Those were much happier times in Vegas. Not as commercialize as now with all kinds of fees, paid parking and the crime and homeless.

I miss themed casinos. Nowadays they are like buildings in any city you go to, nothing special or unique about them.

The north strip had so much life then!
Side note, my first trip to Vegas was about a month earlier, early April ‘94, and I stayed at the Riviera! I’ll always remember that first night walking that same area and how spectacular the neon signs were! Now that area feels so desolate…

The strip was much better then. Everything wasn’t built right up to the sidewalk with high rise buildings surrounding everything. The strip felt much more open and enjoyable to walk and not so claustrophobic.

this brings back memories of the stardust jumping fountains, I would used to block the water from jumping from one fountain to another,

thanks for the video. thumbs down to the convention center for tearing the riv down for NOTHING! oh ,SORRY my mistake, the riv blocked the view of that dumb convention center. so i guess that may have been the reason. i dont buy they decided to not build on to the convention center further and needed the riv property, so now the riv lot is empty! anyhow, the properties that have survived those bad choices to tear down the older casinos, and NOT replace them until recently are lucky enough to still be there. example would be circus circus which is now beautiful inside since phil ruffin bought it after mgm ran it into the ground. its beautiful inside and outside now... the sahara actually is awesome now after the sls did a horrible half assed renovation of the place, hence im not suprised they didnt make it. so now The new owners that bought it off of sls made the sahara absolutely beautiful!!!!!!! its amazing how beautiful it is now. they did an awesome renovation including the marra tower which we now stay in. cheers

New York to Atlantic City used to have a "package deal" (bus ticket/buffet ticket/gambling ticket) .... i don't know if they still do this

Nope. Used to be a all day buffet deal. Now no buffet opens twice a day. Many are gone. You wouldn't want to eat the crap they now serve. For $60 usd or more....😮

Nice video. Obvsly feeling out a new camcorder and playing with the effects. I wonder which was the excuse, going to Vegas to try out the new camera, or springing for a new camera because they were going to Vegas.😄. Only been there twice, once as a kid in the mid 70s (just passing thru with the folks) and once just a couple years after this for our anniversary. Stayed in and around The Excalibur. Didn't gamble much, just went for the pretty lights, food, desert air, etc. Funny, we woke up and saw the OJ verdict while we were there. Different times. Anyway, great upload.

I remember that Sony camcorder that I was using. It used a tape cartridge and was very "high-tech" back then. It's ancient, now! These days, I can edit, splice, add or remove audio, and save it all to a hard drive and it will never lose its HD, 4k quality. It's good to look back, isn't it?

    • @Cre80s

@@marlonb.8243 Very much. And, there's something to be said for the limitations of the technology back then. We took fewer choices farther back then. Now, these days, we can have it all, and now we feel uninspired to capture much of anything anymore. It's like Karl Bartos (of Kraftwerk) said in an interview on the topic, "creativity begins with the deadline". Meaning limitations.

The days of some deals to attract people in. Now its like having your wallet stolen. Notghng is cheap. Buffets are like waste bins or soooo expensive. Few free drinks and low payouts. High min limits for cards. Fees for everything. To park, swim, stay. Zero staff to help. Bellagio fountain is still free and thats about it. Stench of drugs and homeless are unpleasant. Vegas is unpleasant. Wont go again
