The big hosing boom in the early 90" s after The Mirage was built changed everything. It's a progressive city, not that it has too many temptations, it's more of a point that it's what Las Vegas built on I" m still here since 1967 The mob was just interrupted what was meant to happen The truth is What Kirk Kerkorian &:Steve Wynn finished - Howard Hughes started Without them there is no Blackstone/Vicci properties, or corporate Monopolies And they were here when I was just a little boy
IMO, this was the absolute peak of Vegas. There was a nice but also fun mix of old and new still visible. You had new cool themed hotels like Luxor, and just the "right" amount of luxury with Mirage or Caesar's Palace. But the city was still so fun and affordable. I think the opening of the Bellagio ushered in a new era.
I loved the late 80's and early-mid-90's! It just seemed more fun back then with better comps and cheaper food, good shows, free parking, etc. Now it's all about greed!!! Corporate America!!!
I miss the old Vegas. I remember my stepfather took me and my brother to watch pirate show at Treasure Island. That was a spectacular show. Back of the MGM used to be theme park and that was fun during summer time. Volcano show at Mirage was awesome too and the Circus Circus with $0.50 games.
At 1:52 is that where they park the airplanes at the airport that take government workers to Area 51?? I have heard that those planes are parked somewhere on the airport lot (away from the main terminal) and the government employees enter into them, even to this day, the old school way with the drive-up stairs. This video was in 1994 before the internet so I am sure most people back then just walked right by them and didn't give it a second thought. I have seen videos of them taking off at the Vegas airport and they look pretty much like these ones. No airline markings or anything like that. Just a color stripe going across the plane that probably came like that from the factory at Boeing, Airbus, or whomever made them.
Hey, you caught that too, those planes are called Janets. It might be what they call the entire airline program, but the planes are called Janet's for sure. I escaped SoCal in 2015 and bought a home in Henderson NV, and depending what direction the winds are blowing Vegas airport would have to change what direction all planes would land & depart. so on a windy day the planes would fly right above my house, and when the Janet's would start coming in from Area 51 from about 2:30p till 6:00p...
It blew my mind when they where actually driving on Fremont street.
I loved the late 90s early 2000s in Vegas. Still love going out there, but not the same.
Same. I remember the $5.99 steak dinners, the inexpensive buffets. The atmosphere was so good. It was classic Vegas.
@@heidiaguilar1257 It was for sure, only true Vegas now is down on Fremont.
It’s not better. I moved there in 91. $2 steak at the Horseshoe
get ready for the Dubai City Megaresort and Casino with Megamall

I miss al the old, free attractions of 1990s Vegas! The Luxor boast ride was so much fun.

Born in Las Vegas in 1983 .. I'm still here. It's like a mini L.A.

Miss the pirate show 😢
Another time another world.
Is this all of your footage of mgm grand adventures? Footage of it in these glory days (1993 - 1996) is very rare and your images are so clean
Yes, Sony Hi-8 was a good camera at that time.
Vegas sure has lost its nostalgia
Especially now that the Mirage is gone. That was my go-to Vegas hotel since 2009.
Liked this video just because 96.3 Playing Money For Nothing. Hell Yeah.
R.I.P the dunes
Where was that helicopter part at?
Behind MGM Hotel, MGM studio tour.
That tv in the room was terrible
