My mother used to work for United Airlines here in the states and I would sometimes fly on her buddy pass and when doing so, I would usually fly first class. Bare in mind this was 20 years ago and on domestic flights so you sat in a large reclining chair and the service was the best including free wine. It was cool but sometimes inconvenient so usually I just paid for my own flights and flew economy.
