Taking my mother in late September and staying in Flagstaff. This video was very informational, especially about taking the buses in Scion and in the canyon. I bought a National Park annual pass earlier this year, wonder if it'll work for everyone in my party (3) or just me.

@@NorthernVikingExplorer I did what I should have done first: visit the NPS website. From the site:
A pass is your ticket to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites. Each pass covers entrance fees at national parks and national wildlife refuges as well as standard amenity fees (day use fees) at national forests and grasslands, and at lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A pass covers entrance, standard amenity fees and day use fees for a driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle at per vehicle fee areas (or up to four adults at sites that charge per person). Children age 15 or under are admitted free.

IF you want to enjoy the Grand Canyon, go to the NORTH RIM! When my wife and I planned our trip to the North Rim, we rented a very nice cabin and brought our own food. Things on either side are pricy. We went in the fall(Sept. as I recall) BEAUTIFUL! Fall Colors were gorgious! I felt like we almost had the place to ourselves. It can get cold, so a
    good jacket is a must.
We've been to the South Rim numerous times, taking THE TRAIN from Williams. Staying in Williams(for at least a day is a must Lots of accommodations at every price. Some good resturants too! Get your kicks on Route 66, but save some time for Flagstaff AND SEDONA! Sedona is a must on any trip to the area(Advance Planning is Necessary as it is EXPENSIVE)! We live in Arizona, so it's a bit easier for us. ENJOY THE TRIP!

    Tip # 12
The S.Rim the Canyon is at 7000'
    So
it's easy for those who don't live at altitude to quickly overexert themselves
    Tip # 13
There are many days when weather conditions make the Inner Canyon invisible from the Rims
    So
It's really important for a visitor to allocate more than one day to see the Canyon
    Tip # 14
My favorite view of the Canyon is from Lipan Point
    So
If a visitor doesn't take East Rim Drive ( SR 64) out to Desert View they've missed some of the best views on the S.Rim
