22plinkster you're getting too popular. Too many damn haters in the comment section. Half of them probably never fired a single shot in their lives. Well keep plinking!
Instructor Zero loves challenges! But let's up the ante here. .22Plinkster and Jerry Miculek: Show us more than 1 hit on target using the same magazine with no camera cuts. Baseline has been set at 300m :) -GN
Big week for Eric and the Moss Pawn boys. First FPS Russia and now the great Plinkster himself. Those guys are makin' it big. I hope they can get Hickok45 out to the range next week.
Great shot. I'm sure that woodsman only had a little to do with it. That was skill. I saw some questions about penetration and Iraqvetern888, does some great videos of long range .22lr penetration.

Great video, your skills are incredible! 500 yards, I probably couldn't even see the target that far away.
Plinkster: Since you are the King/Master of the 22LR and I love my Walther PPQ-M2 9mm It has come to my attention that Walther has just released the fact that they will make the PPQ-M2 in "22LR" !!!! I already have several 22LR pistols based on YOUR recommendations, THANKS !!! Would love your comments on the Walther !!!????
You didn't talk much about it, like how many tries, or what your holdover was. I mean, great shot, I'm thoroughly impressed and would probably take forever for me to do it. Would love to hear maybe just a little more back story before or while getting ready to make the shot. That's all.
How high did you have to aim? When I shoot long range with iron sights I pick a spot on a object above the target, then aim at that spot. How do you do it? I grew up in the 50's shooting gophers in our pasture after a few shots and watching the dust fly long shots where easy with no wind. Lots of fun.
yea at least 50 inches and that's assuming you have a machine holding the pistol perfectly straight. i've done the math and less than a 1mm aiming error results at least 20 feet off target either way. and not many people can hold to less than 1mm aiming error.
I've met Plinkster and 2 of the witnesses to this shot, all "straight shooters" pun intended, he is legit. Ridiculous eyesight and skill. haters, find something better to hate on, this one is true deal. Not saying he is Tom k or Jerry m, but he's getting up there with his preferred tools. Great series, Eric and Zeke were both impressed with this crazy shotfrom what has been said. Tnjr
Of course, it's impossible the witnesses are not in on the whole thing. I don't care how brilliant of a marksman he is, it's too easy to fake and too hard to actually do for it to be real.
Skariaxil, I hope that this comment, made 9 months after mine posted, is poorly formed sarcasm. If not, I truly feel sorry for you and your pessimistic negative outlook on life. Your premise that, paraphrased of course, it's too hard for you to do, therefore didn't occur.... wow... Go practice. You might surprise yourself with what can be accomplished when one works hard. .. TNJR
tnjrcfl1 It's not sarcasm, it's parsimony. It's far more likely someone is reasonably capable of using windows movie maker (or has someone in on the joke that is) and has a few friends willing to play along, rather than someone actually being this good at shooting a pistol.
I wouldn't doubt it one bit those old colt woodsman are wonderful pistols I have one and I can hit things far away that I can't hit with my 40 S&W Glock
record the video to your computer, then use a video editing program and time the shot, then run the numbers. most ammo lists velocities at muzzle, 50, 100 yards, guessing from a video from an unknown camera with unknown lenses and focal lengths is silly, use your head! it's not just something to hang a hat on!
u can easily judge distance by the scale of the other objects in the video, i.e.: the trees in the background. Ppl with practical wilderness experience know these things.
and i guess youy're one of those ppl that dwell in the wilderness. personally i'd never attempt a shot at 100 yards with my current .22 pistols, i'm gonna re-work a ruger Charger with a Tony Kidd barrel and bolt action. if i'm gonna shoot at sometning 500 yards away, i'll use my SKS.
Would a telephoto lens make the background appear closer? Absolutely! You think you can tell how far the target was by the LOOKS through the camera? A more accurate measure is the time from the shot until impacting the target. It was AT LEAST 500 yards.
getbo HOW MANY FIREARMS HAVE YOU USED? A lightweight .22lr round fired in an open environment (means wind) out of a 5 inch barrel at 500 yards...theres just NO FUCKING WAY. Probably why they didnt bother to laze the distance for the camera. A .22 mag, maybe, but after several attempts.
And here I was impressed with myself when I shot a one foot wide by two feet high piece of steel at 115 yards with a Browning Buckmark. Now....not as much. :P I did shoot a 13 striped ground squirrel at 109 yards with my Spike's Tactical AR-22 however (I paced it out after the shot). It went in its left eye and out the back of the noggin'. I'm still happy about that shot at least. :D Great video guys!
I saw the video where you an 8888 shot 22lr rifles at that distance, I think in the video you said you were aiming about 40ft to 50ft above the target. HOW HIGH did you have to aim this time, must have been 70ft to 100ft?
Can anybody estimate the bullet drop with a .22LR at that range (500 yards)? We'll I did a little searching and the general figures were around 200 inches which IS about 16 1/2 feet. So therefore you were shooting more than 16 feet above that white metal plate? If you really made that shot with a .22LR, then well done. Even with the slightest wind that little bullet would be pushed miles off target. Even with a rifle with a very good scope on it, shooting off a bench, that shot would be considered nearly impossible with a .22LR.
Advantage of shooting over that little pond. You can walk onto the target. It's easy to see the splashes in the water. Still, only six shots to walk it on...that's DAMNED good, 'cause (like the guy said earlier) there's not even a bullet drop chart for a .22 at 500 long paces.
NICE SHOT! wonder how high he held it. for some reason i think you would have a better chance with a .22lr over a regular pistol caliber. seems more aerodynamic since its a rifle round. and less surface area to be pushed around. couldnt see a big ol 45 doin that. plus you would have to lob it like a howitzer lol.
I shoot long range with a 300 win mag and have more hold over than that at 500 yards. Plus you can't see a white 12" target at 200 yards without an optic. BS flag is up. Still... have lots of respect for this guy, he's a legend.
Well it sure is amazing that he is shooting 500 yards with this pistol... but guys ... physics and stuff, with a 50bmg you get kill shots to 5 km ...what about someone uploads that !
Well thats just plain insane, i see people raging that they can hit 500yrds with their 22 rifle. You my friend have just raised to bar. Very very high!
At 500 yards this round from this pistol is carrying 30 lb-ft of energy, which is actually MORE than a high power .22 pellet gun shooting at 1000 fps at the muzzle. It's still not a joke and is possibly lethal. A bb gun is a joke compared to 22LR.
here,s a question, why bother to buy a gun or any weapon for that matter if you cant get any ammo for it after your purchase ?. are you supposed to walk up to your target and pistol whip it!!!!??????
One of the advantages of having the target behind a pool of water. Easier to tell where to hold and walk the shot in. I wouldn't doubt that a 22 has a better trajectory than a 45. Jerry Miculek had a hold over of around 30 feet he said.
I was just reading about us deputy bass reeves, and he mentioned shooting a man at 500 yards and i just had to get a visual on what that looked like. Goddamn
Aw, this gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling, its like the little .22 who could!! Good job, plink :)
SKILLS!
LOL, I love how when Demo comment's on a video it get at least 20 like's.
9 years ago is crazy
Great stuff man! Upside down and 2 times in a row next please... *Leaning back into my chair* :)
Holy freaking crap! I'd like to know how many tries were involved, but regardless that was an *amazing* shot.
***** Check out the original on RUclips or here on G+: 22plinkster. He says it took 6 tries!
***** In the description it tells you how many tries, the answer was 6 btw.
I'll do 800 yards, hold my beer.
That's more than a quarter mile. Wow.
That .22 bullet must have been exhausted at 500 yards. Great shot.
22plinkster you're getting too popular. Too many damn haters in the comment section. Half of them probably never fired a single shot in their lives. Well keep plinking!
Half of them? I haven't fired a single shot in my life, and I'm not even a hater! I'm pretty sure the number is more like 90% of them.
Congress doesn’t even know the difference between an assault rifle and a gun you can go hunting legally.
Instructor Zero. Your move.
Instructor Zero loves challenges! But let's up the ante here. .22Plinkster and Jerry Miculek: Show us more than 1 hit on target using the same magazine with no camera cuts. Baseline has been set at 300m :) -GN
*Grabs popcorn*
Praise The Plinkster......Great Shot Brother.
Awesome! Where was your hold?
The sun. :) No, I was holding about 35 foot over.
22plinkster holy shit!
22 jokester
What brand pistol, and what barrel Jess?
Like to know..
Jeff ten Cate Colt Woodsman. Good luck finding one. I've had a hard time.
Big week for Eric and the Moss Pawn boys. First FPS Russia and now the great Plinkster himself. Those guys are makin' it big. I hope they can get Hickok45 out to the range next week.

That was one hellofva shot! Nicely done!
Holy .22 moly!!! 500yrds.....WOW!!!! Great shot plinkster!!
You do better with a .22lr pistol iron sights at 500 yards then most shooters can do at 200 yards with a .22lr that has a scope! :D
You didn't talk much about it, like how many tries, or what your holdover was. I mean, great shot, I'm thoroughly impressed and would probably take forever for me to do it. Would love to hear maybe just a little more back story before or while getting ready to make the shot. That's all.
Man I don't care if it took you a couple dozen shots...THAT'S AMAZING!
How high did you need to aim the gun to pull this off?
Well, he answered another person: 35 yrds!!!!
love your skill!
How high did you have to aim? When I shoot long range with iron sights I pick a spot on a object above the target, then aim at that spot. How do you do it? I grew up in the 50's shooting gophers in our pasture after a few shots and watching the dust fly long shots where easy with no wind. Lots of fun.
THAT IS CRAZY!
Ha, and I thought 200 yards was stretching it with a .22lr rifle! Amazing!
was their a mike by the target???? good shooting. No wind?
Dude that is awesome I wish I could do that and hey I was wondering if you were going to make another fishing video
25 people dislike this video because they can't afford or find the ammo to try this themselves... Incredible shot guys.
Your move Instructor Zero.
Nice shot btw
That was 99% luck. Spread at 500 yards with bulk ammo is atleast 10 MOA (50 inches)
Not luck, just probabilities.
yea at least 50 inches and that's assuming you have a machine holding the pistol perfectly straight. i've done the math and less than a 1mm aiming error results at least 20 feet off target either way. and not many people can hold to less than 1mm aiming error.
Sadly the camera does not convey the suggested distance.
It looked like 320m to me, around 350yards.
Try splitting a playing card at that range now. lol Good shot man.
You are awesome!
How many attempts did it take to make that show Mr Plinkster?
now try the 1000 yard 18" steel plate shot :-)
Simply amazing!
I've met Plinkster and 2 of the witnesses to this shot, all "straight shooters" pun intended, he is legit. i got a colt model .22 they only made them a few years.....whats your take on them?
Gimme.
now spin 2 nickels, run back 500 yards and shoot them
Nice shot. These little guns are not given the respect they deserve. I mean Wow. With a pistol at that distance is impressive
Awesome, bro!
Thought I was loosing my mind when I heard Eric's voice..
was that eric from iv8888 in the background.
BANG..................................................................TING
Good shot man, never doubted it
So what cloud were you aiming at exactly to lob that in there?
I wouldn't doubt it these old colt woodsman are wonderful pistols I can hit things far away with mine that I can't with my 40 S&W Glock
I wouldn't doubt it one bit those old colt woodsman are wonderful pistols I have one and I can hit things far away that I can't hit with my 40 S&W Glock
wait for it wait for it....plink
hey man nice shot.
looks like 300, 350 yds tops. 500 would be around the treeline behind the target.
record the video to your computer, then use a video editing program and time the shot, then run the numbers. most ammo lists velocities at muzzle, 50, 100 yards, guessing from a video from an unknown camera with unknown lenses and focal lengths is silly, use your head! it's not just something to hang a hat on!

That's nothing. I've done the same from 1000 yards... using only my toes!
Was iraqveteran8888 with you
And here I was impressed with myself when I shot a one foot wide by two feet high piece of steel at 115 yards with a Browning Buckmark. That was amazing. I am quite surprised that the deflection angle was so low. Such a gnarley shot!!
Lol I'm dying over the hold being at the sun... Man they was flippin crazy good shooting man
Well, how nice. Now upside down please.
Good Job.
How much penetration from a .22 at that distance?
I saw the video where you an 8888 shot 22lr rifles at that distance, I think in the video you said you were aiming about 40ft to 50ft above the target. HOW HIGH did you have to aim this time, must have been 70ft to 100ft?
wow I don't always comment of your videos plinkster, but that was a great shot!
Ive done that....Of course my rarget was the roof of an abandoned barn behind my house. So the target was just a wee bit biger, HAHAHA!
very nice shooting!
Holy crap, Only 22Plinkster could pull this off, I'm not surprised it took even you at least 6 shots!
What's a guess on how many FPS that bullet is moving at 500 yards? or is it just basically falling out of the sky?
About 600fps / 30 ft-lb of energy.
Can anybody estimate the bullet drop with a .22LR at that range (500 yards)?
We'll I did a little searching and the general figures were around 200 inches which IS about 16 1/2 feet.

Your fuckin amazing with a 22. I like small calibers to all the 17 and 22 but never seen shit like that.
Great shot. I don't think I could do that with a .22lr rifle, doing it with a pistol is just unheard of.

Wow! Looks like Jerry has some competition. You should definitely collaborate and make a video together. 9mm vs .22 trick shot shooting competition.
NICE SHOT! wonder how high he held it. for some reason i think you would have a better chance with a .22lr over a regular pistol caliber. seems more aerodynamic since its a rifle round. and less surface area to be pushed around. couldnt see a big ol 45 doin that. plus you would have to lob it like a howitzer lol.

Man that's a long way for a handgun period let along a double deuce.
Heck of a shot, especially with a gun older then most people on RUclips.
wth! you are a bullet whisperer. I have trouble shooting that far with a .223 bolt action on a bench with a sled ....lmao.... good shooting!
Were did you hold your sights ? At 250yards, a 22LR already has 55" of drop, I can't even find a chart going at 500 yards...
Awesome shot! Thank goodness the camera had film in it....yeh....I'm old
Well it sure is amazing that he is shooting 500 yards with this pistol... but guys ... physics and stuff, with a 50bmg you get kill shots to 5 km ...what about someone uploads that !
I'm not surprised. It's 22Plinkster. I'm surprised that they could hear it.
How the heck can you see the target at that range?
Well thats just plain insane, i see people raging that they can hit 500yrds with their 22 rifle. You my friend have just raised to bar. Very very high!
Good shooting mate... how high did you aim to compensate the projectile drop?
ya and at that distance its about as powerful as a daisy bb gun
At 500 yards this round from this pistol is carrying 30 lb-ft of energy, which is actually MORE than a high power .22 pellet gun shooting at 1000 fps at the muzzle. It's still not a joke and is possibly lethal. A bb gun is a joke compared to 22LR.

Yeah buddy !! Good shot .. I have a first Gen Colt Woodsman down in the safe and never thought anyone could do that with one .. SWEET Your the man !!

i did'nt think it possible ,500 yrds with a 22 pistol.well, only you or hickok could do it.great shot .thanks.
Is that Eric (iraqveteran8888) from moss pawn and gun I hear in the background?
Fantastic!
it's not about shoting something @ 500 yards
it's about hitting something @ 500 yards
My favorite ammo. And think, it can kill a man at that range.
Oh yes it can!
The was a great LONG shot. Shoot. Drink a beverage. "Plink"
Sweet. No card splitting at 500 Yards? :)
Wow! Scoped rifle distance with a pistol using iron sights. I could try that all day and not even get close.
Amazing shot bro! Nice to see you and IV8888 working together again!
I was just reading about us deputy bass reeves, and he mentioned shooting a man at 500 yards and i just had to get a visual on what that looked like. Goddamn
That's awesome mate,I thought I was doing good at 500 with a rifle and scope, and that took 5 rounds lol
Only one way to go after this: 500 yards backwards while using an iPhone to aim lol.
Miculek, you've been called out......respond!!!
If you can't do it is because it cant be done period, the place where it was done is like heaven should be for a shooter just beautiful.
You need to go get your vision tested you may be the first person to literally have hawk eyes 20/2 vision.
he was probably aiming 10 meters above the target.
You should start a "22 sniper squad". Seriously though, epic!
