19:45 "10 10 2, so thats another 12 logs" quick mafs
😂
quick maths =/= accurate maths
Exactly what I thought
You made a giant diagonal in the megadam, which could be solved with a simple L-shape, you would save 3 levees and more water would fit behind the dam.
Oh I see it now
It's for realistic structural integrity - definitely not asthetics.
Stairs > Dam anyways. Beavers need to be wet.
he could save a few levees more by having the dam follow the shape the warehouses had. The new path requires two levels in some places cause it goes via uneven land.
"The shape doesn't matter unless it's the Strongest Shape."
-Matt RCE (Probably)
Don't you just love it when Mat talks about the best solution for two episodes then completely ignores that and does something completely different that screws him over.
I'm just surprised he got the forester hut in _before_ he ran out of trees and logs.
@@keithduthie Yeah building a forester should of been one of the first things he did once he migrated the colony.
i only watch for the fails.
Feedback from previous seasons: you give up way too early in a beaver civilization, causing me to go looking for other RUclipsrs to fill my timberborn hole
I love how Matt talked about the stairs, saying what he needed to do, didn't do it, waited till the last second, and then said it wasn't his fault. "Oh no the consiquences of my own actions" -Matt probably
He keeps pretending he isn't an architect.
@@SephirothRyu yeah. The stairs thing was massive architecture energy
As soon as he paused there to destroy the stairs I knew a beaver was about to get stranded. I didn't quite expect it to keep walking in the air like that, but seriously, deleting the stairs the same time the beaver is entering the tile with the stairs in it and not expecting something bad to happen?
He could have just deleted a bit of path further back…
Matt goes full architect mode whenever he plays this game, and we all know deep down that it's not just a bit for the content.
ok, so the new dam does not have an overflow (which is not 100% necessary, since he can control the water inflow, but we all know there WILL be flooding without it)
I think your mega dam has a fatal flaw, which will become obvious once the forester and the wood cutters get flooded.
I recommend about 2 of the levees to be replaced with dams, so you can keep the path on the top.
Given the amount of water coming through the floodgate it probably only needs 1.
You're gonna love the new sluice gates in experimental. They allow for fully walkable dams in addition to a bunch of other cool new capabilities, like letting the water out at the bottom of a dam and automatic response to bad water.
...I did not know that was a thing, but then again never dabbled in the experimental branch.
Vote if Matt should do 2 episodes per week
Let's not over work him 😅
@@JorgeLopez-qj8puas if he isn’t months ahead in recordings 😂
He shouldn't
I don't think he should. It'll get boring
I dont think he can, considering his child just born
i cant wait for next episode where matt relaize its all levee and flood everything xD
Well, he can just shut down the floodgate on top
He can but he will probably forget
This. Also I like that he may have unwittingly created another solution to this by building a small storage path behind the levees instead of using stairs. When it overtops he can just demolish the levees in front of the small storage to let the water out while maintaining his path.
This all seems like it creates the constant need to micro-manage everything though instead he should just use 1 or 2 dams in the top layer of levees. I'm glad I'm not the only one that saw this.
@@tadcammans8045 He wants to extend it upwards though, flood gates would be better for longterm. Besides, you can just set the floodgates to the same height as a dam piece would cover, and it would just function identically until its time to extend it.
But he wont do that, its either open or its closed. xD
Flood gates are only beneficial once you know the final height of the dam. Matt needs less to manage so we can avoid more "Incidents". And, dams prevent flooding while allowing for a pathway on top and maximizing volume in the reservoir.
When Matt´s new dam is finished, he´ll have a flooding over it, because he didn´t think of letting water out before it tops over XD
remember they are beavers and can go into the water. just make a path next to the dam and stairs. that is 2 logs instead of the 12-15 for the storage.
And not only that, it gives wellbeing score from wet fur for the beavers who walk paths that are under water.
I think that dam is gonna cause flooding and I’m all in for it XD
You mean to tell me a RUclipsr is going to make their beavers walk through water instead of building (useless early game) showers?
@@zecuse at least RCE has done it in the past, though he quite often forgets about that option existing.
With badtides it’s dangerous to make key paths through water.
Deletes a path to keep beavers going through the badwater.
Realises that doesn't work so deletes the stairs.
Rebuilds the stairs and then deletes the path to stop beavers going to get the logs.
Waiting for him to act surprised when the levees overtop and flood the surrounding area.
When everything is high prioritized, nothing is high prioritized.
Timberboners, Let's Go!!!!
I'd rather say timberborners roll out
True@@sky0kast0
Matt being like: "Oh our berry storage is full, let me pause this gatherer." turns around, build another new gatherer...
Also reducing to 1 builder, and being like "Why isn't stuff getting built?"
Matt: Leaves it until the last possible second to delete a set of stairs he knows beavers are going to use because he just saw it.
Also Matt: "That wasn't my fault!"
Hope you'll spot update 6 on the experimental branch, 3D water.
10:26 "Stop. You, listening. You. You. Stop. Do not write that comment calling me an idiot." I wasn't tempted to call Matt and idiot. I was tempted to call him a murderer because he's probably going to let that poor beaver die a long, slow, horrible death like all the others. Though at this point, I'm starting to wonder if "serial beaver killer" is a more accurate term.
Mega dam never gets old.
Mega dam never get is old
Good English
@@bradShank Thank you, for pointing my mistake, brother!
Mega dam, like RCE's early game beavers, never gets old.
@@MolotovEcho 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
@@MolotovEcho pointing out* 😉
that stair beaver was comedy gold.
Ok, how did he know that I sing along?
Chances are at least 20% would do it if they want to at the time so that's statistically likely.
Because everyone does
He engineered the song to be catchy, so that everyone sings along. 😉
Everyone who doesn't just skip the intro entirely, perhaps.
hey at least a huge part of us sing along the first words
Been watching RCE for AGES now, and timberborn got me into his channel and now i cant stop watching it!
Me too
I sing the theme song when I load up timberborn on my own machine. 😂
Hopefully you start playing update 6 soon! Aqueducts! The ultimate bridge.
Haven't seen him paly on experimental, and it makes sense because that breaks savegames too often. Like they changd how irrigation worked in 5 experimental at least twice, forcing everyone to redo the entire food/wood production.
My first thought when I saw that the farmers are gonna have hats in update 6 is that the builders should also get hard hats 👷
Also, if RCE sees the custom tail tattoo machine and doesn't immediately make a strongest-shape tattoo, I'll be shocked haha
You probably need a few fluid dumps for the dried up lakes
Justice for Ricardo and IAmDestructoman!!
Yup, he acts like soviet government dealt with chernobyl liquidators.
might need to bring you to the midwest of the states. we got a few dam failures here in minnesota. one of them has taken a house with it now
11:04 - The Incident 2.1? 😂
Waiting for someone to point that out, lol
the beavels EP ? YES PLEASE!!
more timberborn
Loved the video @RealCivilEngineer! Can't wait for the next video man! Holy Septic Tank man, I really missed out on a lot of Action here since Kerbal Space Program 2 came out LMAO! Like they say, It's a Dirty Job but someone's gotta do it!
I've got an Interesting idea for you to try out on the Channel man! For a while now, Ever since the Final Chapter of RAFT came out, I've always had the Idea to build a Fleet of Ships from World War Two in RAFT to have some fun with. However, the Biofuel Needed is going to be the Main Headache as the Replenshiment at Sea Operations would require you to First Build a Bridge between the Supply Ship and the Ship that needs the Biofuel or Other Supplies and then Building the Pipe for the Biofuel to flow from the Supply Ship to the Ship that needs the Biofuel. Once the Ship's been Refueled, the Pipeline and the Bridge both then have to be Taken Down and the Salvaged Resources put back in Storage.
While this is almost certainly a Late-Game Project, the Fact that there are so many things to be done only fuels my Curiosity Further! As a Test, I'd like to see if you could build at least One of the Following Ships and/or Landing Craft from World War Two in RAFT as part of a Server with your own Community! With the Official Player Limit of 8, while Technically having No limit, there will be Plenty of Challenges to face with this, but I am Confident in your Engineering Prowess from the Tesla Valve in "City Skylines" a while back that you'll be able to pull this off. As an Extra Bonus, These Designs to test the "In-Game Fleet Theory" will be of British Origin!
Royal Navy Ships and Landing Craft from World War Two:
• Landing Craft Assault (LCA) (None Preserved sadly).
• Landing Craft Tank Mark 3 (LCT Mark 3 or LCT 3) (Only One Preserved, TLC 7074 at the D-Day Story Museum by Portsmouth).
• Landing Craft Infantry (Large) (LCI(L)) (3 Different Designs to Chose from; LCI-1 to LCI-350 have the Side Ramps and Square Conn, LCI-351 to LCI- 690 have the Side Ramps and Round Conn and LCI-691 to LCI-1098 have the Bow Ramp and Square Conn; two of the Latter are Preserved and/or Still undergoing Restoration).
• River-class Frigates (5 Different Designs; Royal Navy Group I, Royal Navy Group II, Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Australian Navy Group I and Royal Australian Navy Group II. Stick with either Royal Navy Group I or Group II).
• Dale-class Replenishment Oilers (3 Groups to Choose from, although there's not really a lot to go on for any Design Specifics aside from some pictures of some of the Ships themselves).
• Type C1-S-AY1 Ships (13 Ships Built in the United States of America by the British as Landing Ship Infantry, Large. All their Names initially started with "Empire", later some ships were named after Racehorses that had won the Derby).
I can't stress enough how important this is as this might just put the Game to it's Limits. While the Building mechanics seem to be on a Similar Basis with Minecraft in terms of Size (I.E. Using the Metric System), we don't really know how much Power a Rotary Engine (Think a Paddle Steamer's Wheel, yeah that thing) puts out or rather, how much speed it puts out. Don't worry about the Armaments of these Ships and Landing Craft, Just use some of the Various Blocks for the Sake of Completeness if you want it to look like as it did in the Second World War. Just try to keep the Build to 1:1 Scale as best possible, and have some fun with the RCE Community while doing so!
Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man! If the Tests do work out, then I've got a Decent Fleet from the Kriegsmarine for you to try and Build!
Matt… just wondering but with levees won’t the water just spill over and flood the forester?
Wouldn’t putting in at least one dam piece for now stop that? 🤔👀
I would call this the incidence 2.1
🎼🎵🎶 "WELCOME BACK TO TIMBERBORNERS"🎶🎵 -I sing or hum along everytime
10:20 - "but you didnt have to cut me off" meme should be here 😂😂😂
You do understand that you could just move the piles into a non-contaminated zone right?
If you place a building blueprint on a pile the pile will move away. It will prefer to go down a level and it will prefer to move no more than two squares away. Also, piles will merge with each other. So all you have to do to move piles with precision is to block off every point where you don't want the pile to move two quares deep and leave open the square you want the pile to move. After that place a building blueprint on the pile itself and it will move exactly to the square you want. You can repeat this as often as you like and move the pile across the entire map if neccesary. Be aware that if there is no suitable square for the pile to move into the pile will vanish.
Bout time we got back to the beavers!
When is Mat going to realize he can get his logs back from that one small warehouse down by the lumbermill and water wheel that was used strictly to block the builder from going into the poo water to build the water wheel :D:D:D
Timber Friday!!!
The song at the Intro is "Anyone Can Fall In Love" by Anita Dobson and Brian May from Queen. Great 80's track.
I don't know why, I love this series.
Says "its looking Good" Beavers Hear We're DOOOOOOOMED!!!
23:57 as someone named Lukas, I can confirm that we are very skilled at pumping logs
Love the eastenders cover song lol 😂😂
This is the true second episode of this season, finally there’s progress
Always great to have a video from you, and more because it's Timberborn ! I can't get over this game for real, keep it up!
I would really like to listen to the timberborners theme song, it's amazing every time.
Remember that you can build foot paths under water
I can't wait for Mat to get to update 6. It looks so fun and like it'll help them manage so much better
As much as I like a smooth flowing beaver colony, the best parts of these videos are when Matt isn't paying attention to a detail that horrifically backfires and forces him to make a number of drastic, sudden changes to pull the colony back from the brink by the skin of his teeth. It's part of why I like the early episodes of a season a bit more than the later ones.
I can't wait to see what Matt tries on Update 6 however. I think he is gonna love that one. (No spoilers just in case.)
Making the dam with only levees and no actual dams is a certified Matt move.
At this point Matt speaks so frequent about the Incedents (1.0 and 2.0) 0:38 ; 15:09, that I almost have a feel he enjoys bringing them up!
that was an architect move. I propose a vote for sending RCE to the shaming wheel.
Can’t wait for the flood when he finishes getting those levies in 😂
11:02 Ricardo changes THE INCIDENT 2.0 into THE INCIDENT 2.1, right? 👍😊
Looking forward to Matt exploring update 6 with 3D water physics, easier access to suspension bridges and new aqueducts
With Ricardo, the beavers work on anything 10 squares away from a road. When you demolished the water pump, the builders had something in range so they went over
One thing I always do for trees, especially the ones that take longer to grow, is stagger them so that there is an almost constant supply. Like for oak, I'll have my forester plant a new one every 2 days or so.
🎵Welcome back to Timberborners! 🎵
Real Civil Engineer Idea Put Super Happy Fun Land In The Poop Volcano
19:47 10+10+2=12 (Matt was an engineer. [was]) 👍😊
Had a hard week, but it’s better now because Matt uploaded a new episodes of Timberborners ™️
7:15 , maybe he should be a scientist BECAUSE HE IS SCIENTIST NATE! Doesn’t that make sense to anyone else? 😂😂😂
That Kilodam Mat made is going to flood parts of the colony, since it's completely made of levies, with no Floodgates or actual Dams XD
I love how that Beaver just learned how to fly just to die.
Prime thumbnail work this season!
0:50 you looked at that building and thought it was watertight?
Pro tip, if you can see through it then it's probably not watertight.
The intro gets me EVERY single time
Been waiting the whole week for this!
Best overall is pine for short term, and oak for long term if you already have a good supply.
This is not engineering, this is architecture!
If you put stairs up next to the dam, the farm closest to it could plant crops on the areas above too
I had a horrible day at work today. Thank you for the bevers making me smile! Thank you for paddy and thank you matt!
I'm learning so much about beaver eugenics this season!
because of you I had Timberborners on my steam wishlist and just saw it's getting a huge 3d physics update. Can't wait to see what you'll do with it in the near future!
The new update announcement looks amazing and definitely some stuff you can work with like the aqueducts
I like how in the thumbnail the Dam somehow has a lock hole without letting water out which defies physics
I would love to see a megapoo power plant! Have a stepped turbine where instead of just water flowing under, you properly have flow from above and onto the wheel!
Easy way to gain food diversity (& thus happiness) for Folktails is to plant sunflowers near your carrots. No processing needed, just pick and eat!
Fluid Dumps... I remember when RCE actually outlined how he could really effectively utilise them... Alas
I literally sang along to it this time, then RCE dropped “I know you all sing along” and now I’m startled
regular reminded you can just stail into the water to cross it instead of building a storage bridge, and get the extra bonus of wet fur and cute swiming animations
Watching the new dam have no place for the water to go. Hope matt doesnt forget it
YaY! Beavers!
And should we tell him that he will get floods because he forgot to put dams on top?
It's my boi with his dam beavers!
"We're out of logs for the dam" *uses a design that uses more logs than necessary*
Matt's famous last words, "That should be alright."
One minute later, oh no it's "the incident 2.1"
I swear I will be the best beaver to help this colony
When doing big dams. Avoid diagonals. The not only waste material. But if you use the same amount of blocks to make it square and then you can hold more water
I swear to beaver god, one of these days you're gonna open up this game and a buncha beavers wielding shields, hammers, mech suits and one super buff one are gonna come and want to take you down with how many beavers end up dying to disease from these incidents! LOL
Need to switch out those Levi pieces for Dam pieces so it doesn't end up flooding your buildings.
A Beavles EP? I'm excited!
Get Berries, paper, and dandelion, and build a herbalist for your sick beaver.
Hey Matt! The new update is available on the experimental branch, and among the changes are some new animations are so cute!
There's no war in Ba Sing Se, there's no Incident 2.0 in Timberborners
I need the Beavles album ASAP😭
BEAVELS ALBUM LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!!
Waiting for that dam to be finished only for Matt to realize, that the water will overflow somewhere else then
Work those who walk the stairs to super happy fun land as scientists.
the intro just getting better and better
These Beavers gave me a Timber Borner
