluice of the set active (and the others always be closed) might also reduce the sloshing. (Or maybe have three of the four set to .5, and one to .6 - they fill the lower reservoir faster when it's almost empty, and then a bit slower for the last bit.)

    A lido doesn't make your irrigation less effective. There just seems to be diminishing returns past 3x3. You'll get more irrigation at 3x4, it just won't go up as much as going from 2x3 to 3x3.

  • @MusingsMuses
    @MusingsMuses 3 месяца назад +4

    Another idea just cuz it's more doing/thinking is you could block off where the lower districts water runs off the map and make that a big lake that'd massively increase your cattail/spadderdock numbers. Just levee up the lowest part and the map edge and only let everything out like 4-5 dam pieces at the top.

  • @PauxloE
    @PauxloE 3 месяца назад +1

    1:22 Seeing that there is still water running off the map, I wouldn't say that the 0.65 is "set correctly" (maybe "as intended" fits). I'd unconnect the gates here, set three of them at 0.5 and one at 0.6, so it fills a bit faster when it's almost empty, and slower when it's near the limit for the dam, reducing sloshing when it opens and closes. A similar approach could be done for most of the other height-triggered sluices too - have most of them a bit lower, and one for the exact depth you want to go for.
    → For the contamination settings, it might make sense to have the lower sluices have higher tolerances for contamination than the upper ones, so you don't block yourself up. Or rather just open when there is contamination, to flush it out.
    9:24 "Obviously, to get the whole thing completely done is going to take a lot of metal" ... You might need to get another source of scrap metal for that, seeing that you don't have much left on this hill. (Done a bit later.)
    13:14 "I need to put ... I guess the easiest thing to do is just put levees here and then cover it later" - I would have thought two 1×1 platforms (8 logs plus 8 planks) would be the easiest (with then the impermeable floor on top), compared to the 2×1 overhang (10 logs, 10 planks, 4 metal blocks)?
    → If you want to put a Lido, put it somewhere where you'll have clean water, not in the "occassional bad water" channel.
    52:49 If you want to connect your two parts of the power grid, adding a single power shaft between the gear workshop and the lumber mill (and then the second gear workshop) would be enough until the smelters is constructed.

  • @walkir2662
    @walkir2662 3 месяца назад +1

    34:00 - the wonders of playing experimental branch...
    - You also have enough treated planks for a big water pump now.
    - there already is a small badwater tank at the centrifuge, now you added the medium one, that can also be turned into extract.
    - do you have any sickbeds in that place over there?
    - at the 3x3 irrigation plot, I would put in paths so the trees not marked for planting don't spread on the empty fields naturally. Or start with dynamiting...
    - maybe put a small gear storage between those 2 gear workshops. There's still a path from when a stair led into the water there.

    the bar two under the time shift one is a layer transparency. You can flip it through every building height you have to make edits to things you can't see under other buildings, It also allows you to fix power lines you sunk into the ground and covered with paths.

  • @Markus117d
    @Markus117d 9 дней назад

    The water overflowed when you shut that sluce gate, Because the water then backs up at that gate, that back up propergates back up stream . But it takes time for that rise to travel back up stream to the next up stream gate, which won't shutoff until the back surge reaches it.. causing the flooding.... This happens because the water is flowing, Ie moving down stream, It doesn't stop and instantly rise smoothly maintaining a perfectly flat level. Try filling a baking tray with water and watch it slosh back and forth if you trip the tray fractionally..

  • @boli2746
    @boli2746 3 месяца назад

    OK, I actually played this map on the update6 with a very similar layout so these are the numbers you'll want for your water:
    In deadling with the badwater bypass: you need EIGHT sluice gates
    4 badwater ones
    4 fresh water
    Any less and you deal with overflow.
    Downstream you need TWO sluice gates for each section all set to 0.6
    At the end you leeve right across and do a single floodgate set to 0.65
    Now this is the most important thing:
    At the top you NEED an overflow, I had 4 dam pieces top of my large reservoir and pushed it down the other side of my settlement. Sure you could put 4 sluice everywhere but this method opens up more of the map.

  • @joredor994
    @joredor994 3 месяца назад

    I think you are going to need sluice gates on your second water source. I think only water from the main source will make it to sluice gates to fill the damn. The water from the second source if all flowing straight off the map via the diversion.

    You still need more beavers, probably like 15 to 20 more. Most of those will go to the haulers which are important as well. The rest will go to the vacancies. When I play I like to always have 2 beavers always unemployed. You don't have to do that but it helps during the deathwaves.

    Lol.. You literally had the contamination explanation, and promptly forgot it again, only the first sluce gate set down stream should be set to close when there's contamination, Becuase otherwise while your buliding the bad water bypass and it's not complete yet so some gets into the reservoir, when you flush the low percentage contaminated water down stream and the other gates are set to both occasionally stop the water flow to maintain levels + block contaminated water, then when you pump out the good water from that section for drinking, It concretes the contamination, and then the next sluce gate won't open again even if the next section dries out because of the contamination level.. If the other gate are set just to maintain water levels, any mildly contaminated water will just flow on down stream and be replaced by fresh water as it does so, without potentially locking up any sections further down stream..
