- Why Did OutKast Break Up?
An Andre 3000 solo album has been the discussion of OutKast fans for the past 6 years or more. OutKast never officially broke up it was presented more as a hiatus and they still never speak negatively about each other whenever they are interviewed which is rarely.
However, Big Boi has released two solo albums and the only time we've ever seen Andre 3000 doing music is when he's featured on songs by other rappers. He's never promised to do an album or even mentioned it so why is it that people continue to expect it to happen?

It’s best to stop when you’re loved and admired. It was strategic.
We're still talking about them to this day
That's more than strategy I think, cause they always act like real upstanding guys when he comes to carry the torch, and respect the Art in his pure from..
In fact with the last album they doesn't gone at their best!
I think for Andre 3000 is all about challenge more than protect the golden aura of Outkast.
We all speculating, but we never know if tomorrow, 3000 find again this fever.. And that's really possible!
I think also 3stacks
can't stand this "Mediacracy" who everything like nothing is related, judged and commented so fast..
Cause Music industry can really fuck up the simple joy to be an artist
@Ysn Carri you don’t speak for me😂 but I can see where you’re coming from the majority of our generation don’t listen to Jay-Z on a daily basis (except for maybe Big Pimpin)
its like donald glover ending his show atlanta on the highest point. strategic as you said
Andre already said he don’t wanna be a 40 year old rapper

I do believe Andre 3k is slightly better artist than Big Boi.But he didn't carry the duo,big boi as a rapper is as good as 3k..Well Big boi is actually underrated in my opinion
Boy andre an big boi are equals ying and yang but big boi actually has single albums unlike andre
GroovyBearTV Listeners Have To Relisten To Those Old Outkast Songs. Back Then Big Boi Did The Most Guest Verses On Other Projects And Gets Busy
I've always like Daddy Fat Sacks more than Three Stacks. His style is more street and his flow/schemes/metaphors were craaaazy. Andre's voice was too nasal to me. He was good for a deep quotable or two and his flow got better as the years went on, but Sir Lucious Left-foot was bananas out the gate.
They still sounded good together regardless who was better.
I mean in a technical way if you're the strongest link, your carrying the others. I guess if you can define "carrying" as being glue rather then saying that like there was no contribution at all. I like big boi but I don't like his songwriting. I like his ability and persona. The love below alone had like 20+ songs and they all bang for different reasons. I didn't hear boomaverse, but with the 2 other projects mentioned, I liked a small amount of songs from each one and with those combined its still less dope songs than the love below(and I don't get how a solo project isn't solo just because it was released in joint with another solo). My point being, he has more of the elements of a artist, making Andre more well rounded(but its still an opinion)
andre 3000 had his own cartoon based around music which is super fuckin cool .
It was. Class of 3000 was the shit.

Ex-fucking-actly! I keep telling folks. Thank you!
Bo Knows Yeah...but considering André’s side of the album had only one feature from Big Boi, had pretty much all production done by 3 Stacks himself + was a unique reflection of his own artistic aims seperate from his previous Kast stuff, then it’s a bit silly when you’re making a video essay about OutKast to completely ignore the fact The Love Below exists and is - apart from the context of it being released under the OutKast name - content-wise a full length André solo album.
It’s clear he didn’t mention TLB or OutKast’s biggest hit Hey Ya being a solo André song because he didn’t want it to ruin his point of André not proving himself
I think its better at this point for Andre’s career to not release a solo album. The pressure is too damn high
He fucking sucks and lost it, he himself said he's too old to be a rapper, pussying out and shit. Big Boi basically was probably the reason they decide to keep making albums.
Murk don’t do him like that Andre 3k still dropping hot ass features here and there so he def still got it just saying that he not out here tryna be like all these old niggas for example Eminem who is the most talented rapper but past his prime

That Speakerbox/LoveBelow Was A Double Album Kinda Like Solo Albums To Each. Each Had More Creative Control On The Disks. Big Boi’s Speakerboxx And 3k’s The Love Below
The younger generation needs to get hip to Andre, they'll know where most these rappers get there dress code from, an hes one of the Goats..

Exactly. We’ve got an André 3000 album anyway with The Love Below. So yeah I want another album, but if it doesn’t happen I won’t be too upset because he’s already got a classic album that proved himself as a solo artist
He dropped music since this lol

I grew up on Outkast. I have them neck and neck with Tribe Called Quest.
The love below was kinda a solo album how dare you say Andre needs to prove himself
They never broke up they are still together some people just want something to talk about, Andre is helping his son Seven with his career and Big Boi is supporting his oldest son with his college football career get ya facts straight bro
You called him weird ‘cause he does what he wants?
Im sure he meant it in a unique way... Not an insult he even said
Stop it with the Andre doesn't wanna make music no more. NO. Andre doesn't want to PERFORM NO MORE. Thats the thing at the same time Andre himself doesn't believe he has anything to offer to the new generation of rap fans because he really believe he has nothing really to say as a 40+ year old man. Thats from Him and Big Boi. Outkast didnt break they still together. They never said they broke up... Outkast is still Outkast. Also Big Boi 2nd album is good. And Boomiverse is GREAT. Cater to a new audience? No that Big Boi being Big Boi... if you know about Outkast they don't do the same thing every album. Big Boi 3 albums have a different sound...
Jay Anderson FACTS
Literally. And boomiverse is very good to me. I love that album
You said everything i was gonna say 👏🏽
Factz 💯
On another note you are right about the big boi and Andre 3k comparisons. People seem to disrespect big boi when it comes to the two and idk why.
sk8kidize Exactly. Though their styles of rapping are somewhat different, they are still equally good. Like flour and water making that slow dough.
It’s because of Hey Ya + Andre’s marriage to Erykah Badu + him having better features on other outside songs + his general fashion sense and experimental-ness.
It’s a similar thing with Q-Tip getting all the love in A Tribe Called Quest. Or Pharrell > Chad Hugo in The Neptunes
I never saw someone trashing Big Boi's name when they say 3K is better so idk where this whole "disrespect" thing came from. There will always be comparisons when you're in a duo / group
Damn that breaks my heart but they’ve made many classics already so we just enjoy what they’ve put out over the years.. really miss them together👌🏽
I wanna know why Big Boi is not as revered as Andre 3000. Andre 3000 is not the best without Big Boi
I mean, that's the opinion of the people. They think 3k is better
@@JO-oc3ne which he is. His flow is different.
I'm the only one whose favorite is Big Boi.
Big Boi can't write a full length with strong songs. I think he is good at rapping, but not at consistent and compelling songwriting. I don't think he has much stylistic range either.
I'll say like this Andre 3000 is a very unique artist in music history not just hop hop. I'm glad to grow up in a generation where the early 2000s still had some talented rappers. Here is why i think Andre is more than just a great Rapper or Actor. Andre 3000 was one of the first rappers to be a successful singer as well as Rapper which is rare talent that most rappers or singers can't do. 3k also can at least play 5 different instruments from bass, to Guitar, Saxophone, Keyboard, Drum Machine if it counts to you, Cello, Bass Clarinet. So Andre 3000 not only can sing or rap or write his own lyrics he is one of the few hip hop artists who knows how to play an instrument or write his own music that's another inflated talent now due to an era change. Most def, 2 pac, Andre 3000, Flavor Flav, all of these rappers played at least 1 instrument while the majority of other hip hop artists where just mic MCs.
In my honest opinion, I think these guys have to be considered somewhere in top 10 rappers of all time. I mean, they put a WHOLE city on the map. Not only that, but after that they influenced Atlanta to make more rap music. Atlanta rap is all over the top charts right now and has been for years. Back then, the west coast and east coast (NY) was influencing Atlanta and now Atlanta is influencing everyone else. Literally everything we hear today in rap music has southern roots or southern sounds that Atlanta created. Without OutKast, we wouldn’t have Gunna, Young Thug, Future, T.I, Ludacris, and many more. These guys were truly the pioneers of the south.
Of course, never underestimate Big Boi. The man is a Hardcore MC. 3000 could make a solo album anytime he wanted too and it would be fantastic. Dude is a special artist. I think he got tired of the industry and really, really enjoys a slower pace in life. Good video my man!
My fave Andre feature , Kelis - Millionaire
16 ain't enough.
@@youngmaryland886 precisely. I cried in the car to that shit
Long Way To Go with Gwen Stefani was classic too
At least 1990s and 2000s babies are listening to OutKast. That’s my biggest takeaway from this. Glad to hear there’s kids out there with a good ear for classic hip hop. And they’re absolutely one of the best groups ever. In any genre.
Naw Andre made two songs on SoundCloud earlier this year.
Yeah. Look Ma no hands.
And Me & My (To Bury Your Parents)
Ye they were too weird for me though so I forgot they existed. cool songs but I don’t spend +15 minutes listening to an André song lol
Another outkast video. They changed the game especially in the South.
Big Boi my preferred MC personally his rhymes schemes were just sick
People forget how fire his verses were. He might have a couple of verses of the year out there.
I think Dre got bored with rap and also I believe he's a man of many talents and wanted to express them. Not only those reasons....he felt the same way that Jordan did when he retired. He's done all that he set out to do and was ready to hang it up for good despite what others thought about it and no it didn't mean he wasn't still cool with Big boi. Obviously they are still cool and still very close. Sometimes you just gotta call it quits
Speakerboxx/the love below is basically an andre 3000 album
The Love Below is by far the MOST UNDERRATED album of all time. I remember the first time I heard it and I was like I can't believe Outkast made this bs. But as I kept listening to it, The Love Below is a classic for music lovers. Andre 3000 has a wide range of musical styles and tastes that are above par. I still listen to the The Love Below today. Favorite 2 tracks are "She Lives In My Lap" and "Prototype"
The Love Below isn't underrated at all.
I agree. It didn’t get as much love back when it was originally released as it does now. I loved The Love Below
In a podcast with Rick Rubin and Andre that came out a year ago. Andre actually opened up about his music making process and explains that it’s hard for him to find that same drive he used to have with OutKast, and to get the actual music to where he wants it to be. So now he tries to not stress about it anymore and just enjoy life. “The brain loves to find problems”
Outkast literally did everything they sought out to do. They broke barriers, and shocked both fans, and critics to the point that the only way they could be more shocking was to make a heavy metal song which isn't their thing, and so they bowed out at the top of their game without a word.
We'll all miss that southernplayalisticaddilacmuzik these guys gave us. One of, quite possibly the best Hip-Hop duo to ever step up to the mic.
I thought the love below was Andres solo project and big boi had speakerbox
Like you said, Big Boi proved himself. But it's sad that a lot of us felt like he had to
I think Andre just wanted to branch out and do things beyond just hip hop. He's actually starred in several movies 😎
I think he was able to get to a point of his life where he was able to explore those other avenues he's always wanted to pursue and the money along with the connections he was able to make from his music success, made those other dreams a reality.
Because he was successful in music, he was able to meet big time Hollywood movie directors, A list Actor and big name fashion designers in Europe and Italy.
And now he's able to pursue those other dreams and passions he had outside of rap music. Cause now he doesn't have to prove himself to anybody. He could just be free 💕
Outkast had some of the chemistry in Hip Hop. I wish we would see a new album from them but I doubt it.Speaking of Outkast, who in here remembers Class Of 300. That show was my childhood.
Earthgang is the next modern OutKast. And I know you saw this comment too so checkout EARTHGANG !!!

"Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors" is an incredible album by Big Boi. Very experimental.
What is the album.....about?...Vicious Lies....or dangerous....rumors?
...
it's time for a new era of hip hop, which is why you are seeing all the old school hip hop artists step away from the limelight, which is what 3K spoke on in their song "Funkin Around"
Andre has nothing left to prove. He's fire and so is Big boi FOH
Speakerboxxx & The Love Below were technically solo albums.
Simply one of the best rap groups ever
Sir lucious left foot is probally the second best album of 2010
The Love Below is a modern masterpiece.
04:39 Absolute truth.
Liberation will always be my all time favorite from them dudes! "...cackling, helping the shackling of your brethren happen, just by rapping, Libritar..."
I think that's the best part that they're still friends no bad blood between boys
They never broke up. They had a lot of projects going. But OutKast are still together
Let them enjoy life. Thet got nothing to prove. They walked away while being at the top. Just hearing big boi say that both of them are trying to get back to the friendship that they both had before music is all I needed to hear.
3000 said when he started to work on a solo project he made a few songs but he is afraid they don't live up to what he expects from himself and this fear snowballed into writers block and he's lost interest in making music all together.
Andre 3000 did release an EP. It was called Look Ma No Hands. It was only 2 songs (but the title track is like 17 minutes long jazz song)
I think they may have stopped making music together because after making music as a group for so long they needed a break from each other workwise.
I think who is better is interesting, because different people tend to be drawn to on or the other. Andre may get more credit form the hipsters and Big Boi more street cred but I think they both played equal roles Outkast but I think because Andre may have had more creative looks people may have credit him more to their unique sound then they should have.
I think Andre just wanted to go out on top like Jay said he would and didn’t back up. Andre did though and he can still stay relevant with a superb feature every once in a while that he can put his mind to temporarily.
I think you are spot on...
It is irresponsible to say OutKast broke up. Obviously not a real fan.
They toured the country a about 3 years ago. They still hang out all the time. They gave us a lifetime of classics. Go back and listen to that shit. Its still jammin.
Keep it up brotha
At this point they are OG's of the game!! ATL Superbowl halftime show would be an epic come back!!
Because the forces of evil in the industry wanted to maybe break them apart but there love for each other and true brotherhood kept them focused and humble not to off eachother for fame or money..smart guys great artist
They both contributed equally even though 3k is more creative as far as trying new things. (Not just his clothes but creating music)
Urm let me stop u right there I think your forgetting love below was Andre and speakerboxx was big boi..
If I'm correct hey ya Roses prototype n so forth did numbers so please do not discredit the one solo effort we had from 3000 😑 good points tho 👍🏽
And Andre half sold more
Agreed. He just left that out to try make his point which was a bit lousy and pretty biased. But yeah, The Love Below is André’s solo album which did well critically and commercially + is an influential classic too. So I disagree this dude saying André’s never proven himself.
Him making Hey Ya was proof. Nobody can discredit Hey Ya 🤷♂️
@@KaizerBeatz-vf9wf I agree 🙏🏾
Andre actually does have his own solo album, The Love Below. It was released as a double disc set with Big Bois Speakerboxxx due to creative differences. It has Big Boo on one verse out of the whole album I think that’s pretty solo enough.
They both explain it in "Idlewild"where they've already split creatively. That whole album is them on separate tracks. "Chronomentrophobia" is the fear of what 3k always knew. Nothing lasts forever. Saxx follows up with "The Train" where he claims his self reliance. (Dope track of empowerment) It's him owning his #2 status because after all, there was no Mike without Scottie, no Pimp without Bun, Ball without G, yadi yadi yadi. Dookie rounds it out with Life is a Musical. "Don't let em change us." When corporate interest overtakes art stopped the fun for Dre. Very Chappelle like. The superbowl is a great example of this. DF fa life.
Nothing last forever and they’ve evolved but the main thing is they’re still close beyond the music. How many groups cans say that.
There doesn't need to be an other Album. OutKast is a Timeless classic!!
I would love to get a new Outkast album with guest appearances by Goodie Mob, Killer Mike, T.I. and new school cats like Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$ and Vince Staples.
The love below and speakerboxxx were somewhat solo albums, most of the songs on love below were made by Andre himself, having bigboi on roses and some other guests. In my opinion Andre more than proved himself as an amazing musician in the amazing piece of work love below.
Andre who? ...It's not two thousand nine hundred and ninety nine. It's not three thousand and one...
It really sucks because when they release speakerboxx love below which is the number one selling hip hop album of all time, I felt like they were just starting to scratch the surface that's what they could really do with their potential they were transcending Hip Hop.
Vicious Lies n Dangerous Rumors is definitely a speaker slapper... Good album
If you go listen to Sorry by T.I., Andre stated that he hated the attention of being famous so he chose to steer away from it. He never cared about the money at all. He even stated that he hope he didn’t lose fans from doing that as well but he just didn’t really like the attention
I regretfully missed the whole outkast wave😢 heard it was a good time for music though. Salute.
Andre should never have to prove himself. This man is a lyrical genius.

I forgot the name of the song or what album it came from but Andre gives a reason for why he stepped away. I was a big fan of 'Kast but I couldn't get into Idlewild.
