I got the Android version, too. I'm a learned 2D/3D digital artist and have a fullsized Wacom tablet as well. But this thing just blows my mind. I write, make a sketch to illustrate and return to writing. In the night I read my graphic novels before sleeping - it's brilliant. I even like the Halo keyboard. After some time you type on it very quickly; I just turned the corrections off, because it is taking up half the screen and I type a lot. I disliked ArtRage and got Sketchup Pro instead (5€) and it is excellent and great fun to work with. Almost a Photoshop for graphic artists (you can do layers/layer modes, paintover photos, have great tools and accurate/fast drawing). I'd be interested in other software too, so I'd definitely watch the video if you make one. I also got Open Office, which works ok, but a better writing software wouldn't be a bad thing. The only thing that surprised me is that the Wacom stylus pens from my tablet don't work with it. I want a thinner pen (like a pencil) with a softer tip. So if you could make a video about options for pens that might also be interesting. I'll probably buy all dat shit :) I love the Yoga and I would buy a bigger version of it when I can afford it. What also drew me to it was the combination of real innovation (Hello Apple!) and a decent price tag.
Damir, this is the first video I saw of yours. I think you did a great job! Honest, and comprehensive and your interest seems very genuine and engaging in the product. Keep it up.
Best review I've ever seen. Started with the product - would have loved an introduction and name. I've just spent the last 48 hours intense research on Tablets for architectural work and this is the one that sold me. I was looking for something that would run Google Sketchup, but now I want to buy the Yoga even if that doesn't work.
Great preview! i watched your review on my Yoga Book. Using it feels like what we imagined the future would be like. it is an amazing little machine. looking forward to your full review
Excellent review, thanks - (it';s now 2019) these models are using the Atom processor which is very energy efficient .. unfortunately it looks like Lenovo changed its strategy with the C390, no more physical paper, which I thought was a great idea. And too bad that Microsoft stopped Windows support for Atom cpu, only security updates till 2023 if I recall correctly. Looking forward to your C390 review if you have the time. Congrats again for a very thoughtful and thorough review.
DT B I know right? I like watching Damir's reviews. It's so thorough and informative. So I search for his first and if there's none, I'll try to find someone else's.
Definitely has the cool factor. One head scratchier, why write and draw on the keyboard pad with the stylus? Isn't it best to just write on the screen? For drawing and editing images it is soooo much more accurate and enjoyable to edit the image direct on the screen versus a pad. I would have preferred two screens / displays that are both touch enabled and capable.
Glad you have problems opening it, too ^^ I think the Chrome "problems" are a driver-issue only. Probably will be solved with some updates. I've also heard the Windows version is louder, which sounds like yet another driver issue.
Very good reveiw of this product. Interesting about the Chrome. I have ordered this Yoga Book and I think it will be the one I use on short travels and take over for my ASUS Flip.
Very informative review :) Keep on good work mate. This is the first Tablet "hybrid" I'm really interested in and your review gives a lot of important information. I, for one, thank You for good and informative review B)
Great video, I was seeing this video cause i just bought a TAB S3 Android with SPEN to be my notebook at school, and i know it will be great cause i come from a NOTE 10.1 i just sold. LENOVO YOGA BOOK PROS It has a keyboard It has Windows 10 And that´s it! CONS It is way better to write on screen than on a paper you could just misaligned easily. The additional weight the fact u dont know where u are writing without paper and ink.
Thank you for the review. I think this product has great potential as a note taking tablet, but I have yet to find a review that takes that into mind. For example, is there any sort of OCR for text written on the pad? If so, does it recognize multiple languages? Most of the reviews try to make comparisons of this product to laptops, which I find unjust. It is really a high end tablet, with the extra convenience of having an extra large tablet style keyboard that does not take up any screen real estate and the added bonus of a large Wacom input. Who writes a thesis on a tablet? If you really need to type something long on it, you can use a bluetooth keyboard as you would with any other tablet.
Here is a VERY important question: Which programs does the stylus and real ink pen works with? Can I write mathematical equations and have my word recognize them and convert them to math equations through its integrated mathematic symbols recognition? Or does the pen work only for notes taking apps or drawing programs?
Thanks for your effort on giving detailed information about this device. My request would be to include the "language" features for the touch keyboard in your more detailed review. I am curious if it can switch between different languages? For example will it show the characters for Greek or Arabic or Russian etc. once we switch the OS language settings? Best Regards...
Spontaneous and thorough review. My question would be about the usage for kids, For example, a kid cannot exchange the ink and stylus cartridge (without losing it). Does the pen require a battery, that is, can I use any pen/stylus? Finally, in folded up configuration it is possible to use write pad AND copy (as shown), but the screen is now on the bottom -- will this scratch the screen? Oh, I hear the typing support is much better under Android (not addressed in this review).
Hi, Damir. Does Lenovo improve after 1 year for the part you've mentioned : regarding to the notes in app, watching youtube, mark something down, and return back to hand writing mode, you could only add 1 new note but could not return to the original one? I am actually feel this device is very good at doing signature or many hand writing related biz. I want to know if I could open scan file and write down my feedback on it or sign the documents on it? Thanks for your sharing. I love it.
Nice job Damir with the presentation, now i want to ask u one question, can we put regular paper on note holder and write on it? The script is digitize from normal paper?
Thank you for the review! The Yoga book has everything I need but how is reading pdfs and epub files on this tablet? The aspect ratio seems a bit awkward if I was going to use it for reading science textbooks extensively.
***** The fact that you can get it with windows makes it a Surface 3 competitor. I really liked that device for the build quality. I am not liking that this has a plastic build. I need a small device like this for note taking and small productivity task. I also like that it has LTE built in! Can't wait for your review man. Good stuff.
***** You are probably right it has a slower processor than the Surface 3. I am not a big atom fan right now. Maybe android will help that situation? It's underpowered for Windows.
got to be aimed at students like me can you try doing some maths on it or writing some stuff down from a video lecture. word is impossible for science and maths students its why i am looking at this
best review ever ...total satisfaction . only one query left what is the dimension of the notepad as compared to A4 size paper and is there's palm rejection on the screen with stylus . thanks a lot . i think my hunt best note taking device is over
Great work in the video. Just one more question, would it be possible to use a HDD on the Yoga? i would want to manage photos and videos form external storage devices
Hey, your review is detailed but I still have a question. Can you use the stylus for handwriting into a Google doc? I like to write by hand but would like to convert the handwriting to typed text. thanks in advance
Hi Franc, Thank you for your detailed review. The tablet is very interesting. I wonder if it works for students. Situation: a student get some maths worksheets(in jpeg format) for his teacher and the student is reading it on the yogabook. he wants to write the answers directly on the worksheet and save it as jpeg format. can he? thank you
Great review, I'm a lefty too. I noticed that you can use any paper to write and the pen is a normal pen, so can i use a normal pen to write on a normal paper if I laid it on that halo keyboard? just wondering! thanks
Hi, I love your review. Unfortunately, I just found out about lenovo yogabook earlier and just come to your review. If you ever see this comment, if you don't mind, does it still work until now? Like, I want to bought it (if still available) but I am doubting the keyboard. I'm afraid that days after buying it, it will not be touchable. Thank you.
Thanks for the excellent review! I do have another question, though. How well does the create pad work with apps that don't specifically support the pad? I read in another review, that in OneNote the scribbling will only appear once you lift the real pen from the pad, not during writing. Is that true? Is it possible to use the real pen (on the create pad) like a finger in any app (sacrificing pressure sensitivity), or does nothing happen at all if the app does not support the pad? I am mostly interested in using the android version to annotate documents in Xodo (PDF) and Bookary/Mantano (Epub). Thanks for any feedback!
Great video!!!! I'm a college student looking for a tablet to replace all my paper notebooks. I am seriously considering buying the android version of the yoga book but I have some questions. How does OneNote behave with the tablet? Is the Lenovo note taking app any good for organizing multiple notes for differents classes? Can you access and edit notes through another computer on the Lenovo note taking app? Can the tablet be used as a Wacom digitizer for your desktop? I can't help but notice how smooth the bottom is. Does the yoga book slide around on the table while in "type" mode? Can you turn off the trackpad on the halo keyboard? Can you have a pdf open and the write on a notes app (OneNote) at the same time? Thanks for your time.
Damir Franc I was acutely going to type some questions of my own, but David cover ask the basics. I would just add for you to check how the windowed apps work (multitasking).
I had to wonder android vs windows on this but after looking at the feature list of art rage (windows) versus art rage (android), windows version has lots of things you can do that android just can't, like filters, noise brushes, brush tilt, unlimited canvas size, a bunch of very useful features. So I think in general you'll have more powerful apps on the windows version. Maybe for simple / basic use android is ok but I went with windows so i can do some basic coding on it too.
Hi Damir, I had a quick question. Please let me know- Does your Yoga Book has 4300mAh battery? Through battery apps like CPU Z, it shows me 4300mAh instead of 8500mAh. What could be the reason? Thank you
I'm looking to get the android version for school. I'm not the best or fastest at typing and I prefer to write my notes. But I like that I still have the option of typing. I really just need something that can run word and PowerPoint and do homework. Which version do you think I'd be better off with?
excellent video. in window version there is some 3D stuf creation app, is it there in the android version, i mean the app for creating 3D objects in android version?
Great review Damir. I have a question regarding the Halo keyboard (I know it does not support non latin character set) , Is it possible to call other language keyboard on the screen (like any other tablet)? Thnks
Damir you should have tried to install some more or less heavy app and see how it goes using it, hard to say about performance when you open just browser and drawing app
Damir Franc Raw Mg is quite susceptible to corrosion as it readily forms Magnesiumoxide (white powder). Look at a pencil sharpener or firestarter (of the Magnesium Block type). Of course this alloy will be less prone to this thanks to the added Al but the aluminium content will be rather low i suspect. In fact, cellphones often use a inner Mg frame for structural support, i have seen those corrode, especially in presence of other metals i.e steel screws that introduce local current flow in the presence of an electrolyte like water. All that said, it mostly looks dull. The Alloy used in Microsoft Surface Tabs and Book is the first halfway presentable Mg-Alloy i have ever seen used in a consumer product. (Ask LG why they laquered the G5's back in a thick coat as well :)
Damir Franc Totally agree on that! However, if not for the premium touch, i do prefer metal for the added rigidity / robustness. I would have prefered a Ti version for 200$ more :)
I'm considering buying yoga book A12 as I'm a writer but I personally like a laptop type keyboard with the press feel. Will this keyboard give me the same feeling?
nice review! quick question - is it possible to use the pen / handwriting option on any PDF file? since i want to use it for university class to go paper free. maybe evernote is needed or any other program (app), any ideas?
there is an option. you can use "xodo" it is free in the appstore and allows you to add notes also via pen (must be enabled in the options). acutaly this app is very very nice you should take a look.
Hi Damir, in other reviews I saw that the keyboard backlight was blue, your is white, can you change it or were the blue light ones pre-production models?
are you saying that each new piece of paper is saved as a different note? I'd like to see how sending several pages of notes via regular email would work. I usually end up scanning or taking pics. of notes to share. Is this really any different than one pic per page which requires a whole lot of attachments? I'd like to take as many pages of notes as needed and be able to save them as complete sessions. Then be able to pick up whereI left off and continue. This would really mimic real life note taking and sharing. I'd also like handwriting recognition to type out my chicken scratch into printed text. Is there an app for that?
Can you load an existing document and digitally write on this. I know it is easily done on an empty page. Often I have forms to fill with hand which are already preprinted. Appreciate your advise
I know I'm super late to the party but, as someone who has owned many yoga tablets, the crackling is not from your sound source. Every model I have owned crackles when you have atmos on and are above about 25% volume. The other aspects of the tablets more than make up for it in my eyes and I'm watching your review to help decide between another yoga and a samsung with s-pen for note taking in school. That said, people should be aware that the crackling sound is a known lenovo problem and they seem to have no intention of fixing it. If you want great sound on your tablet, nothing in the yoga line is going to be your cup of tea.
so, im looking for one of these yoga books for college but im not sure whether to get the windows or android one, im taking a graphics design course, so windows would be good as i could use adobe programs, but i like the android version but i dont know if you can download office 365 on it or adobe? what should i get?
MRGadget's Gaming you can get windows on the android version but not 365 only the mobile version and it costs more to my knowledge of your a college student I recommend windows however if you want a more powerful devise for gaming get the android
I guess it has split screen view. However, I am curious as to which apps are compatible with it. For instance, can it open a word processing app on one side and a spreadsheet or browser on the other side? This might be a laptop replacement device on the go for me.
***** Thank you so much for the reply. It would be great to see that in your review. Looks like I might opt for the windows version then. Looking forward to your review. Keep up the great work!
How come this guy doesn't have more subscribers. His reviews are so consistently detailed and useful.
Abhijeet Singh thumbs up for Germans.
And down for Indians :-P
just kidding
Yes, but his arms are very hairy.
He doesn’t talk about specs
Much better than the shallow, initial impression videos that have millions of views and subscribers - don't know why...

this is much better than those reviews with a ton of flashy camera work but not much in the way of useful user feedback. fantastic work keep it up.

You are really good. I have just bought this device today and I found your review and instructions very helpful

why other reviews have 25k views and you have 1k? your reviews are better and more usefull
Why do we have to script videos? We aren't writing a drama or something
hey everyone just share this video

I liked this review a lot and I do own my fantastic Yoga Book Android for many months now and it got updated to Android N 7.1.1

First time I have seen a satisfying review
Yooo this is sweet. I cant even imagine that big yoga book
Great review!!! Was looking for a decent one like this for so long! Cheers mate!
Glad you have problems opening it, too ^^
I think the Chrome "problems" are a driver-issue only. Probably will be solved with some updates. I've also heard the Windows version is louder, which sounds like yet another driver issue.
Tap twice on cover, like knocking on a door it opens by itself....
Very good reveiw of this product. Interesting about the Chrome. I have ordered this Yoga Book and I think it will be the one I use on short travels and take over for my ASUS Flip.
I love when companies innovate

I personally think that this device is very helpful for students....
Impressive device.
Simply Better why would you say that
Very informative review :) Keep on good work mate. This is the first Tablet "hybrid" I'm really interested in and your review gives a lot of important information. I, for one, thank You for good and informative review B)
21:10 is a great suggestion for the maker (Lenovo) to fix. Great that you mentionted this.
thank you. it actually helped me know the yoga book better.
Awesome video, thanks. Answered a lot of questions. Would love to see the windows version covered!
I'll be sure to check back, keep up the good work!
Great video, I was seeing this video cause i just bought a TAB S3 Android with SPEN to be my notebook at school, and i know it will be great cause i come from a NOTE 10.1 i just sold.
LENOVO YOGA BOOK PROS
It has a keyboard
It has Windows 10
And that´s it!
CONS
It is way better to write on screen than on a paper you could just misaligned easily.

Which programs does the stylus and real ink pen works with?
Can I write mathematical equations and have my word recognize them and convert them to math equations through its integrated mathematic symbols recognition?
Or does the pen work only for notes taking apps or drawing programs?
when using the pen, you can see a circular cursor on the screen. basically you can use the pen as a mouse
Great review Damir! Very helpful.
Very Nice..
Very good Video maybe this will be my Christmas Present 👍🏻
Christmas present for 500 dollars?! Your family is rich
Wow today is chirstmas
The way of review is very nice ! i really like
I didn't know this exist. This is like a better surface pro. XD because it's Lenovo. Who doesn't love lenovo
Thanks for the great review.
How do you access the SD card? I cannot find a way to open the tray. Thanks!
This is such an interesting device!
very meticulous review. The most detailed I've seen.
Brilliantly detailed! thanks
Very nice review! looking forward to have my own piece ;) thanks for helping with my decision.

Thank you for the video and its really helpful info on this product... one question: is there a popup key board in the screen besides the key board?
I really like this! What do you think of using some lined paper to take notes digitally only? I don't really need the physical copy...
Thanks for the info 👍🏻 Great vid btw :)
Nice job Damir with the presentation, now i want to ask u one question, can we put regular paper on note holder and write on it? The script is digitize from normal paper?

I'm considering buying yoga book A12 as I'm a writer but I personally like a laptop type keyboard with the press feel. Will this keyboard give me the same feeling?
Get windows, expand storage, get any paper...easy fixes, makes it better:)
Great review, I have a question over here. Can i use a normal pen on paper instead of the inked tip and still register in the note app?
Chern Yang nope. doesn't work. sorry
Aw it would be perfect for me if normal pen could work too. Thanks for the info btw
I thought it detects the metallic tip instead of the stylus. I could see quite some hassle buying an ink replacement.
I see, thanks for the info
great review!
Is there any convenient way of erasing something on the tablet as well as on the paper? Otherwise, are there any other options with this ability?
nice review! quick question - is it possible to use the pen / handwriting option on any PDF file? since i want to use it for university class to go paper free. maybe evernote is needed or any other program (app), any ideas?
there is an option. you can use "xodo" it is free in the appstore and allows you to add notes also via pen (must be enabled in the options). acutaly this app is very very nice you should take a look.
Thanks, I have a question, is Photoshop and illustrator work well in this device??
Hi Damir, in other reviews I saw that the keyboard backlight was blue, your is white, can you change it or were the blue light ones pre-production models?
I believe windows version and android version have different backlight colours. I am quite interested in getting both versions!
are you saying that each new piece of paper is saved as a different note?
4 minutes in and it looks like a sasquatch is doing a very nice review.
Hows the handwriting experience in comparison to the surface pro 2017 and surface book 2?
So, we should buy paper separately from time to time?
I know I'm super late to the party but, as someone who has owned many yoga tablets, the crackling is not from your sound source. Every model I have owned crackles when you have atmos on and are above about 25% volume. The other aspects of the tablets more than make up for it in my eyes and I'm watching your review to help decide between another yoga and a samsung with s-pen for note taking in school. That said, people should be aware that the crackling sound is a known lenovo problem and they seem to have no intention of fixing it. If you want great sound on your tablet, nothing in the yoga line is going to be your cup of tea.
I have a Lenovo yoga and I go on it most of the time
so, im looking for one of these yoga books for college but im not sure whether to get the windows or android one, im taking a graphics design course, so windows would be good as i could use adobe programs, but i like the android version but i dont know if you can download office 365 on it or adobe? what should i get?
Damir Franc oh ok thanks, now I just have to find the money to buy the damn thing
wait.... windows version performance is weaker than android? Is it atleast possible to install both systems and use them side by side?
MRGadget's Gaming windows version its much better for school and college
MRGadget's Gaming Windows for professional use
MRGadget's Gaming you can get windows on the android version but not 365 only the mobile version and it costs more to my knowledge of your a college student I recommend windows however if you want a more powerful devise for gaming get the android
Can I write papers using Google Docs and then download as a Word document like I'm able to do on a Chromebook?
Questions :
1. Can you Use another Stylus?
2. Can you write using a normal ink pen on the paper and still shows up on the screen?
no and no
Actually yes and yes.
Can one use an alternative pen-tip, i.e. is it compatible with regular pen-tips, for example "Parker" pen tips?
Perfect tablet for left handers
Can you draw or use the stylist when the laptop is in tablet form?
can i use external hard drive with this device? and how?
Great!
I guess it has split screen view. However, I am curious as to which apps are compatible with it. For instance, can it open a word processing app on one side and a spreadsheet or browser on the other side? This might be a laptop replacement device on the go for me.

Thank you so much for the reply. It would be great to see that in your review. Looks like I might opt for the windows version then. Looking forward to your review. Keep up the great work!
