    I finally understand what Chloe means about making our anger “expensive.” My grandmother tried to bait me into an argument the other day and I didn’t get angry, I remained calm, I listened to my intuition and left the room. She didn’t even know how to react.

      @Alessandra Gabbana That's the thing is not everyone is the prize. It's good to see yourself as worthy but the "I am the prize" has been overly used at this point that it sounds cliche, narcissistic or egotistical. I'm not trying to contradict myself however there is a difference from seeing yourself as worthy but being humble versus being arrogant. When men and women use that phrase, I often question their sense of humility and self awareness.
      Many people who say "I am the prize" are usually people who can never old themselves accountable, blame everyone else for everything, and think they have no faults or flaws of their own. In reality, it couldn't be further more from the truth.

    One key thing that I learnt through my feminine journey is PEOPLE WILL TREAT YOU HOW YOU TREAT YOURSELF. If you hold yourself in high regard, trust me, people will feel it. You don't need to tell them, they will know it and treat you accordingly. Some will try and push your boundaries and it is your job to maintain those boundaries. If at the start of a relationship you have set certain standards, don't bend them in the relationship because once you do, you've opened the door for more to be broken. Simple example; is if its not in the laundry basket, its not getting washed. I dont care if its was touching the laundry basket, half way in...I'm not washing it. My husband took a few weeks to get it but after lots of unwashed laundry he realised I wasn't playing. Women tend to mellow and become accomodating as we get comfortable in the relationship, don't. If you talked that date night should be dress up and high end restaurants, don't compromise. Go to the local restaurants on other days but not date night. It might sound exhausting but its better than the treatment you get being low maintenance 🙄

  • @BeautifulDreamerK

    When my husband and I started dating, all his female cousins hated me. I told a colleague at that time and she said, “it’s bc you’re feminine. You AND your husband are career people but your husband still takes care of you despite the fact that you can take care of yourself.” One factor all these female cousins had? They all had masculine energy and were the ones with careers and breadwinners. Their husbands either had random jobs or no job at all. I really didn’t know this was something other women think about , it’s wild.

    • @BeautifulDreamerK
      @BeautifulDreamerK 3 года назад

      @summer glow I don’t know if this might be the case of hating on feminine energy too but his MIL is weird about this. I asked my husband for a peloton for my bday - it came down in price last year and I was able to do some overtime where it could help with the payment. It’s also good to keep the quarantine weight away (no gyms were open yet) and it was motivating for my husband- he’s soo good at spin! For some reason, my MIL ONLY refers to our bike as “HIS bike”, even though it’s MY birthday gift. I work out all the time but I’m super low key, whereas he loves talking about it. She knows it’s OURS but only refers to it as his bike and his classes... I’m out of the equation. Not to be petty but it makes me feel annoyed, especially bc it’s my birthday gift. I don’t need praise from his mom and he’s told her it was “ours” but 🤷🏻‍♀️

      I think part of the problem is for some of them, they don't think about it, it comes on a subconscious level. Their pschy is protecting them form the realization that they lied to themselves about what they wanted, and now their whole lives are based on that lie, or were brainwashed into a masculine role,

      @@BeautifulDreamerK Either let it go, or if you are curious do a test, find a way to let her know everytime you use it and see how she reacts, it will be very telling. Personally I would let it go knowing that I use it for me not her, and who cares what she thinks, it seems your husband has a spine and spoke up on your behalf -as a true protector would. If there are other things she does that bother you then you'll have to look deeper into it. You don't want a MIL that is actively looking to sabotage your relationship. I once stumbled on to a support group for people who had MILs like that, and there is a clear pattern of theses types of toxic MILs

    Once again, Chloe, thank you for such an excellent presentation! This 52 year-old white woman going through a very difficult divorce after 30+ years of marriage (and raising 9 children) is challenged and inspired by your words. I'm writing your points down to refer to--because I think they're worthy in and of themselves, for women to apply to their lives, period. I used to get frustrated thinking the husbands should *know* better. But my pastor would say, "YOU need to teach him. YOU need to say no." And I'd think: Huh? What? They're grown men and can control themselves. Why is everything on the woman? But no one is benefited from a woman giving in, and going against her inner voice. Every time we give in to what doesn't feel right or prudent to "keep the peace", we lose our confidence--which, trust me, negatively affects us and our self-worth (and our children's) in the end.

    Chloe_, you touched on something really important: the fact that one of the primary goals of destroying a woman's self-esteem is to make her easier to exploit. When you're unable to recognize your own value or worth, it's far easier for an undeserving person to tap into your inner and outer wealth without giving you anything of value in return.
    IMHO, being able to recognize this strategy is not only important to avoid being exploited in relationships, but also to avoid being exploited in the world at large. Every where we turn, we are likely to encounter sociopathic types who want to dupe us into believing that who we are or what we have has far less value than it truly does so that they can obtain the benefit of it more cheaply. Whether it's other races or genders who want you to believe you are for some reason inferior, or buyers who want to lowball the value of what you're trying to sell, its important to have your own well-defined sense of value so no one else can succeed in projecting theirs on to you.

    I look at my last situation as a example. I had no business dating him although he was a nice guy. He chipped away at my self esteem the whole time until I didn’t even think I was worth any more than what he was offering. I’m so glad I’ve always had “extra reserves” of confidence and ego stored away because I needed it to walk away. Once I walked I could tell by his expectations and the things he said that this is what we as black women have been allowing from low value men and it made me so sad. Smh. I look at him now with his boring conversation, unattractive average appearance and emotional unintelligence and I get mad at myself all over. Like I said very nice guy but had zero business over here. I’ve decided to do the work on myself so that I will never accept nor will a man like that feel confident enough to approach me.

    Hey Chole, I believe a man should treat a woman with care. Not all men think like this. Also every woman should tell a man what she wants and doesn’t. I don’t really believe it is teaching a man but communicating with him. If he is reciprocal he will understand.

    I believe it's both. Men are not mind readers yet they pick up on clues on how to interact with women based on what does/not allow. They also need consistent feedback.
    I have come to realize that a lot of us weren't taught how to treat ourselves properly so treating someone else with care is a foreign concept. Also, we weren't taught boundaries so how can we know what they are and when they've been crossed? The very people in our own households under the guise of rearing us violated our boundaries consistently. Some more than others. These things are being learned & re-learned as we interact with other people daily. There's predators out there looking for the weak to devour and conquer them. This is why community is important. So you can have a safe place to learn, make mistakes, ask questions, and strengthen your resolve.

    This was one of your best videos. Seems like ever since black women started promoting self love, femininity, and marriage with men who are heterosexual/masculine confident, financially, & spiritually secured this somehow offends effeminate men like Kevin Samuels and women as you identified as masculinas/some black women who co-sign his false narrative. Your quote the other day was so inspiring and I plan on making a painting using your words: The wounds are not your fault, the healing is your responsibility. I’m reading “Getting to ‘I Do’ by Sandra Harmon recommended a couple of videos back. I didn’t realize how masculine I was acting even though I’m naturally feminine. Chole and Sandra are heaven sent!
