Thank you so much. I had replaced the batteries on both but was thinking the box was either on or off for the remote in stead of in the middle. Works fine. So grateful to you
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Had a few cool nights and right no time like the present to start up the fireplace...and correct any problems early enough, just in case. After getting everything working, it wouldn't start up again....I noticed a wire not attached to anything, when I found where it went...fireolace worked but wouldn't shut off....tried the remote...NOTHING! I found your video...it was the simple on/off switch for the pilot...Bingo! Great video and thank you for saving me an unwanted call.
10:15pm(est) Thursday December 21, 2023 Good Evening I Knew about the Battery Box and the Remote Needing Batteries. But What I Did Not Know, is that My Igniter had 1-Triple (AAA) Battery. Once I Replaced it, I had a Flame Once Again. Watching Your Video, Made Me Mindful of ALL of the Batteries, that Have to be Replaced. I’ve had my Fireplace Insert for Over 15 Years and Have Never Replaced the Igniter Battery. Thanks katchupwoman
Thank you so much! I didn't know about the battery box inside the fireplace. That was it. After months of thinking I needed to call the fireplace guys again, you solved it in less than 3 minutes. Appreciate it!
Hey man it was .bad batteries in black box. Not controller. Know one said crap at business. They want service call or new unit. You saved my ass. Thanks ten fold,!!!!
Thank you!! We have a completely different brand of fireplace and remote. Somehow I got it going with switches under the pilot, but no remote function. That part where you said 'Off gives control back to the remote' - that's all it needed!!
Good, simple video. But, we had already changed the batteries in the remote AND in the little box inside, and we re-did the "learn" feature, too. The fireplace will turn on if I manually move the little box's switch from "remote" to "on," so we know the fireplace is OK. There's another battery for the "igniter" inside the control box for the fireplace, and we changed that, as well. The remote still does not turn on the fireplace, though. I'm stuck!
I hope you can get it figured out! Worst case you can replace the remote and control box and it will definitely fix the issue: ruclips.net/video/HAErM92jVh4/видео.htmlsi=Uzkm3CT07C5a_NYa
That was quick. Many thanks. Had already replaced the batteries on both devices. Switch was not set in middle. Was to far right on learn. Problem solved. Like the thermo mode.
Replaced batteries in both remote and receiver inside as well, still not working, when I turn the receiver on fireplace works, when I put in remote mode, it’s not workin, I am not hearing the beep when I press remote even though remote screen is on with all the modes appearing, ? May be remote sync problems? Thanks
Skytech two button remote. Changed battery and have red LED light on remote. Changed the 4 AA in the box. It will turn on the fireplace when I switch it to "on" mode however, I cannot get it to sync in "remote" mode. I have it in "remote" and I press "learn" and hear the beep... when I press buttons on my two-button remote nothing happens except the LED indicator illuminates. I even tried holding "learn" on the box for 15 seconds to wipe the memory and re-learn the remote but that doesn't work either. Any Ideas?
The on/off/remote control on the gas logs fell apart when I changed the batteries. It cannot be fixed and is on the off position. Is there anyway I can remove the remote assembly from the gas logs so to operate manually?
Dang I didn’t know the receiver had batteries. Thought my remote was the problem but it just turned out that the receiver needed new batteries. Thanks man!
Correct, the thermocouple sends a heat frequency to your computer unit. You may need a new one. I'm not an expert past cleaning and fixing the dirty issue. Please let me know what works out for you
My receiver does NOT have a “learn” button to press. I changed all batteries so, what do I do now? I have not found one video showing a box without that button.
@@katherinedebiec1909 weird I see what you mean. All instructions for that box show that it should have a learn button. I'm sure you did already, but double check. Have you moved the on/off switch recently?
@@BtwilliasGarage I followed all the instructions I've seen on RUclips and you show the same information. I did move the on/off switch. The remote has a "set" key that I've pointed towards the receiver and pushed but, still nothing happens.
My problem: I hit the on button and the fireplace starts like 3 minutes later or more. Batteries are good. The receiver is AC not battery. Now when I press the bypass switch, come on instantly. Why the delay when I use the remote? What’s my problem, anyone know?
Mine was the red on off, switch on firplace. Other videos never mentioned it. Thank you very much. My first time doing it. Luckily I remembered both have batteries, and to replace.
I went through the battery change and it still didn't work. I found online that I needed to go through a "learn" sequence to make the receiver listen to the transmitter. When the batteries are changed, this learning sequence was necessary. Then it worked again.
After watching this video (and wasting two minutes of my life in the process), I have officially decided that common sense is no longer a thing in the United States. What on Earth? Thanks for the video, but I have enough common sense to check all of the batteries first.
I can never understand why someone would insult a guy who’s making free videos to help people. If you have the common sense you claim, let’s have a look at your content.
Thank you. Batteries were fine but that pesky switch got me. I really appreciate videos like this.
Thanks for the comment! Glad to help
My hero for the day! 67 year old woman fixes her own gas fireplace with your help!

I had no idea there was a box inside the fireplace that needed batteries... so glad I found your video, thank you!
Problem fixed! Thanks! I didn’t know about the batteries in the receiver.
I'm with all the rest, didn't know there was a battery box inside the fireplace. It took me 2 1/2 minutes to fix. Well done, and thank you!
You save me $300 because of a switch. Thank you very much.

Lifesaver. I copied your wiring placements and that gosh darn switch at the end. Worked immediately. Thank you

Great job it was batteries 🔋
When I replace the batteries in the box near the logs it works for a couple of times and then quits. Do I need to use special batteries?
No they should be fine unless your batteries are old. Did you also replace the remote batteries?
Batteries for us. Thank you!!
Mine was the switch. Thanks!!!
Niceee
My fireplace won't shut off when the temperature is way higher than my target. Is there any fix?
You will need to make adjustments to the sensor I assume. Whether that be placement preprogramming is TBD

When I press the ON button on the remote it takes like 2 minutes to ignite. I checked the transmitter box and it’s hard wired, no batteries. P

where do i find out about the 'learn' sequence. Batteries didn't fix mine. :(
For crying out loud I thought this was going to be an actual technical diagnosis you got anything else besides changing the batteries?
