  • 18 months after setting up a very productive mock scrape & licking branch on New York public land, Andrew was finally able to benefit from his preseason preparations. The buck followed the playbook perfectly allowing this hunt to be captured on both a game camera and a GoPro 360.

Nicely done. Love these Higher Elevations guy's. No blaring music or foul language, the way it should be.

Thanks Mark! ... It's all about respect as far as I'm concerned.

Hey, that eight pointer looked thicker bodied than the first one you took from the ground near the road. Also, great location, perfect morning with an inherited tree stand already in place. Love those late season hunts that work out.

Yeah that was an awesome hunt. He read the script perfectly... Dressed out at 129lbs. Looked bigger on the ground but they always do.

Nice work, I have a mock scrape vine waiting for me in upstate this year.

Thanks! ... GrizzlyStik Overkill Maasai. Did a hell of a job. Zipped right through and dug in the ground, as you see. First year using them.

Not trying to blow up your spot on this platform. Without being too specific- Is this Putnam county? It looks a lot like an area I used to hunt 20 years ago.

Yes it is! Seems like there used to be a decent amount of hunting in this area a few years back. I've noticed a lot of abandoned treestands... Though, the herd now is in rough shape due to EHD and the drought this year.

@@HigherElevations sorry to hear that. I grew up not far from the bridge and that whole area was loaded with deer and turkeys. Guess I took for granted just how good the hunting and fishing were in southern New York. I hope this exchange doesn't increase the competition for you, but it doesn't look like this video got much traffic. Good luck with the upcoming season. You guys make great videos and I hope to see more from you in the future!

Thanks! Yeah I'm not too worried because unfortunately deer numbers are low and other hunters will quickly get discouraged. It was great a few years ago but not currently... We'll be filming a lot this year and always plan to make more videos. Thanks for watching, stay tuned and best of luck this year!

@@HigherElevations Thanks. I tagged a pronghorn buck two weeks ago so big game hunting for me is finished for this year. Quite different from what you guys are used to.
