AS A MOD, i fucking hate it. you're exactly right when you said that it doesn't fit the setting, even if you awkwardly shoehorn casavir as a vigiliant of stendarr. just, the rampant misogyny is so... out of place. i'm not saying there's no misogyny in skyrim, but considering how women are treated as capable enough to do anything a man can within the game (i.e. hold positions of power, become mercenaries, fight in the military, hunt, own businesses, etc...) the fact that bishop (and some of the other men, from what i can tell) views women with the classic misogynistic perspective of "women are weak and dainty and inferior to men and need men to protect them" doesnt even fit in with the established culture. the writing is also terrible, obviously, bc (like you said) as the player character you're mainly just standing there watching two of the most boring, smooth-skinned, whitebread males (who look almost completely identical apart from their hair) argue over who gets to fuck you. THAT BEING SAID when this mod is paired with Mickey's Dick Smasher the Lore Friendly Khajiit, i cannot get enough. when one of the boys is like "SHE'S MORE WOMAN THAN YOU CAN HANDLE" and the camera switches over to MDSTLFK being like |°_°| i literally hurt myself laughing.
yeah thats the thing thats been getting me bc like. a complaint ive always had about TES is how theres supposedly relative gender equality but theres consistently fewer women in most positions but like. there still is at least SUPPOSED to be gender equality. in at least the console games i literally dont know if theres any dialogue that suggests that women are seen as weaker than men. so its so PAINFULLY out of place to play a game where everyone treats your female character normally and then the modded dudes stick out like a sore thumb bc theyre like Hello my delicate wilting flower , can i perchance have your hand at the Barbie Royal Ball? you may be an absurdly powerful mortal with a dragons soul but im a Big Strongboy so i know what you need better than you do
Like if there was some weird specific monk or paladin order of Stendarr (he seems to attract the zealots) than maaaybeee it would make slight sense (or about as much sense as the TES clumsy lore tends to have), but the lack of explanation is just lazy and nonsensical.
What I hate the most about Casavir is that he's written so that Bishop is *right* about him! I can smell the redditor fedora through the gamecapture. Edit: also, I kind of disagree with your point on him seeming like a queercoded Christian "redemption." He seems to display another Christian-ish archetype of the "preachy predator" à la Judge Frollo. A veneer of righteousness barely containing some pretty alarming sexual urges.
i just kind of dont understand why this mod exists.... like u said its not elder scrolls at all so i dont understand why the devs didnt just like make a dating sim? 😭 wouldnt it be easier too since it wouldnt require as much game scripting or even voice acting
Well if it helps, there's something called flower girls adventures for the men or Bi or gay women too...and you get better choices than bishop...MUCH better choices
I don’t know if this explains anything, but these two characters (Bishop and Casavir) are likely lifted sort of wholesale from Neverwinter Nights 2, which is Forgotten Realms/D&D-verse. Full disclosure: I have never played it (but am considering it at some point), but there are two companions in that game with the same names and basically the same personalities from what I can tell. I figure this is why they don’t fit so well in the TES universe. Thanks for sharing these videos! Your Khajiit is amazing and I love them, btw
@@kenaidip2504 Interesting! I'll admit I'm not too familiar with the drama surrounding the mod, but I'm glad that other ppl noticed the plagiarism as well!
yea this is true, foulserpent hit the nail on the head by saying they think it's smth sexual--casavir in neverwinter nights had like, a weird relationship with some lady despite his vows and then murdered his love rival and was exiled for it. he and bishop actively hate one another in nwn2 from what i read (havent gotten to play it myself but i wanted to see where the plagiarism was sourced from). the writers of the mod kind of seem like they copy nwn2 entirely at first and then as they added updates, tried to retcon it a bit? but barely retconned it enough.
I know it's been years, but Casavir in Neverwinter Nights 2 does indeed spend the night with you and you don't have to convince him to do it, when you romance him. I mean it's a very tasteful fade to black and when you wake up he is in his full suit of armor again, but it's not at all that he has some vows to consider. He is in his 30s, has a life and ambitions of his own, his entire life is not turned on it's head because your character shows up. The romance isn't super passionate, but he is not a creeper at all.
RUclips started recommending me the overviews on romance mod. Maybe because it's supposed to be "girls" content. This feels so good to kill all those guys, better than any dark brotherhood quests. I felt same about Ann NPCs, they triggered me so I really enjoyed making them zombies or rip off their damn heads and flood everything with litters of modded blood and guts. And especially that mod which makes corpses exploding. Such mods give a vibe of Oblibion Dark Brotherhood where you hate most of the targets for kill, or just don't feel anything, especially after purification of the Cheydinghall sanctuary. Especially that massacre you created in the ballroom, it was good. I'd even make an add-on same style as Oblivion quest where you slaughter everyone in the house. Or make an add-on for Thalmor embassy where you can murder everyone at the party, especially that Maven. Why? Because more blood for the god of blood

not gonna lie, i thought this guy was named caviar at first
They have a literal goddess of love and sex why in the name of sanity is he so hung up on his vows of chastity. Is that even a thing?
To my knowledge chastity is not a requirement for priesthood in Nord culture.

"I made a vow of chastity" Stendar "who said you had to do that"
bishop makes me uncomfortable on sooooo many different levels.

Your character is the best part of this whole experience.

Likely? The mod author got in some hot water for blatantly plagiarising from NWN2. And other issues, but yeah.

You make me smile and feel a bit more whole.
I finished my water bottle five minutes in. Thanks for speed running my hydration
love this analysis SM
