He’s didn’t even say how much he paid. He mentioned how much a generic reservation would cost. AMEX points redemption doesn’t say how much he had to pay in credit card expenses so accrue that many points. Also, he just brushed aside how he had a multi-city itinerary, so the entire “price” category was wholly irrelevant. Not transparent at all.

I did this flight in Business class from Newark EWR to Singapore and from Singapore back to EWR. Highly recommend it and it did not feel like 18 hours… in fact I did not want to get off. A few tips:
    - Try to buy the Business class ticket with credit card points with Singapore Airlines as a transfer partner
    - Flying out of Newark, you can use United’s Polaris lounge which is fantastic
    - Use Book the Cook prior to your flight to select dishes you want to eat (more selections than choices in the flight)
    - When flying back to the States, make sure to spend time in Singapore’s Business class lounge

I’m fascinated by the logistical challenges.
    1. How does Singapore staff this flight? Are there rotating FA’s?
    2. Meals- with a la carte meals available, how do they know which meals to stock? At least “book the cook” helps them in this regard.
My oldest brother lives in Maui and my younger brother in Sydney. I live in Miami and always break up the flights to visit them , as I would rather sleep in a comfortable hotel than get just 4-5 hours of fitful sleep on a jet. I’d rather dine in a cozy restaurant than have airplane meals.
Plus breaking up a very long trip reduces jet lag.
And I do travel business class for all international travel.

In 1999, I spent 22 hours on a 747. Yes, there was a fuel stop for an hour where other people connectd to it, but after having gotten off the plane at the stop in the other direction, I wasn't about to make that mistake again. Gate agents and security in Singapore assumed you were suspicious if you reboarded your flight without baggage. Anyway, Brisbane-Singapore-London. 7+1+14 hours. Westbound, we went over Moscow, while eastbound we went over Iran. I'm OK with a direct flight with one stop, on a super long flight. Burning more fuel to carry more fuel to burn more fuel later, while carrying fewer passengers on a huge plane just to do that, just doesn't make sense beyond a certain point. I'm not saying I'd never take a 16 or 18 hour flight, but I'm far more likely to accept a bargain on two legs than go out of my way for a super long nonstop. Preferably direct, but even a connection is not the end of the world, and can give you a bit of exercise, maybe some different food in the terminal, maybe a real rest room, maybe meet some interesting people. I can spend 18 hours in bed at home, no need to do it on a plane.

Great video as always, Jeb & Suzanne. I was very fortunate to get SQ24 in business class from SIN to JFK on a steal of a point redemption deal last October. To make it even better I was able to switch to bulkhead seat 19A at check in. Row 19 does not have that awkward footwell restriction making it by far the roomiest location on the aircraft. They are bassinet seats and are therefore blocked from pre-booking until check-in. I recommend checking in early to try to get this row. That said, there is always a risk that there will be an infant in a bassinet nearby so remember to pack your earplugs.

I have found that when I travel to other countries it helps to not go to sleep right away. I try to go out for a walk or something.
When I flew to Dubai (from Miami non-stop), I arrived at night. I’d slept well in the Emirates Business Class but decided that once I’d checked into my hotel, I went straight out for a walk. Definitely helped.
I’ve done the same things for Switzerland and Czechia.

I can't imagine being on a flight this long even in business class! I've heard so many good things about Singapore Airlines, though! Thanks for bringing us along. Always fun to watch a Jeb and Suzanne video! I'd love to stay at the TWA sometime even for just a day visit! :-) Ahh, JFK T4, it's so fun to go from B to A gates or vice-versa...

My girlfriend and I took this flight on our way to Phuket. On the way out it was 19hrs and gotta say after 12hrs or so it became as struggle. But the staff were nice and friendly. Enjoyed a couple chats with them and it helped break up the flight. On the way back it was about 17.5hrs and that somehow felt like a breeze. Can't wait for Project Sunrise!

I took the non-stop, 14-hour flight from San Francisco to Sydney on a Boeing 747SP in 1989. I loved flying back then and the trip was epic for me, too. I had jetlag the entire 5 days I was in Sydney. Thanks for this story.

I was also surprized by how routine this flight is made. No special announcement, no goodies or certificates.
Bottomline this flight is a good reflection of Singapore : Streamlined, efficient, and making the extraordinary seem ordinary !

I think for a flight like this 1st class and to have that bed, is the only way; you need to stretch out. What a privilege to fly that way. Jeb, you never seem to lose your sense of adventure and fun when you fly.

My longest flight was, according to flightaware, 9 hours and 28 minutes on a 777-200er, and I loved it! First time I slept on a plane, let alone in economy. I could maybe double that, but i would definitely need that premium economy

I have flown non-stop r/t between Atlanta and Dubai about 50 times, mostly on Delta. It is usually a 15 hour flight but often is 16 hours heading westbound (against the Jet Stream). Doing the trip in Business Class is a pleasure as it lets you have a great dinner, sleep nine (9!) hours (lie flat seat), and have a great breakfast before arrival. Doing the trip in Economy is like being in a electric chair for 16 hours but without the electricity.
The flights also featured a mid-flight snack but I usually slept through it.

I really like that premium economy is the cheapest class on this trip, cos it makes sense for how long it is! I flew Premium Economy on the flight to EWR and from JFK back and it was really nice, didn’t feel like 18h/19h at all. Book the Cook is AWESOME.
