    I have owned and FRS and a 350z and driven an 370z. Two different experience. 370z is better but the FRS is more practical.

    370z with bolt ons and a tune can make around 315-330 WHP. About 3-5 grand depending on USD/Cad and where you get your parts or new/used. After that to bring HP up on NA, will take fuel mods, and starts to get very expensive to make more power. You will have to go supercharger or twin turbo setup, which will make around 415-600 WHP on stock internals. Although you're looking at $15-20 grand to go FI.

    I have a 13 370z Sport & have driven an FRS. The 86/BRZ is better in weight, handling and steering feel. The 370z however destroys it statistically in almost every way. In reality though, on the streets, 370z is in a different class.

    370z oil temps are an issue, so you do have to be willing to invest in a proper oil cooler depending upon where you live and how you plan to use it; With that being said, at 90k miles, mine uses ZERO oil....

    As a Z owner they’re super reliable and can be modded to basically any configuration.
    From simple bolt ons all the way to turbo or supercharger applications there is a huuuuge aftermarket for these cars.
    Plus they’re cheap af to buy! Pretty great

  • @GixxerRider1991
    @GixxerRider1991 Год назад +1

    It's hard to compare the two. The 86 is a really fun car and a good, practical daily driver, but it's out of its depth trying to compete with a purpose-built race machine like the Z. It comes down to raw power. Not only does the 370's engine have two more cylinders and more displacement, but it also has a variable valve lift intake cam and an insanely strong bottom end that can easily take 500 whp with no need to modify the stock internals.

    Okay so im 16 and not necessarily looking for a Z or BRZ/86/FRS as a first car but def in the near future, does anyone have experience with either having one of these from early on and if so what is like the price for repairs (cheap or expensive) that i or someone else could expect?

    • @BuildingWithSean
      @BuildingWithSean  2 года назад +2

      I bought a stock FRS back in 2017. Wheels, coilovers, exhaust and whatnot made it a pretty fun little daily. After wrecking that car on a wet mountain road, I bought a BRZ and turbo’d it. The turbo absolutely brought it to life and I could beat most other 350’s and 370’s up a mountain. The problem with boosting the FA20 is that the internals itself are relatively weak, and the engine is prone to pre-detonation. Spun a rod bearing at redline, and now I’m engine swapping it with a turbo, Honda K24.
      As for your question on cost of repairs, I would say the 350/370z is going to be easier on the wallet. More shops know how to work on a standard V6 vs a boxer-4. Head gasket replacements on boxer engines are not uncommon, and getting at the spark plugs is a real pain in the a$$. The BRZ/FRS also uses 8 injectors (for both port and direct injection), so if you want to upsize you’ll need 8 vs the standard 4. Just a couple of things to think about in your research 👍🏼

    Of course 370 better more expensive looking car and better overall power, but at the end of the day you should just get what you like if you can afford it. Personally I like the g37 over 370z , luxury look over sports look.

    Personally I like my frs look way better. Sleek luxury and sporty look. If you upgrade the exhaust you can be content with it. But the 370z hp is respectable and puts in class to be compared to Camaros and challengers and increases it’s potential to gain that 1k hp ! Drifting in a brz I noticed isn’t easy due to that lack of power and you feel it! Trust me. It’s all looks
