The South Rim has a lot more activities, but the West Rim is nice as well. It is relatively close to Las Vegas, which makes for a nice day trip out of the city 😀
I flew with you in 2012 from Las Vegas. Not sure what rim it was. We landed and got a shuttle to what was like a western film set. A guy did amazing card tricks. We then went by shuttle to the Skywalk which was breathtaking. I also remember fly over Hoover Dam. We certainly had a fantastic time and can thoroughly recommend Maverick Helicopters.
When I first heard North rim and South rim.i thought you guys meant north of grand canyon end and south canyon was way down the bottom end of grand canyon hundreds of miles away.
We apologize for the confusion, June. This article written by Grand Canyon National Park Trips has a great map that you can refer to: www.mygrandcanyonpark.com/park/places/park-access-overview/. We hope this helps! 😀
I'm definetly not an expert (considering I'm from Australia for starters) Ive been to the South rim once and the west rim once. The south rim is amazing, it is also very crowded, too many humans for my liking, defeats the purpose of going almost. The commercialisation of the place is mind blowing. But there are many lookouts to choose from and if you do a bit of walking you can sometimes find a quiet place to sit on a rock and really let the view soak in. The west rim was very disappointing, I drove from Needles and by the time I got there it was mid-late afternoon and very quickly realised you cannot see a single part of the canyon unless you pay the $65 (?) for the shuttle bus to even see the canyon. very clever marketing, I thought the people of the areas number one priority was protecting their land, but maybe its number 2 or 3? I always wondered why the skywalk was built at the west rim, miles and miles away from the south rim, now I guess l know why. I realise the skywalk would have been incredibly expensive to build, and totally understand charging for that experience though.
Im glad I read your comment because we've been debating on which part to drive to this weekend (from our home in Vegas). Now to choose between north and south rim.
@@samyvik2888 To be honest, I dont know? I wasnt paying the $$$$ that late in the day to get on a shuttle bus full of humans (it was the start of covid too) to only have a quick look, I like to take my time with stuff like that. I would maybe go again if I could spend most of the day to actually see the canyon and skywalk. But I was pretty umm "browned-off" at the whole tourist -trap thing, I ended up taking the drive to "South Cove?" I think which was pretty good, boring in comparison to what I had planned on seeing, obviously. They are definetly 2 different areas as people say, West is just that, as in the wild west. Dry, desolate, rocky, still very scenic (from what I did see) and south is a much higher altitude with forests, grass, deer etc. My mate who was with me was very disappointed to see a big camping grounds where he camped last time near the rim is now a bigger visitor centre and car park, but thats what we are doing to this planet I guess? From all reports if you dont want the crowds go to the north rim, but that is a long way there and back
The Skywalk is a unique experience as it gives you an unobstructed view of the iconic Eagle Rock formation and the canyon floor from 4,000 above. You can also witness great views of the West Rim from other locations such as Guano Point. As far as whether the trip to the South Rim is worth it is totally up to you! The South Rim landscape contains more green in comparison to the West Rim and provides a variety of activities such as hiking and walking trails, museums, mule rides, and of course, helicopter tours over remote areas such as the North Rim.
I am thinking of making a trip closer to Christmas - I hear that West Rim route is usually free of snow chain needs compared to South Rim. Hence leaning on West rim. Is that a right assumption?
@@samyvik2888 That will be a nice trip! and your assumption is correct. Katie C was thinking the same interesting video but I find it centered around her more than the actual topic. It clear with the make up, the hair, her exaturated Facial expressions. I’m planning to go next week and I’m still confused. Just a tip lower the music and don’t put those annoying sounds for every time anything written comes up. Way too animated. Concentrated more on the actual topic, speak slower, leave the pictures for longer than 5 sec. and show less of yourself( nothing bad)

Been to the north and south rims. Also hiked to the bottom. I encountered a lady that said Grand Canyon was a figment of Kodak’s imagination, my reply was for a figment it was a long walk to the bottom. I encouraged her to go there because she had never been there. Dale
I didnt realize It had been ruined by commercialization.. Heartbreaking to see how Mankind had to develop it into a cheesy tourist trap. Mule rides ,train rides, parking lots, RVparks, buildings gift shops.... Is it all quarantined off from public access so your Forced to go where they dictate?? I wanted to see it in its Natural state..
James Douglas Yes I was just there today and I was wishing that it was kept a little more sacred. They should make it a “No talking Zone” it was hard to sit and focus on the view with all the people in the background 😫
Hi James, the parts we mentioned in the video are just some of the most easily accessible areas of the Grand Canyon for those who are looking for a more guided and informational experience-these areas make up a very small part of the canyon overall. They're also ideal for those who may not have as much time in their visit. You may be glad to hear there are actually more remote and natural parts of the canyon than not! 🙂For those looking for that kind of experience, there are many great trails to hike. And of course, to see as much of its natural state as possible, a helicopter does a great job at showing parts virtually inaccessible by ground 😉
West rim is commercial junk and developed for quick trip of vegas guys . A person has a to pay 100$ to visit and also has lot of restrictions is something which I don’t like !! South rim is the best and what Grand Canyon is !!! Basically you see the opposite . From south Rim trials you see north rim... On any given Day I will always go to South rim and second choice is North rim .!!!

It's one of the Seven Natural Wonders, yes. The others include Paricutin, Mount Everest, Harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Victoria Falls, and the Great Barrier Reef!
@@Maverickhelicopters Ive heard of the Taj Mahal in India, the Pyramids in Mexico, and Machu picho in Peru but never any of those? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 im very confused now,
@@teresamyers6992 Yes, those are the 7 wonders. There's also the 7 Natural Wonders, where Grand Canyon is on the list :)
Very informative and straight to the point.
Thank you for your feedback, glad we could help!
Hi , I am very unsteady on my feet and find it difficult getting into vehicles , is there a step to get into the helicopter
Hi Terry! There is a step that helps you get into the helicopter. If you would need additional assistance, just let our staff know and we would be happy to help! We'd love to have you. 🚁
🤣that was one of my concerns too let alone getting into my suv!
Great info but I want to see more of the canyon your talking about, rather than the speaker. You're pretty but I'm trying to decide what to expect to see at the Grand canyon. Seeing that for more than 2 seconds per picture is needed.
Katie C Hello, I am coming back from the Grand Canyon now and will be doing a review with video and pictures soon!
Hi Katie! Thank you for your feedback, we will definitely take note of it for future videos. In the meanwhile, if you'd like to see more footage of the rims, check out this more in-depth video playlist we have on the canyon: ruclips.net/p/PLjFkhRP0MpoMNJJ72D4yO7W1F0ZiMOedN
We also have a little South Rim (GC National Park) video here: ruclips.net/video/tGhzV9NxKuc/видео.html
SOooo this is more about seeing You than what you’re talking about .
We hope you got some good information out of the video 😅
East Rim is the best, no way to drive there, one must hike. Permit needed for overnight stay.
Oh wow. People don't really talk about the East Rim. This is good information!
So what’s in the middle of the west rim and south rim?
Amelia southwest rim
A lot more of the grand Canyon, but a lot of it is uninhabited and really hard to get to.
The west rim is nothing compared to the magnificence of the south rim
Both have their perks. South Rim is a lot bigger though. West Rim is a lot easier to get to coming from Las Vegas! 🤔
But is 6 hours from las vegas, is it?, we are a little short on time do you recommend the west better than the south?, Can I ask you a question, if you go from las vegas in a rented car, where do you park to go to those places?, you have to take another van even if you go in car?, and least, if a helicopter is the option, how is the process?, isnt it just as long as going in car because you need to get to where the helicopter is and all that?
The north rim
Been to the north and south rims. Also hiked to the bottom.
I encountered a lady that said Grand Canyon was a figment of Kodak’s imagination, my reply was for a figment it was a long walk to the bottom. I encouraged her to go there because she had never been there.
Dale
That's awesome! We bet the hike was stunning. ☺
Its called the NORTH rim ...
Its not ruined by commercialization.
North Rim ?
@@joannpolidori7379yes, it is.
I like her
Thanks 😁
West rim is commercial junk and developed for quick trip of vegas guys . A person has a to pay 100$ to visit and also has lot of restrictions is something which I don’t like !!
South rim is the best and what Grand Canyon is !!!
Basically you see the opposite . From south Rim trials you see north rim...
On any given
Day I will always go to
South rim and second choice is
North rim .!!!
We fly over the North Rim as well on our South Rim flights, come see us if you're ever out here. 😎
Cheap ass
We're going to visit in October next from Vegas by bus. Your comment helped me decide to which rim should we visit. Can you recommend any tour operator?
Is there an East Rim? Furthermore, how dumb of a question is that?
they cancelled me twice, no communication and no refound my money, be careful 🐀
Hello Arturo - we are disappointed to learn about your experience and would like to investigate this matter further. Please email your name and reservation number to comments@flymaverick.com.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
It does coast money to do some of the activities, but we think it's well worth it!
please do not after you explain west or south rim do not go back and compare the south , west etc its confusing and also you are talking too fast...! I'm still confused after watching the video...!
we have other videos on the West Rim and South Rim specifically, if you need a deeper explanation of each location. 💖
Do you know that the Grand Canyon was caused by the worldwide flood in Noah's day when God caused it to rain for forty days and forty nights? Genesis 6:17,18
Grand canyon was mined out many many thousand years ago.
@@juneallan4903 Thanks for sharing. The researchers all say that it was created through erosion. After the top layers of rock (green) eroded away, the Colorado River grew powerful and began to cut its way through the ancient rock, leaving the stunning canyon we see today.Feb 26, 2019
@@juneallan4903 Interesting. Have you heard about the marine fossil in the rock layers?
There is NO GOD caused this, you been brainwashed wash by the priest. Most of the priest’s live in Villa home drive expensive cars lot’s of money hidden in bank account, all because the name of God they say. Lol.
Did you see it? How you're so sure about this?
Omg this girl is beautiful
nothing important
Too much looking at this girl's face and not much of the scenic views of the canyon.
Well we hope you got some good information out of the video 🤣
Beautiful eyes and beautiful lips, too.
You are so kind 🤣
So you can’t land on the ground if you fly south rim? 🥲🥲
South rim has a much deeper elevation, making it harder to land in. We do have the ability to land in the West Rim however!
I am going to Vegas next week. Plan to visit the Grand Canyon. Still deciding West vs South. Can't wait!
