Why Andre 3000 Sabotaged His Career (On Purpose)

- Across generations and various waves of the genre, a fine line has existed between becoming a legend and ending up as a shadow of your former self. Taken from performing to seas of people in arenas to the diminishing returns of the nostalgia circuit, there’s a case to be made for your reputation in hip-hop coming down to whether or not you outstay your welcome. But while some of the game’s biggest rappers have tried to stand in defiance of the clock and occasionally stumbled as a result, today’s story is that of a man who has chosen to hold any dreams of reclaiming his spot at a safe distance and has basically done the unthinkable in some people’s eyes.
Of course, we’re talking about the one, the only, Andre 3000. Ask anyone in hip-hop circles about Andre Benjamin, better known by the name of Outkast’s Andre 3000, and you’re more than likely to hear them discuss his position among the greatest to ever grasp a mic. From Travis Scott to Future and Childish Gambino, his influence and the respect that he commands is more universal than practically anyone still breathing.

As great as Andre 3000 is I feel like Big Boi gets criminally underrated
i was just thinking the same thing!
Straight up.

@have a nice day 🌈 just got bakerolled💀
Absolutely Boi is underrated 🎩
He did what many rappers don't do: he matured.
Like who? Most from his era has. You don’t see to many still in the street or talking about street situations. Bun b, master p, Scarface, snoop, ti, jeezy, ludacris (his atl peers)

I like his attitude. He never sold out,he refuses to turn into a parody of himself, and he quit at the top of his game.
He'll always be a legend of hip hop, there's no taking that from him and he's not about to throw it away.
Well said.. he quite gracefully and respectfully. How u should do..
They aren't even close to being at a level to pass judgement on him lol
When they have achieved his level of success, I'll listen to their opinions on his legacy, until then, they're chirping little birds jealous of what he has done Brendan
@@Jess-737 I was never a Madonna fan, she just annoys me for some reason.
Cher isn't as bad as people make her out to be, but I do believe artists only have a limited number of great songs in them, and she has probably exceeded it by now?
"He never sold out" LOL. Dude is the definition of a sell out. Just look at Hey Ya or Roses xD
Youth is key to the legacy, but old geezers doing music they loved is a bit corny but respectable.
As I go into my 30s, Andre said something real I’ve realized lately. Which is you can’t match the energy of the youth once you’re past a certain age. Anything replicated is seen through quickly.
Iron maiden would tell you otherwise
Bruh chill he's talking bout like 40's at least you're being a downer
Well I agree with you but we have artist like Drake who's loved by 15 year olds and younger today. Maturity is the factor and Drake, has not matured.

To hear 3 Stacks... one of the greatest artists of all time... say he lost his confidence... when one verse from this man is better than 90% of albums these days... is both insane and so sad.
It’s crazy smh
Yeah well, he gotta live up to that everytime too. It's not easy making dope music when you ain't have inspiration amd there's that past greatness lurking.
@@rosalind1635 I disagree. This man has NEVER made a wack verse or song. Even long after the popularity of Outkast. His verse on Donda last year was so good it almost broke the internet. Every feature he does is fire. It's not easy for mortals to make dope music but for a man as gifted as 3K, he can do it in his sleep. That kind of talent doesn't go away. He just has psychological issues that are getting in the way. And thats what makes it sad.
maybe he isnt confident that he could exceed his previous stupidly High standards and doesn't want too let no one down
@@hamish375beatz6 Yeah, that's what I mean. He'd prolly never drop a wack verse even on his worst day - objectively speaking - but they gotta live up to his o w n standards. And for sure even 3 stacks has times when the creative juices just ain't flowing.
If Andre dropped an album right now, I'm sure that people would definitely listen.
It took Dr. Dre 16 years to drop an album after 2001, & the hype didn't die out between the time.
He never will though. He said his confidence isn’t there.
Dr. Dre still kept himself busy managing his own record company, signing other artists and producing and doing guest features on their albums. He’s stayed busy over the years.
*Hiphopmadness exaggerates. He never "sabotaged" his career* 🤣
*This guy makes the most clickbaiting titles*
Dre is not comparable to Andre. Dr Dre stayed relevant by producing for many artists in that interim period. He was engineering #1 albums that entire time for different artists.
Huge fan of Andre but his features and verses over the years have not helped him maintain relevance in the same light as Dre.
@@loto7197 André’s rap name was originally Dre before he changed it to André 3000, people got him mixed up with Dr. Dre all the time.
3k is beyond a rapper. Man is a straight up artist thru and thru
Very few musicians I would call actual artists, Andre is one of them.
Losing parents totally changes you, like he said he doesn’t know if he dealt with it and sadly even if you do the things you loved before they passed suddenly don’t feel the same or bring you the same joy. That may mean music just isn’t what pulls him to release but it’ll always still be within him and we are here for whatever he decides ❤
Parents are all an only child really has.
Andre 3000 has always been one of my favorite artists! He was hella unique. The voice, the fits, the energy, He could never be forgotten!
Bruh lil Yachty got the exact same voice😒 it's a traditional Atlanta tone a couple people got it
@@merabakerng lil yachty got no bars tho.

Look I understand that he likes to be different or whatever. But dog shit gets annoying that he just won’t do anything
Check out this artist called (Floyd In The Sky). He you can barley tell the difference between him and Andre 3k
Also think of this with Andre, he was doing music since he was 17-30, it’s quite possible he wanted to know more of who he was other than just a man that could rhyme well. Like, it’s like those athletes who by 30 some are confused because their life just revolved around sports for so long and all relationships came from sports and they don’t know who they really are.
Man, honestly if he don’t make music anymore that’s cool. I really hope that brother is in a good space. Like the vid mentioned his parents death has affected him, I remember he did put a song out on Mother’s Day a couple of years ago, it does remind you that holidays like that aren’t happy for everyone.
Also that class of 3000 show was cool, I liked that show
I think the crux of all this is that he understands it’s more than just the music. You nailed it on the head as to where if you are so entrenched in a certain group, you see yourself as only existing in that group. That you can’t expand and grow. Rn Kendrick has taken a long hiatus and he’s been gone for so long, trying to do his own thing and he is having people practically turning on his music saying it wasn’t that good, just because he isn’t dropping a new album on our timetable. Artists are people, and if they don’t wanna be more than just that artist, they are well within their rights to do so.
@@thewriter8762 100% correct they are with their right. If they do not think they have a passion for music right now then do not release. Many of us can tell when it seems forced, and that is likely when some crap comes out.
The wildest part is it seemed in interviews even though the clothing line and tv show were not huge successes (again class of 3000 was a fun show to me), he enjoyed the experiences of trying those projects. It's great too because that is how life is supposed to be, always trying something new whether it is a small as cooking a new dish or starting a new business.
He always trying something different, remember he was acting in a few movies in the 2000s (Four Brothers, Idlewild, Semi-Pro). He's actually a good actor from what I remember. I never saw the Jimi Hendrix movie but I heard his performance was good in that.
Absolutely 💯. He has nothing to prove. I pray he is at peace
And Life Of The Party really hits hard
It’s not rocket science , he’s just bored with music . Let the me be in peace
Class of 3000 was cool, doesn’t matter how many seasons a show is, doesn’t stop it from being a good watch. Hearing he supports open mics and others art, exploring sounds giving different things a go and playing a flute there just for fun, is such a vibe in my mind.
Respect to him for not just churning out music his heart isn’t in. He’s a rare talented artist.
Andre 3k’s legacy is as safe as anybody’s in the game. Dude didn’t sabotage himself, he made sure he didn’t play himself out. Stacks didn’t force a terrible/underwhelming album just because he feels like he needs to put something out.
like drake
Yeah, I wouldn't say that Andre sabotaged his career, he just gracefully bowed out of the spotlight and did his own thing. When you leave while you're hot, the fans will accept you with open arms whenever you do decide to come back.
Agreed. Sabotage is a strong word.
His interview with Rick Rubin is the clearest window you'll get as to who Andre 3000 is as a human being. An immensely talented artist, one of the best of all-time, yet an introverted and shy soul who doesn't feel the same confidence everyone else sees within him which is why well probably never hear another solo album from the guy. It's still "thank you for everything" to him and all of Outkast.
It’s sad cuz it’s an artist’s journey. Immensely talented or unorthodox thinkers can be seen through a lens w of greatness. Look through another and see someone who isn’t good enough. As long as you can determine what voice is the part of you that wants to improve versus the ones that just wanna see you fail, you can be fine. But for people that can’t live with that voice forever, you just gotta stop or else you push yourself off the edge.
I feel he’s like kendrick
i think he could do something that’s outside of hip hop. as you get older you like more chill music. he could combine his newer interests with lyrics that only pertain to himself and although it might not sell well (who sells well anyway) so many people would listen. he’s smart
I’ve got a few years on 3K. The older you get, the societal rules and boundaries seem to become more strict. Like when you were a kid and drew a purple cow with crayons, nobody cared. Do that when you’re older and it’s a problem. Andre needs to do a collab and see what happens. It’ll come to him
Perfectly stated. PERFECT!
I always felt like Andre was this generations Hendrix.
Even Andre's no music is more inspiring that some of the current stuff you hear on the radio.
More like Rick James
@@nellyville69or Prince
Lol funny is that Andre played as Hendrix in a movie about him.
Dude was definitely high on that 70-80s psychedelic vibe.
He's such a talented man. When you can see 3 generations of people light up and sing every word to an artist's songs, that speaks volumes (to me it does anyways)
I don’t see it as “sabotaging” his career, I see it as he had his time and the peak of outkast then felt like it’s not his time anymore, so he did not force it. I love this man and I think he’s a genius. By stopping, he protected his craft and himself too since he’s an introvert and needs to be away from the spotlight and at the same time everyone loves him and respect him.
His feelings and the reality did not match... But either way respect the man's decision
sabotaging = click bait, in this case
He aint sabotage his carrier bro.. man just wants to be happy so let him do him 🤷🏽♂️ nobody wants to be forced to do something that doesn’t interest them anymore. Thats why he filled the void with playing an instrument.
That's jus for clickbait bro he knows that lol it's all good
Technically he right. He could've kept dropping tunes( they'd definately be bangers) but it just wouldn't be what he wanted.
💯💯💯
@@s0ne01 I think he's afraid of making bad music. Being so good only lasts for so long. I wish he was unafraid of making new music. Dude is in his own head all the time but he has to do it his own way.
He had to word it like that to get us to click. Worked for me, but I agree with you
I can relate to this. I once had a creative career, and over time, I found that what I was interested in was no longer what the market wanted. I just didn't have the desire do art that didn't turn me on. Kind of sucks in a way but you just have to find another way to scratch the creative itch.
Well there are people who like that niche thing and want that, we don't want what the market wants. If 90% don't care about it, they don't appreciate art anyway, if there are 10% people who like it, then they are the ones who really appreciate art.
Andre 3000 is still a musical genius! He’s contributed a lot of creativity to hip hop, fashion, beats, etc. However, a new path has opened for him. He may come back as a poet, storyteller or philosopher. Creativity has NO limits and it’s impossible to sabotage a divine gift. He’s still with us but way ahead of our time! I love his spirit, character, energy, and intelligence.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
He strikes me as a deep thinker. Perhaps some insecurities as well. He clearly undervalues what he could still offer to music, in my opinion. I feel like deep thinkers can really be good at being extremely hard on themselves. That can really affect decisions at times. One the best of all time regardless.
That’s also how they produce some of the best, the falls he took in other lines of work were pure passion projects, he wasn’t looking to make “the best” he was looking to do him, if him right now is not a musician people have to accept that
Damn . U right
He didn't wanna sellput
He clearly has a decent bit of White in him.
Well might not be too much insecurity. More so doesn't want to force art for the sake of putting out a record to just hit the billboards. He works off inspiration.
Andre 3000 didn't really sabotage his career tho, he just isn't really interested in being a rapper. It's very sad tho because he's one of the greatest rappers we'll ever see.
Follow-up to my comment 2 years later: Seeing what André 3000 is doing all while following his heart is absolutely extraordinary to watch & analyze. New Blue Sun is such a soothing & peaceful experience as an album.

Him and Big Boi together; something happened in his solo career and he’s just never been the same. They should get back together for an album.
His verse in ‘synthesizer’, off their 3rd album I think if I remember correctly, is not only one of the best verses of all time, but is a crystal ball into the world we are living in today.
That verse has been the bar for me since I heard it. It has rarely been even approached imo

Class of 3000 is what made me want to become a musician. I spent hours playing the show's flash game Funkbox, where you could arrange your own songs, and that gave me a love of making music that's still with me 17 years later.
I have a lot of respect for Andre. Everyone dreams to be successful, but not everyone knows what to do with that success, and end up becoming slaves to it. He made his money from his music career, and then he took that to pursue whatever avenue he felt like.
I think thats way more mature and real then what most celebrities do. They spend all day making money, and just piss it away on parties and lavish lifestyle, but don't take the time to just explore themselves and their interests. He got in touch with himself, and let that guide his own unique path, and that is a beautiful thing.

I was one of those kids whose first exposure to the man was Class of 3000 so his statement on the matter definitely holds water. Andre 3000 is just madly humble and overall such a good person. From the people I heard who worked with him, they said he was a sweet, cool dude, or something along those lines. I honestly feel bad that he’s in a funk and doubts his greatness when it comes to his talent because he really is good a what he does, but at the same time he’s living the best life right now. Oh yes, Class of 3000. A show I didn’t ever forget since it came out. Great series…currently showing some love to it on my channel 😅❤

@6:50 he basically said that what he was good at, he isn't good at anymore because the standard that determines what's good is unrecognizable to him anymore. He sees what's hip and isn't down with it. Bless him for not dumbing down his raps because that's what's hot right now.
The standard that determines what’s good is unrecognizable, fact because wth standards made lil baby the hottest rapper? Fans don’t even know why they think a rapper is good
@@BIGMONEYMEDIA Lil Baby definitely sounds boring to me like I’m surprised his sound is still relevant. Bars don’t have to dominate but sound is what catches me personally so I’m really confused as to what catches people about him.
@@SlickSkuddy his beats and lyrics are easy to digest
@@BIGMONEYMEDIA well that's all because what's "good" is subjective, and as Andre properly pointed out (and what a lot of us old heads refuse to accept) is that music is never stagnant. We all think that when we jumped into music was the best time, both the evolution of what was and definitely better than where it's going...but Andre just accepts that his time as being the pinnacle embodiment of what music values has come and gone. People like dumb catchy lyrics and good hooks and beats now. Lyricism has become a niche, and with intelligent wordplay being the determining factor, Andre is one of the top 5 alive.

Him not doing music anymore is a sign he's a true artist.Hip Hop is a young man's game and it's also very limiting when you get older. It's a paradox, musically hip hop is limitless but in time it becomes very "boxed"

I highly doubt you still read comments on a year old video but let me tell you something. I’m a speech teacher and coach. Speech/informative writing is a big part of what i tech high schoolers. Your writing is incredible. I’ll be using your works to teach my students. The intro sequence alone (not andres words, yours) blew my mind. You have a gift, keep it up!!!!
I hope he takes all the times he needs and find his love for music in very unorthodox way… take you time brotha!🙏🏽
I mean, every Outkast album is essential, iconic, successful and critically acclaimed. The Love Below is essentially his solo within the catalog. Especially for a Southern Group in the 90s in the midst of East/West dominance. Open the Atl gates, classic Features usually out rhyming the main star. With no damper on the Dungeon Family legacy. What more do y’all want from the ATLien?
His verse on Solo (Reprise) basically says everything you need to know about why he dipped. Andre is a legend.
Man, you're good with words and writing. I got captivated in the first minute. Keep it going!
Great Analysis Man. Awesome video. 10/10. Well done.
Andre is that dude that other rappers who don't diss that says lot
There’s really no real reason to diss him. You’d just look like straight up hater/clout chaser lol
He made his mark. We can want the music, but if the man ain't in it, he ain't in it. It stands to reason he said what he did on being "hip". The energy that fueled his efforts for damn near 2 decades was diminished. He had new thoughts and feelings but could not express them in the same way as it is inauthentic. Instead of forcing the issue, he opts not to make the music outside of incredible features from time to time. At the very least, we were not robbed of great music, we were spared from getting mediocre, uninspired music being pushed by his past greatness. He never has to drop another song and he is already one of the greats. His bars are incredibly memorable and will live with those who heard them and he doesn't need to chase a new audience or disappoint the old one.
Class of 3000 was one of my favorite shows as a kid and I still watch it today occasionally on DVD. Hey-Ya was one of the only hip hop songs I could listen to around my parents and so it was pretty enjoyed in the household. It was only until 5 or so years ago that I actually clicked where the "3000" in Class of 3000 came from and from there all the dots started to line up and now I cant help but admire Andres adventurous career regardless of ups and downs and Im glad to see he has kept a positive attitude about it too.
Such a well written script and interesting topic. Thanks for that!
He seems like a perfectionist and really takes pains to make something people would enjoy but that might also be putting much pressure on him that he doesn't feel confident enough to release anything that matches the high of what they did before.
Honestly, I respect Andre a lot more after this, I always respect the man, he really is that icon of rap that really paved the way. But as an artist, I think it's only fair he gets to do him in the way he sees fit. He doesn't fall under the same trap of trying to cling to relevancy but just tries to be him and I want to respect the man's decisions. He has already done a huge body of work and that is enough for me, I just hope Andre finds happiness in whatever he does.
What a guy! Everyone else is always a salesman, and he's being not just honest, but embracing his reality regardless of what it is. I love it!

Man I love Andre 3000, he's very creative and it seems like he just didn't wanna stay in one box anymore, and he wanted to be authentic and try new things. Always loved his different style and uniqueness.
For this man, one of the most unique artists to ever walk this Earth, to say that he has nothing left to offer music in this day of copy pasted plastic music, is just crazy. I have infinite respect for 3000. I respect this man like my father or grandfather. He was one of the people that made me wanna make music. But somebody needs to give him a wake up slap for saying that because it is just not true. If he doesn't wanna make music anymore that's fine but for him to say he isn't cool anymore or has nothing left to offer is just BULL SHIT. Everybody in this generation know how legendary 3000 and Big Boi were and we don't tolerate no slander of them at all
it's not that he doesn't have anything to say, it's that he knows that real people aren't listened to in the entertainment industry (yes, real people listen to real people, but that's the twist he hasn't come around to yet). there's so many underground artist's putting out just draw dropping art, yet "the industry" follow's Nicki Minaj like she's the reincarnation of Jesus. from what i can tell, he's still tied to that notion of "success" in his head, that he doesn't realize that almost everyone knows how hollow and predatory "the industry" is, and that even star's like Bruno mar's are finding subtle way's of doing it on their own. finally, after a number of year's, not saying that it's the right thing or not, you just start realizing that everything that pushed you to share with the world, either you got it figured out, or you realize the value as tom hardy put it, "Some people don't understand that sitting in your own house alone in peace eating snacks and minding your business is fucking priceless."
yes, art is for all age's, but i don't think he's really understood that you CAN do it without all the toxicity you had to put up with in the yesteryear's of fame. hopefully he does, but from what i can tell, he still think's music is a young man's game, when that's really the furthest thing from the truth.
@@ethanstump It'd be nice if he could see comments like this.
“Once you get older, you get further away from the hipness…and then it becomes embarrassing”
Eminem is typing…
Thats a bar
I don’t completely think that’s the case with Em because some of his new lines are fire then other of his new lines I feel would even be criticized when he first came out for being corny. I still think em is an amazing lyricist/rapper even in my book the best but some of his new lines are corny.
I mean, Danny Brown is like in his 40s isn't he? It kind of debunks that theory
Yeah, dude... as a young’n , everything you do/create feels like it has a “point” / a right / and a reason = to exist
Older you get....
The more you question ^ those things....
And it’s a wall..
And you’re content enough on the side your on.
Or,
The reasons to gamble on greener grass being in the other side = gets less and less important.. or reasonable... or seemingly rewarding enough to build or create your means, to get over, to that / the other side
It’s like, anything “on tape” feels needy or grasping....
Letting it out, live, feeding the atmosphere, is like the only way it’s comfortable to perform your craft / creations
@@blaze_cautiongaming2179 used to love Eminem’s stuff before 07’. Now it’s just embarrassing in my opinion. It’s just not cool to be a 50 year old rapper talking about killing the President. Pretty sad in my opinion. At the end of the day, all you have is your dignity and to me someone who’s failed to grow as a person in a 30 year time span has failed to live a dignified life.
Absolutely loved this video. Great work man.
Great video. I actually came from that Key and Peele sketch, looking for the real story. Thanks!

What happened there ?💀
i thought more people would be talking about that in the comments 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Bad editing and even more terrible comparisons
I knew I wasn’t the only one to catch that 🤣🤣
Gave me a good laugh when I saw it I thought I was tripping and had to run it back lmao
Man, that rare Andre interview spoke so much to me. It's exactly how I feel about our older artists.
I miss Dre, from what I understand, one of the reason’s he’s been having difficult tapping into his creative energy is because of the loss of his Mother in 2012-2013. I hope he pulls through. He’s a blessing to music as a whole, not just Hip Hop. I feel blessed to have Aquemini on Vinyl as it’s one of the best Hip Hop, and possibly albums in general, ever made. Salute to you 3 stacks, for everything you’ve given. You were my first favorite artist
So much respect for this guy! He is a true artist!
I wish rappers, who get older, would still make hip hop. We don’t want to hear you use the slang, the pop-cultural reference, the drugs and fashion.
We want to hear the tale of one of the greats after the glitter magic. Of them realizing they have changed, the new struggles they go through, dealing with getting old, but most importantly: how they continue to be that person (or a form of that person). How their outlooks have changed and/or remain the same.
We didn’t fall in love with the hip. We fell in love w/ that hop even when u feel like you flop.
Much love 3K.
Awesome reporting btw
That’s why Tupac is the Goat! He always speak up for the down trodden so finding subject matter is always easy!
Andre getting disrespect is like energy being destroyed.
That's an awesome analogy
Nice.
They disrespected him & Big Boi since their debut.
Energy can never be destroyed
@@brianobegi4882 that's the point
If 3 Stacks put out an album today I'd drop everything I was doing to listen. Some artists are just that good and he's in that category.
Same. Did the same for the Jay Electronica album when it randomly dropped. It was out for a month before I even knew!
I think Andre simply believes he's overrated. He probably here reports like this and it depresses him. Andre is a unique Artist. But, he wants to be himself like just playing the flute. He probably feels that it doesn't have to force ideas. Working on creative prognostic strategies to sonically permeate the world is a ethereal experience. It's ambiguous for others.
Nail on the head , Celebs see all this speculation about them by fans on the internet and it does in fact make them depressed especially in this generation
He already beat the main mission and he did it in a big way. Between 2001 to 2005 Outkast was quite possibly the biggest thing in hip hop and pop.
Let him do his side quests in peace.
It is on quite on brand really. Outkast has always been about zagging when everyone is zigging.
Andre is just doing what comes natural. Being eclectic.
Even brilliant humans deal with insecurity and self esteem issues. I hope he has supportive people around him that truly listen. Sounds like life took his mood down a bit. Completely understandable, loss will do that. He's still one of the best to ever do it, and I'm glad he found simplistic things to do that bring him joy.
Andre 3000 is everything!! There would not be an Outkast if there is no Andre 3000.
common knowledge
The opening line hurts. He is GREATNESS. I just posted on FB I need some new Andre3k.... Then unfortunately stumbled on this video...Great content BTW. I hope this is a throw off to cover up a huge project. Please give us help.
Mad respect for him💪🏾💪🏾I’ll be waiting if he ever decides to do something mainstream ❤️❤️
I loved Class of 3000!! When I ask my friends and family about it, no one else seems to remember it, but it holds a special place in my heart!! But yeah, Andre could release anything now and I'd still be as excited as ever!
Did you just copy paste a comment? How stupid lmao
Life of the party? Ye x Andre
i was like... wait a minute. this sounds familiar ahahaha.
This coment is the same as someone down the coments.
🎶"We're going Downtown"🎶 My daughter loved that cartoon. It was way before its time😊
I don't think 3 Stackz sabotaged his career its just that he always been ahead of his time The Love Below is timeless & he has done everything he sat out to do he's uninspired right now..but I always hold out hope that he drops one more album!!
That's... Amazing for me. Being a writter and have wrote something that is beyond me (That would be my definition of art, something that transcend beyond the author), all this is a lesson. I cannot do what i did 13 years ago. I am not that kid who had the heart (the hip) but did not had everything else. So i cant be hung up to that and try to write the same way. I am older, wiser and while im not young anymore, it does not mean i cannot reach people anymore, its just another way.
And im writing this because this channel has helped me a lot right now, and not just on this, but on my personal life too. I've learned a lot from this. So, thanks man.
Excellent narration young man.
This is so timely, personally, as I spent all weekend listening to Outkast. Just got a feeling in my spirit. Appreciating tracks I wasn't so into when I was much younger, and realizing how deeply I love all my favorites. Funny enough, I've never *missed* them, I think 3K has articulated where he's at over the years. Beautiful human being. And such a gift to us all that he knows himself.
Andre’s verse in art of storytellin pt1 is still my most treasured piece of hip-hop. I’ve loved his style since I first discovered him and am so sad to hear he feels this way. I’m not surprised though because every genius feels this way at some point in their journey. These types of great minds are few and far between and they’re not one for our sometimes silly and frustrating world so they end up suffering. I just hope that he eventually perseveres and starts making music again and realizes that regardless of the trends…he’s a trendsetter so h3 doesn’t need to be imitating anything or anybody. Any hip-hop fan who hasn’t taken a deep dive into Outkast and Andre 3000 needs to do so on the quickness. 👌🏻👌🏻✌🏻🌻
really happy that I'll be able to tell the kids I saw Outkast, Kid Cudi, and Gambino in one night on that 2014 tour, definitely my favorite concert, and great video!
First video i've watched on this channel and just gotta say, i love the writing 👍
Man, what an intelligent and insightful guy. Seriously inspirational, even when he's experiencing professional setbacks.
3K STOP MAKING MUSIC CAUSE HE DON'T WANNA SELL HIS SOUL, BUT I WISH 3K MAKE A COMEBACK IN 2022
Eternal respect to this man.
Even hearing everything he's said about his own voice, it's surprising that he hasn't taken more younger artists under his wing and produce the up n comers.
I often wondered... hey ya was the song that woke me to my music journey. I was never into music until I heard hey ya... it was a very eclectic sound that open me up to rock, pop, soul, hip hop and r&b.
